BSO in Weston asks online sellers to meet potential buyers at police station
When selling items online, keep in mind that not all buyers are legitimate. Whenever possible, consider meeting strangers in a safe place. The Broward Sheriff's Office Weston district office’s parking lot, 17300 Royal Palm Blvd., will serve as a safe haven for the city's online buyers and sellers to meet.
The Weston district’s police chief, Kevin Butler, said the premise is to conduct business in a relatively safe environment that would deter sellers from ripping off potential customers and potential customers from stealing from sellers.
Anyone who may have been a victim of an online sales scam may call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or visit www.browardcrimestoppers.org.
