Weston residents can still get flood insurance discount

house-flood.jpg

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has accepted Weston as a participant in the National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System and has achieved a Class 8 rating.

This rating enables Weston property owners to receive a 10 percent discount on the cost of flood insurance for NFIP flood insurance policies issued or renewed in Special Flood Hazard Areas on or after May 1, 2009.

Residents do not need to do anything special to receive the discount. The city's rating in the CRS has been entered into a nationwide database utilized by insurance agents to write and rate flood insurance coverage.

Weston launches redesigned website

image002.jpg

Weston recently launched its newly designed website.

The site address at www.westonfl.org has not changed, but the look and content have. City officials say the new visual design is reflective of the city’s close proximity to the Everglades and offers more information in a clean, user-friendly fashion.

The website is launched in conjunction with the branding of all city communication media: Weston Always On.

In the future, the homepage will link visitors to information on the city’s wetland mitigation page when they click on the foliage, and link them to natural habitats and its wildlife if they click on the heron.

Residents also can stay up to date on city happenings by following it on Twitter.
