What's going on at the Weston Branch Library?
The Weston Branch Library (4205 Bonaventure Blvd.) has a number of events and programs going on at the beginning of September for visitors of all ages. Best of all, they're free.

Sept. 1 - Forgotten Math for Parents, 6-7:30 p.m. Brush up on your math skills so that you’ll be able to help your child with math homework.
2 - Irish Dancing for Beginners, for kids 4 and older and adults, 6:30-7:30 p.m., with certified instructor Marie Poirier Marzi. RSVP to ext. 243.
3, 24 - U.S. Citizenship Exam Preparation, 10:30 a.m.-noon. Information: ext. 247.
4 - Friday Foreign Film: Valentin (directed by Alejandro Agesti, 2002, Argentina), 2-3:30 p.m. Nine-year-old Valentin’s feuding parents leave him to be raised by his eccentric grandmother, causing the boy to seek out alternative parental figures in the neighborhood. 8, 15 - U.S. Citizenship Exam Preparation, 6-7:30 p.m. Information: ext. 247.
8 - At Home Strategies: Set-up Your Child for Success in the Upcoming School Year, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Find out how to help your child learn where, when, what and how to study.
9 - Twin Hearts Meditation in Spanish, 6-7:45 p.m. Experience peace and illumination with this meditation technique, facilitated by Carolina Ayala. No reservations needed.
12 - Weston Friends of the Library Book Fair, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Used books for sale in the lobby.
12 - Broadway Horizon’s Superstars Musical Showcase Performance, 11 a.m.-noon. Children perform songs and dances from musical productions.
12 - Creative Crossroads: Author Katherine Andarcia presents her workbook Luz de los ángeles, 2-4 p.m. Presented by United Dreams Foundation. In Spanish. Sponsored by the Weston Friends of the Library Inc. for Hispanic Heritage Month.
15 - Family Movie Night: Beverly Hills Chihuahua (directed by Raja Gosnell, 2009, PG), 6-7:30 p.m. A pampered Chihuahua gets lost in Mexico and has to rely on a group of stray dogs to help her evade ruthless dognappers and find her way home. Sponsored by the Weston Friends of the Library Inc.

15 - Wags & Tales in English: Children can gain confidence in their reading skills by reading to a pet therapy dog. For ages 5 to 12; 3:30-4:30 p.m. Register at the Youth Services Desk. Sponsored by the Broward County Humane Society.
