Weston Farmer's Market to take place on Saturday

The Weston Farmers Market is set for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 12 in the parking lot of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Preschool, 580 Indian Trace. The event will also feature a free one-hour yoga class by the Prana Lab of Weston at 11:30 a.m.

Items to find include organic and local produce, honey, jams and jellies, ceviche, Indian food, barbecue, natural pain relievers, natural beauty and bath products, orchids and other plants, natural household products and more.

Weston band performs at Many Cultures, One People event

The Jewish Family Service of Broward County recently hosted the multicultural entertainment event Many Cultures, One People.

JFS, a family service agency that provides help to 23,000 people annually, raised almost $40,000 through the show at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts. Entertainment included Women in Jazz, Fushu Daiko Japanese Taiko Drummers, Silver Stars USA Steel Orchestra, Simon Salz Klezmer Band, Nritya Surabhi Indian Dance School and more, including Weston band Fondo Blanco.

Weston to launch EMS Go Packet program

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Department of Fire Rescue is partnering with Weston and Attorneys for H.O.P.E Inc. to provide residents with the EMS Go Packet.

The EMS Go Packet is designed to contain all of your important medical information, as well as important legal documents to ensure that during an emergency, EMS and hospital personnel not only provide the highest level of medical care, but are also aware of and adhere to your rights as a patient.

Completed EMS Go Packets should be placed in a conspicuous location, such as on the inside handle of your front door. The packet “jacket” is designed to hang on a door knob. Packets will be made available to all Weston residents free of charge and can be obtained by calling Fire Station 81 at 954-389-2080.

Student Artist Showcase on display in Weston

The Weston Branch Library, 4205 Bonaventure Blvd., is hosting its Student Artist Showcase through the end of April.

Each school submits up to 12 original works of art in all mediums, everything from traditional drawing, painting, photography and ceramics to jewelry, paper, wood, metal and recycled materials. The works are judged and presented with awards by the
Arts Council of Greater Weston.

Weston hospital hosting Health and Wellness Expo

Cleveland Clinic in Weston is hosting a Health and Wellness Expo from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at the Jagelman Conference Center, 2950 Cleveland Clinic Blvd.

The event will include health screenings, nutrition and wellness information, medical exhibits and risk assessments, exercise demonstrations and a kids’ zone.

The expo also offers free, on-site blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings, stretch assessments, strength assessments, body mass index readings, risk assessments and more. Fasting is required for glucose and cholesterol screenings.
