Back to School Bash in Weston raises thousands for two local charities
Former Miami Dolphins players Twan Russell and O.J. McDuffie were among those in attendance for the first Back to School Bash at Weston Town Center.
The fundraiser generated more than $3,500 for the Russell Life Skills & Reading Foundation and the O.J. McDuffie Catch 81 Foundation. Ronald McDonald made a special appearance with a check presentation to Russell Life Skills for $20,000.
Residents were asked to bring school supplies to support the charities.
Local vendors and sponsors provided attendees with information, activities, programs, entertainment and giveaways. Former NFL alumni, Andrea Penoyer from TLC’s “Police Women of Broward County" and others came out to support the fundraising efforts.
