Check out the 18th annual Children's Holiday Fishing Classic

The 18th annual 2008 Children’s Holiday Fishing Classic will take place on Saturday, Dec. 20 at the Wellington Community Center Dock at 12165 W. Forest Hill Blvd. Families and friends are invited to come and see the free children’s fishing bonanza. The tournament starts with registration at 8 a.m. around the dock area with the tournament to follow from 9 to 11 a.m. from the dock and the surrounding shore (no boats). The awards and fish tales will follow from 11 a.m. to noon. Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place (based on total weight of fish caught and released) in each age group: 6 & under; 7-9; 10-12; and 13-15.
Every child who enters will receive a free tackle gift from Gander Mountain of Palm Beach Gardens. The event is courtesy of the village of Wellington Parks & Recreation Department and the Royal Palm Beach Parks & Recreation Department. Rods and reels are available for use, courtesy of the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, an event co-sponsor. Bait is provided with live worms from Loxahatchee Bait and Tackle and bread from Publix of the Courtyard Shoppes in Wellington. Trophies are courtesy of Visual Images. The fishing tackle award prizes and the many door prizes are provided through a donation from Wellington Professional Centre and Gander Mountain of Palm Beach Gardens.
