         <title>Food drives start in Sunrise</title>
<description>You know it&apos;s the holiday season when people start rallying together to collect food for the needy. So far I&apos;ve been told of two locations. Pass on the word!

Two Plantation locations are rallying to collect food for the needy.

One of them, the Harvest Drive, hopes to collect enough food to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner to 1,000 families in need throughout Broward County. Drop off goods at Plantation High School from noon to 8 p.m. Nov. 17.

They are requesting juice, canned vegetables, canned gravy, canned cranberries, canned fruit, canned soup, pasta and rice, just to name a few things.

To donate to the Harvest Drive, contact Patti Bradley at pattizb@bellsouth.net or 954-562-6916. Also visit www.harvestdriveflorida.com

Another event is the Fall Food Festival Food Drive. This drive will continue through Dec. 15. You can drop food off at West Government Center at 1 North University Drive; West Regional Courthouse at 100 N. Pine Island Road or any Broward County library.

For more information, call Alinda Montfort 954-357-6946 or e-mail amontfort@broward.org.

<title>Renovated Welleby Park features electronic play system</title>
<description>As part of its recently completed playground improvements, Welleby Park received a cutting-edge electronic play system known as NEOS.

According to Deputy Mayor Donald Rosen, who suggested the new equipment, NEOS combines the best elements for video games and outdoor play, and provides a real workout for the whole family while helping children develop important skills like teamwork.

NEOS is designed for a range of ages and abilities. Lighted buttons provide visual cues for hearing-impaired players, and speakers located at each button provide auditory cues for visually impaired players.

The renovated playgrounds also received a poured rubberized play surface, as well as a new shade canopy.

Welleby Park is located at 11100 NW 44th St.
