NEW REALITY SERIES TO AIR ON FOX SEARCHES FOR THE NEXT GREAT MUSICAL GROUP

The producers behind the mega-hit phenomenon AMERICAN IDOL take the musical reality genre to a whole new level when they embark on a quest to find the next American band sensation that will take the nation by storm. THE SEARCH FOR THE NEXT GREAT AMERICAN BAND (working title) will scour the country, seeking musical groups of all ages, styles and genres, with hundreds of bands auditioning for a shot at stardom.

After the auditions, judges will narrow down hopefuls from all walks of musical life – young and old, family and friends, garage bands and weekend warriors – to 10 semi-finalists who will perform in front of a live studio audience. Viewers will then get a chance to vote for their favorite bands via telephone and text messaging and determine who stays in the competition.

Each week, the bands will be challenged with varied musical themes, jazzing up each of the performance shows as their skills in a wide spectrum of musical styles are put to the test along with their personal and professional relationships.

Finally, in a not-to-be-missed showdown, the final three bands will compete to secure a recording contract. If you think AMERICAN IDOL is intense, wait until you see what a band must go through for its shot at fame.

The show is scheduled to air Fridays at 8:00PM in the Fall.

FOX'S HIT SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE RETURNS

Last summer’s hottest show, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, begins its third season in search of America’s favorite dancer. The series again promises to keep America moving to a different beat, as dancers skilled in everything from the “street” styles of hip-hop, krumping and popping to salsa, quickstep and jive compete to be named America’s favorite. Cat Deeley returns as host of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, which premieres with auditions from New York Thursday, May 24 at 8:00PM on WPMT FOX43.

The following week, auditions continue in Los Angeles and Chicago Wednesday, May 30 at 8:00-10:00 PM and Atlanta Thursday, May 31 at 9:00-10:00 PM, as SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE moves to its regular time period.

Talented dancers who spark the judges’ interest during auditions are invited to call-backs in Las Vegas, where they work with top choreographers. During the call-back week, the judges choose the Top 20 dancers who will continue in the competition. The Las Vegas Round will air Wednesday, June 6 at 9:00-10:00 PM and Thursday, June 7 at 9:00-10:00 PM, when the top 20 finalists – 10 males and 10 females – will be announced.

Then it will be up to America to help decide who stays in the competition. The first performance show featuring the Top 20 dancers will air Wednesday, June 13 at 8:00-10:00 PM. The following night, Thursday, June 14 at 9:00-10:00 PM, the first LIVE results show revealing America’s vote will air, and one male and one female performer will be sent home.

FOX ORDERS MORE LATE NIGHT LAUGHTER WITH SPIKE

FOX has ordered an additional season of the late-night laugher TALKSHOW WITH SPIKE FERESTEN. The atypical Saturday-night talk show will return for a full order of episodes for the 2007-2008 season!

TALKSHOW WITH SPIKE FERESTEN boldly goes where other talk shows have gone before, only faster. TALKSHOW is a fast-paced half-hour that combines elements of a talk show with irreverent comedy sketches – both inside the studio and out in the field.

Hosted by Emmy-nominated writer Spike Feresten (“Seinfeld,” “Late Show with David Letterman”), TALKSHOW was highlighted in its inaugural season by recurring sketches “Idiot Paparazzi” and “Comedy for Stoners” as well as unconventional guest appearances by Fred Willard, Andy Richter, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and, of course, Spike’s old boss – Jerry Seinfeld.

TALKSHOW dispenses with the traditional monologue, features comedy in every act and uses guests in unpredictable ways. In addition, the show utilizes its staff by having them perform, which, mind you, is also a huge money-saver.

TALKSHOW WITH SPIKE FERESTEN airs Saturdays at 12:00 Midnight-12:30 AM on WPMT FOX43.
