Idol Chatter 5-6-08: Who's Winning Season 7?

Time to get serious. Take a ride with Clyde.
Now that Brooke White is gone...I'm no longer obligated to care about any of the remaining singers. I have no real, emotional attachment to any of them, and, thus, can be completely critical and objective. If I had to pick a favorite, I'd have to go with Jason...but, he's not going to win and I'd only be choosing him because: 1) Brooke is gone, B) Syesha doesn't have a prayer, and 3) I hate the Davids so much! Why be so negative all the time, though...right? Julie Heart tells me I look like I'm going to have a nervous breakdown or something, lately. So...it's time to detach myself from the process, like I should've been doing all along, and make the tough calls.

Syesha goes, Jason goes...and we're down to the Battle of the Davids (TM) for which we've all been (apparently) waiting. Archie is pulling in the tweeners and the mommies and the g-mommies...and, probably, any of the remaining "David Hernandez Voters," if you know what I mean. (Wink, nudge.) David Cook is going to rule young boys, teen girls and college-age girls. All idiots still harboring Daughtry Guilt (TM) are going to vote for him, in a vain attempt to help a "rocker" finally win American Idol.

"I'm sorry, Dave...I'm afraid I can't do that."
Like it or not, America - though I suspect many of you are of the former persuasion - David Archuleta is going to be your. Next. American. Idol. David Cook will fly too close to the sun and what remains of his hair will burn right up. Archie is pretty much it. He was an early frontrunner, he's got Kelly Clarkson's support, and the whole gawky little twit thing that is such a turn-off to me is a huge hit with the Idol voters. You think David Cook has the Daughtry Guilt Vote? Archu-D2 has the Clay Guilt Vote...and there is no way the Claymates are going to let their hero, or his spiritual successor, fall short of winning THIS time around. That's my call - hardly a bold one, but it's pretty much inevitable and I wanted to make it before we get all wrapped up in some crazy "no, I REALLY think Cook can win this" thing.

See you at the York Fair, Mr. Cook.

Hey first off your comment about david Archuleta and hispanic voters, disgusting... and for that I will never come to this blog again. Everyone who's left besides jason who is dubbed VOTE FOR THE WORST's knight in Shining Armor deserves to be there and has the talent to make it as a recording artist. I think that you should be more aware of the people you are talking to because I'm sure I'm not the only minority that has visited your blog.

My sincere apologies, Chantelle...but I think you're offended for the wrong reason.
I swear to you, I wasn't hinting that Archie is benefitting from Hispanic voters with my "David Hernandez" comment. I was hinting that he was probably benefitting from the votes of boys who like other boys, if you get my drift.
(Not that there's ANYTHING wrong with that, for the record.)
It's the wrong kind of offense you've taken. I'm sure he's got plenty of fans of all walks of life, but, thinking about it strategically, his song choices may have helped him out with specific groups on different occasions. Like ALL the contestants do as they carve out their niches.
Sorry if anyone else took it the wrong way, and hope to see you back here soon, where we'll find other tongue-in-cheek ways to entertain and offend.
;)
