Weston hosts a Bike Safety Day from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 21 at the Sheinberg Family YMCA, 20201 Saddle Club Road (inside Weston Regional Park).

Bring your bicycles and helmets. Festivities include a bicycle rodeo, bike and helmet checks, helmet giveaway, safety displays and bicycle raffle

The event is sponsored by the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, Sheinberg Family YMCA of Weston, Broward Safe Kids and the city.

Weston presents "The Velveteen Rabbit" professional theater for children, in partnership with the Symphony of the Americas, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7.

This timeless classic will be held at the Cypress Bay Theater, 18600 Vista Park Blvd. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

A Symphony of the Americas concert takes place 8-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Weston Community Center, 20200 Saddle Club Road.

Maestro James Brooks-Bruzzese

The concert features Maestro James Brooks-Bruzzese, artistic director, with guest artist Stanislav Drzewiecki on piano. Drzewiecki performed his first concert tour at age 6 in Japan. Now 20, he is the laureate of many prestigious awards.

The symphony is celebrating its 20th season. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, $10 for students.

Southwest Ranches is gearing up for its sixth garage sale day 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 14.

All residents have to do to participate is fill out the application and waiver at http://www.southwestranches.org/files/other/090205-GarageSale.pdf
and return to Town Hall, 6589 SW 160th Ave., or fax to 954-434-1490 by 5 p.m. March 6.

The town's volunteer fire department will distribute the map with the residents selling along Griffin Road.

-- For anyone traveling westbound on I-595, the ramp to I-75 south is under repairs and there are long delays at peak traffic hours.

Avoid delays by staying in the right-hand lane, and take I-75 north. Almost immediately you will come to the new Weston Road exit.

The exit takes you to State Road 84, just east of Weston Road. From there, enter Weston.

-- Bridge repairs will be taking place 7 p.m.-midnight starting today (Feb. 2) on Royal Palm Boulevard to east of Bonaventure Boulevard. The contractor will be working on both sides of the bridge.

Crews will be working off the roadway repairing deteriorated timber guardrail posts.
