Reminder of important communication tool if storm strikes

codeRED_Logo_Hdr.jpg

Weston has been utilizing the CodeRED system since 2003 as a communication resource in the event of an emergency.

This system is capable of dialing the entire city within minutes and delivers a recorded message from the city manager's office describing the situation and any instructions for immediate or future action. The message will play when answered by a live person or an answering machine and makes three attempts to connect to each number. If you opt-in for text message and/or email alerts, those will also be sent.

An app is also available for smartphones. The calling number will display 866-419-5000. To hear the last message delivered, dial the number back.

Weston residents and business owners are urged to sign up for CodeRED emergency messages. To sign up, visit http://www.westonfl.org/Residents/Hurricane/CodeRed.aspx.
