Idol Chatter: Idol + Disney = Zuul?

IdolChatter%20Banner%20Big.jpg
When two of the most-powerful entities in entertainment join forces, you get sucked inside...well, both.

Clyde, here. When I first heard Idol and Disney were teaming up to create a new theme park attraction...well, I couldn't help but consider how much evil, hypnotic power would be collected in one place. But, after reading about it a bit more, I have to admit...it's kind of intriguing! American Idol fans who want an even CLOSER look inside the TV juggernaut will be glad to know that a new attraction coming to Disney World will offer just that! You'll be able to "audition" for a Disney casting producer, and those lucky enough to pass the test will appear in one of the park's Idol Stage Shows. Can't get much closer than that...short of actually trying out for the show, of course. There'll be hair and makeup stylists, vocal coaching...and, of course, three judges staring you down at the end. Check the story below for loads more information.

Disney World To Open "American Idol" Simulation
DERRIK J. LANG | February 7, 2008 07:38 PM EST |

NEW YORK — Disney World is about to get a little pitchy, dawg. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announced plans Thursday to create a live performance attraction based on "American Idol" at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park _ formerly called Disney-MGM Studios _ in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

"Our goal is to try to recreate the excitement of those 24 people who show up on that 'American Idol' stage," Disney Parks chairman Jay Rasulo told The Associated Press. "We believe many, many viewers want to know exactly how that feels, and we're going to try to reproduce that feeling for them."

Much like the hugely popular Fox singing competition, the as-yet-unnamed attraction _ scheduled to open in late 2008 _ will allow theme park guests to audition then perform before a live studio audience inside the Hollywood Studios' theater space formerly occupied by the "Doug Live!" and "Superstar Television" attractions.

Disney licensed the rights to create the attraction from "Idol" co-producers 19 Entertainment and FremantleMedia, despite the fact "American Idol" airs on Fox and Disney owns broadcast competitor ABC.

"It is owned by us, so we can extend the brand in the off-air space in the ways that we want to," said Keith Hindle, FremantleMedia's licensing vice president. "We don't see this in any way as a NewsCorp. vs. Disney debate. That's never been part of the discussion, and it's not something that's relevant to us. It's just part of 'American Idol.'"

The attraction's details are still being worked out, but it will probably operate something like this: Theme park guests ages 14 and up will be able to audition for a Disney casting producer. Those who pass the test will be selected to appear in one of the park's "Idol" stage shows. Rasulo anticipates six to eight such shows a day.

Backstage, the performers will receive hair and makeup touchups from a stylist and singing tips from a vocal coach. Then, the guests will perform on an "Idol"-like set in front of a live audience and three judges.

Top audience vote-getters will compete in a grand finale show at the end of each day. Overall daily champs will win a special front-of-the-line pass at a regional audition for the actual "American Idol" show. Hindle says Disney winners won't be given any special treatment during the real audition, just the ability to skip ahead.

Because of eligibility differences _ namely, the TV show's 16- to 28-year-old age limit _ winners may be offered the option of transferring their pass to a friend or family member, but they won't be allowed to sell it. Daily champs too young to audition for the real deal could save the pass until they're old enough to compete, according to Hindle.

But will there be enough Fantasias and Sanyayas to keep theme park audiences captivated?

"I know that there's enough talent on any given day in our theme parks to keep people entertained," said Rasulo.

Beyond the attraction, Hindle says actual "Idol" stars may make appearances throughout the year and merchandise designed by both FremantleMedia and Disney's product divisions especially for the attraction would be available for sale.

"It's a very collaborative process," Hindle said. "Disney knows more about live stage productions that we ever will. We know more about our TV show that Disney ever will. Exactly how this will manifest it is something that will be mutually approved by all parties. We're looking to Disney to see how their guests like to be entertained."

There you have it, fans...while some might say, "I'm going to Disney World!" after appearing on American Idol, you'll soon have the option of doing it the other way around. Sounds interesting, that's for sure. Maybe you'll see yours truly as part of the judge's panel? Heh...if Disney can afford me, that is. See you next time.

SYTYCD Blog #11 From 16 Down to 14

SYTYCD Blog

Elimination night once again, and two more dancers leave the compeition bringing us to the Top 14 dancers. The show started off with an intriguing Mia Michaels routine that was a creepy combo of magicians and their ragdolls. We also were treated to the dance group Quest with former SYTYCD contestants Hok and Dominic. Season seven Idol winner Jordin Sparks sang “One Step at a Time”, and we saw solos from the bottom 3 pairs; Chelsea and Thayne, Comfort and Chris, and Kourtni and Matt. All three couples were in the bottom three for the second time, but it was Chelsea and Chris who were sent home.

Top 14

Well I was 2 for three in my couple predictions, I expected to see Chelsea and Thayne and Comfort and Chris in the bottom three, but I was a little surprised to see Kourtni and Matt. They did a great job last night, but I’m not sure if America understood their dance, and I don’t know if they have the fan base being in the bottom three again. It didn’t matter though, because the judges kept them around after their solos and broke up the other two pairs. I honestly wasn’t even paying attention during Chelsea’s solo, which in hindsight seems fitting because America obviously isn’t paying much attention to her either, which is a shame because she started off so strongly. Chris I’m happy to see go because he was holding Comfort back, but I wonder if Comfort will hold Thayne back as a partner.

Can I say that the opening number was a bit creepy? The guest dance team “Quest” (with our dear friends Dominic and Hok) was very entertaining. And Jordon Sparks was lovely (as usual). So Kourtni and Matt being in the bottom 3 isn’t a huge surprise, but not what I expected. Those two had a great night Wednesday, but so did just about everyone else. After the solos, I feel confident in saying that all 6 dancers in danger are AMAZING at what they do. I love Chelsea, so it is sad to see her go, but I think that was the right choice the judges made. As for Chris, he was dragging Comfort down every week, and I am glad that she now has Thayne for a partner. Chris is great at what he does, but that is all that he is great at. I am looking forward to seeing Comfort and Thayne together next week. The only problem is that now that Chris is gone, I might feel a little pain after every elimination round, because I don’t think there is one person left on this show who hasn’t made me love them. It will be interesting. This show is most definitely turning out better than Idol.

Yes I was a bit surprised too that Matt and Kourtni got pushed into the bottom three holding cell. But then again, Matt was a little stiff and the dance was less desirable than the others were, who were not pushed into the holding cell. When the judges picked Chris I was happy someone paid for that awful performace! My ears are still ringing from it! Chelsea too had one of the worst performances! The solo just didn't cut it for me either! These dancers better step it up, or I will be back to set them straight! This is Sgt. Tango over and out.

It's been a while since we've had any good Idol news for you, but I think I've got something you'll enjoy. In which cities will contestants be torturing Randy, Paula and Simon this time around? Or, even better, in which city will our next American Idol champion be found? We even leave the United States and bring the search for talent over to Puerto Rico! Take a look.

How's that for inside information? This show will air after the presidential election in November, so...let's hope the entire country doesn't absolutely HATE one or more of these states by that time. Florida...I'm looking in your direction. Anyway, as I hope you know by now, Idol tapes the auditions months in advance of the time the shows actually hit your TV screens. Hard to believe we're already coming up on the American Idol pre-season, but...let's get fired up, because Artie, Julie and I will be back here every week, covering the ins and outs of TV's biggest show. See you next time, and be sure to check out Julie and Daphne over on the So You Think You Can Dance? blog. The guest panelists lined up to join them now that the competition has begun - not the least those yours truly - are definitely very entertaining.

Hey Dance Fans! It is time for another So You Think You Can Dance Blog! Hey, Julie you are looking "Cataclismically...." wait, what???

I’m not even goin to try to repeat what he said…Adam Shankman is on the judging panel tonight, and this guy is off the wall…you may remember him from last year with his Hairspray choreography. And we have our own guest judge tonight that is quite a character. Sergeant Tango is joining us tonight from the dance police.

Hello Daphne and Julie! This is Sergeant Tango reporting to duty on these young dancers.

Kherington and Twitch are up first with a hip hop number, i hope this is as good as i think it will be-i love these two!

TWICHINGTON!!!!! I love these two...so I hope it is good as well.

This is a girl after my own heart with the shopping obsession

No wonder she's so happy....all those shoes!

That was a cute, and fun routine, but Kherington smiling through the whole thing made it a little silly at parts

Not their best, but I dug it. There is something about these two that I just can't stop loving them!

They were pretty well coordinated together. Yeah it was good. The only thing I saw was the slow feet violation. Keep moving! Don’t cause an accident! They will pass this time.

They really are a great couple on that stage. And they have gotten great routines.

I agree that there is just something about these two, they've got the "it" factor regardless of their dancing that just makes people love them

But, they are both fantastic dancers on top of everything else. Okay, enough gushing over Twitch and Kherington....and time to make room for Courtney and Gev who are hitting the stage with the RUMBA!

Whoa that was a little hot...not to mention that half a dress she was wearing!

I do believe that this was their best. That was indeed hot, and they (at least Gev) were really into it this week.

That outfit was borderline indecent exposure...Sgt. Tango

Your right Julie! Her dress is a code 311! If she spins anymore I might be sick and have to issue a citation!

Gev's looking awfully nice tonight too....he cleans up well.

Yeah he does, the two of them really had great chemistry too. Now Chris and Comfort are doing a Jazz number by Tyce Diorio-who always comes up with something great

Chris did much better this week. but I don't know if that is saying much.

It's interesting how Tyce always seems to come up with these routines regardless of what the title (Jazz) suggests, it was def much more tribal I do agree that they needed to be much more animalistic

yeah...it was very "Hungry like the Wolf" at some parts...but they didn't show that as much as they could have. But I still think Chris performed better this week.

The judges are being a little hard on them, they weren't bad...just not as good as they could have been

I disagree! They broke a huge amount of laws! Playing their loud music! I'm going to have to bring these two in! Wasn't good at all!

I love that Comfort just sucker punched Chris though. Will and Jessica are up next doing disco, and after that little tidbit from Jessica I think my Will crush just got bigger.

Wow there was some issues there they had some difficult moves, but they didn't execute all of them well

There were, but they worked it out. I don't think it will hurt them. I think their routine was better than Courtney and Gev's Disco routine, and more impressive

Them Disco kids! This was ok, but disco is for the birds!

Oh c'mon Sergeant T, Disco isn't so bad! It has it moments...and Will did nail that point. I'm not sure if these two are as likeable as Courney and Gev though...I really like Will...but I'm not sure if i care about Jessica

I don't know. I am pretty equal on the two couples. They are two completely different couples, and I like different things about each of them.

Well either way, Kourtni and Matt are getting on stage with a contemporary piece, and i think Matt has met his ninja match with Choreographer Sonja Teyeh

This routine looks interesting

Yeah i was nothing like we've seen before, but i really liked it, it really worked for them

Weird kids these days! Looked a bit fake. Movement was stiff with Matt. They’ll get a warning this time.

It was a cool routine, I think it worked for them. And they seemed to have fun with it. Chelsie and Thayne are up next, and I hope they bounce back from last week with the Quickstep.

This has been a dooming dance in the past, they're gonna need luck with this one.

I think that would have been much better with out Phil Collins. The song didn't really work with that style, and the way they were dressed.

Yeah there's been some weird song choices tonight I liked this dance from them, but i didn't love it

Too stiff and flakey! Worthy of an overnighter in dance jail! Unless, you can bail them out!

I think they danced it well, it was just a little weird for me dawg....sorry slipped into Randy Jackson mode there.

Haha, i agree, the whole thing was a little weird..but let's move on to the other Chelsie and Mark, they're going to be tackling a Hip-hop dance

You know, the week first I did not dig these two, but they are really making a comeback. That was great.

I think that was my favorite routine from these two, maybe even my favorite for the night

The wrap up of the number was left a bit open. They've passed me this time.

Favorite for the night, most definitely.

They really brought the emotion to that hip hop routine, i loved it

I like the concept, they danced it well, they did show that emotion so well (especially by Chelsie), it was just over all fantastic.

Conceptual dancing? Just dance! I have plenty of citation paper right here!

Katee and Joshua are going to be finishing up the night with the Samba!

I think Courtney and Gev found their competition for sexiest number of the night..

Wow, Katee was def pulling off the girly look with half a dress as well, and Joshua was looking hulkish in that open shirt…I am starting to fall for these two, and I loved this routine for them

Superb dancing! Half a dress though! That’s two 311’s in one night! Argg! But the Samba was performed well.

What a great way to close out the night. Tonight was a good night for all but two couples this week. I don't know how we are going to pick a bottom 3 here.

BlueSwoosh.jpg

I know! Well I can tell you who my favorites were tonight... Chelsie and Mark for sure, but Katee and Joshua and Courtney and Gev tie for second with their Rumba and Samba dances....and Kourtni and Matt are third! My bottom three are Comfort and Chris, Jessica and William, and Chelsea and Thayne...I'm thinking they might break up a couple after doing their solos and we'll see Chris and Jessica go home

My bottom three are Comfort and Chris, Chelsea and Thayne, and finally Chelsie and Mark. Hopefully justice will be served! And we shall see the right two go home.

My bottom three are going to be Comfort and Chris, Chelsea and Thayne, and (it pains me to say this) Jessica and William. Although I really feel that Jessica and William could be replaced by any couple tonight except for Chelsie and Mark. Even my favorite Twitchington is not safe. This is really an amazing season. These dancers are just fantastic. Of course Chelsi and Mark were my favorites for the night. And I think that Katee and Joshua were second. As for who is actually going home tomorrow night, I'm going to say Chris and Chelsea. I like Chelsea a lot, but I think Comfort is a much better dancer. Well that's all we've got for tonight Dance Fans! Check in with us tomorrow to see if our favorites are sticking around, and if our predictions come true! Leave us comments letting us know who your top picks are, and who you'd like to see head home!

SYTYCD Blog #9 - From 18 Down to 16

SYTYCD Blog

Another two dancers had to go tonight, leaving us with 16 dancers on SYTYCD. This week the dancers hit the stage for their second time trying to impress the judges, and more importantly America. We started out the show with a hip hop number from Shane Sparks. We also had two performances, one from a flamenco dancer, and another from Flo Rider.

The bottom three ended up being Chelsea and Thayne, Susie and Marquis, and Comfort and Chris. In the end Susie and Marquis were sent home.

TOP 16

It looks like Daphne and I hit the nail on the head with this one. We both called all three couples of Susie and Marquis, Comfort and Chris, and Chelsea and Thayne as being in the bottom three, AND predicted the two going home of Susie and Marquis. I guess we had to have some kind of comeback after several wrong choices last week. Seeing the SYTYCD group number reminded me of how horrible the Idol group numbers were…Shane Sparks put together an awesome dance for the dancers, and Comfort was so lucky that Shane was the choreographer, because her performance in the dance helped in keeping her safe. Chelsea’s solo was great and kept her in as well, but “hot for teacher” Susie looked like a hot mess, and I wasn’t surprised or upset to lose her.

The guys on the other hand were pretty neck and neck with their solos. Marquis really threw everything he had at his chance, but the judges said that he was all tricks and not enough dance –which I feel was a bit of a cop out.

DancerX.jpgAmerica disappoints Dancer X by letting Broadway continue to go unpunished, but the chosen bottom three are extremely fair choices. Dancer X suspects that Chris was allowed to remain on purely as a comic foil. What’s he going to do next week, clog dancing?

Well no surprises tonight! I was very happy with the results this week. Thanks America for making me happy this time. Susie and Marquis most definitely deserved to go home tonight. I think sending anyone else home would have been a crime. Well, I don’t think I would have shed any tears over the loss of Chris. But now that Susie is gone, who am I going to hate? Perhaps no one, or maybe Chris, unless he can either get his act together, or just stays away from the krumping.

Prison Break's 'T-Bag' Robert Knepper Stars in Next Transporter 3 Movie!

After the poorly received mess that was Transporter 2, Fox apparently wanted nothing to do with yet another Frank Martin over-the-top adventure.

T BagEnter Lionsgate, who has become a home for pretty much any Jason Statham character these days. Having already distributed Statham's Crank, War and The Bank Job, and with Crank 2 in the hopper, Lionsgate did not hesitate to snatch up distribution rights to Transporter 3.

The third go around for Frank Martin has already wrapped principle production and is in post. There's no announced time frame for release, but we could see it in theaters before the year is out.

Returning alongside Statham as Frank Martin is Francois Berleand as Place Vendome. New to the cast is Robert Knepper of Prison Break fame.

SYTYCD Blog #8 - Hollywood Top 18

SYTYCD Blog

Welcome to the blog, Dance fans! Julie Heart, here, for another week of great moves and surprises!

And, as always, I'm Daphne Bellevue. So, speaking of surprises, we have an...interesting new guest panelist sitting in with us this week. But don't judge this book by its cover.

Yeah, Dancer X is def serious about dance. X, why don't you tell our fans a little about yourself.

DancerX.jpgDancer X comes from a long line of Dancers. Capital D Dancers. Dancer X is all about passion and substance and above all, being contemporary. Dancer X is not here to see historical drama. Dance lives, my dears. Those who attempt to entertain Dancer X with sap and fluff shall be sent packing, be assured. But by the same token, Dancer X will not abide churlishness. Dance should be beauty, above all else.

Alright, welcome aboard! Let's get this thing going

Word, Julie.

Mia Michaels is joining the judging panel tonight, she always has some love for the contestants

and Banoodles?

Which means insane apprently?

Thayne and Chelsea are up first. Lets see if they can top their hot number from last week, with a Jazz routine from Mandy Moore.

Well they did knock on wood like a million times

....hmm i'm not sure if it was enough though

DancerX.jpgDid anybody get a King-and-his-Forbidden-Love vibe from that? The near-identical costuming really did not suggest any kind of social or class disparity between the two. When Thayne spurned Chelsea’s advance halfway through, Dancer X got THAT, but that could just have been Thayne’s character being an ass, not some kind of Upstairs/Downstairs thing. Had they had not prepped us on the king thing in the pre-dance interview, Dancer X would have had no idea.

I agree, the costumes were not that great, and they didn't really fit the King thing.

Yeah I'm not really impressed, it wasn't really jazz either?

And there wasn't enough energy to it.

Yeah, they weren't really connecting with the music or each other

I didn't think the routine was all that great either.

Yeah seriously, there wasn't any great memorable moves

DancerX.jpgThe judges were right… no impact.

I still like these two, but this was not a great night for them.

Well, they had a fun intro segment which hopefully will help them, otherwise i'm not sure how many votes they'll get

DancerX.jpgChelsea darling, there’s a big difference between saying “I’m the sassy one!” and actually being the sassy one. Thayne was sassier this week… his pre-show was more memorable and he did all the talking when Cat lamely had them defend themselves to the judges.

Lets hope they get enough to stick around

Mark and Chelsie are doing the Tango, I really wonder if they'll be able to connect with each other in a hot sexy dance

DancerX.jpgThe tango is such a cliché that it’s difficult for Dancer X to get excited about it.

I wasn't thrilled with them last week so lets hope that the tango will give them points from me…. They got some points.

Chelsie was looking really good, but she kept looking at her feet the whole time...i wonder if it was because her pinky toe was out

For having that little issue, they did a wonderful job with that.

DancerX.jpgWhat Dancer X found most interesting is what Cat pointed out, how the costumes highlighted Mark being very sharp and angular and Chelsie being so curvy. Excellent choice, dress that accentuated the dancers instead of obscuring them. Ahem, Chelsea and Thayne.

They def had better costumes than the first pair, but I actually liked Mark more in this routine than Chelsie, his seriousness was used well in this dance

DancerX.jpgWe all pretty much know what a tango is, and this pair delivered exactly that. There was nothing supremely challenging, especially for Mark, and aside from a cute leg-lock bit, nothing memorable. Dancer X would have liked to see more closeups of their faces, because the tango is supposed to be a romantic, passionate dance and Dancer X had difficulty finding that emotion with the camera zooming in from the back row. Dancer X suspects the judges overrated this pair. Last week’s Will and Jessica tango was more interesting, even in just the clip review segment.

Well, I always enjoy the tango so no wonder I enjoyed it. Moving on Jessica and Will are up next with Hip Hop

I think these two will have fun with this routine and I love when they use chairs

DancerX.jpgYou know what Dancer likes? As you mentioned Julie, Dancer X too like props. It would have been nice to see those chairs bounce around the stage but even just having them on hand tells Dancer X that Dancer X is going to see something more interesting than all the boring ballroom junk.

I loved that. That was the best hip hop routine so far this season

Well, they looked like they were having fun, and they def gave it some energy, I was still hoping for bigger moves though

You could tell Will was the better of the two. But I don't think (except for her totally peppy smile) Jessica was bad at all.

Jessica wasn't bad at all, but when you put her next to a fantastic dancer like Will she pales in comparison

DancerX.jpgWill has a fluidity to his moves that – unfortunately – makes Jessica seem clumsy in comparison. It’s like in cheerleading, where your moves have to be crisp and snappy… when you have one cheerleader who is so sharp, it highlights the mushy mess of the girls surrounding her. Jessica probably deserves to worry. Dancer X barely watched her during the entire routine, even though her pants were falling off.

Kourtni and Matt will be doing the Foxtrot, let's hope they do better this week to stay out of the bottom three

DancerX.jpgKourtni is wholly unlikable. The best thing she can say about her partner is how he compliments her? Go home. Dancer X is already weary of you and it's only been forty seconds.

Wow, they did soooo much better, they really made that dance look easy

The've gone from Human League video to "Dancing Lady" I enjoyed it.

I feel like they really commited to it this week I'm surprised Mary was disappointed

Me as well. I thought she would have loved that.

DancerX.jpgDancer X liked their foxtrot, because it was plainly, unapologetically fun. That could have been taken directly from a period movie. Completely believable, with that effortless quality that a dance like that requires. The falling backward stunt was wonderful.

Courtney and Gev are going up now with a Mandy Moore Contemporary piece.

I loooooved this, they really rocked that love story

This was the best contemporary dance of this season. And Courtney and Gev did well with this

DancerX.jpgThat was a powerful piece… but Dancer X thinks it was about an abusive relationship, correct? Gev is jerking her around, molding her, chasing her, most of the dance made Dancer X uncomfortable. Dancer X speculates it was intended to be a lovely Morning After, but it appeared to Dancer X more like the Morning Before the Court Order.

Hmm i'm not sure if i'd go that far. Courtney almost seemed like mannequin sometimes, and then bursted into life. Mia is loving all over the guys and being a lil harsh on the girls i think

I might agree. Earlier with William and Jessica, I agreed to an extent, but I don't agree with Courtney and Gev, I think they were both very good.

Yeah, i really like both of them, i think they had a great connection

DancerX.jpgIt was a fabulous showing, even aside Dancer X's concerns. A lot of acting, a lot of story, a lot of obviously well-timed and carefully constructed set pieces… and the camera found the perfect moment to showcase Courtney when she trembles sexually at Gev’s near-touch behind her.

Joshua and Katee are up next with Broadway, i loved them last week, i hope they can keep the love this week

Lol, Nigel went crazy over that, but i agree, it was entertaining, and it was so much fun to watch

DancerX.jpgThe judges liked that? Dancer X does not get it. It’s cheap and meaningless.

No way! that was Wow, forget the wii fit, just get yourself a Tyce choreographed Broadway number! That was fun!

Haha, so true, i'd love to do a dance number by Tyce

DancerX.jpgWhat a cartoon. How do you like something like that?

Are you kidding?? The Broadway numbers are killing this season.

DancerX.jpgIt’s a hodge-podge, a medley, an unconnected shambles from one pose to the next. Joshua’s impressive leap was absolutely necessary because without it they have nothing more than a high school show choir bit on fast-forward. The difference between a happy piece like Kourtni and Matt’s foxtrot and this happy Broadway bit is that one is elegant and refined while the other is showy and obnoxious. Broadway sucks.

Seriously, i'm not always a broadway fan, and yes broadway is showy and obnoxious, but this was fantastic

Susie and Marquis are up next. We were not thrilled with their Waltz, but this week they have Salsa, which is Susie's area of expertise.

So unfortunately the "hot for teacher" girl will prob be safe another week...they better kick butt if she wants to get into my good graces

They did a good job with it, but this was not that greatest salsa number i have ever seen

DancerX.jpgWhat Dancer X is always looking for is what Dancer X does not expect, and these two mediocrlings did the expected. Every salsa dancer in the world has those moves. It wasn’t embarrassing like the Broadway nonsense, but it was nowhere near as impressive as Will’s ability to upstage Jessica, for example. Completely serviceable salsa, but it’s the same taste as ever. Dancer X is in complete agreement with the judges here. Nothing amazing.

I def agree with Mia saying the choreography was great, but the performance wasn't -Susie was unimpressive with some moves, she seemed a little hesitant

And she looked bad too, what is up with the black in her hair? I thought there were some good moves that they had, but in general, it was disappointing , especially from a salsa dancer like Susie

The hair was a lil weird, but i agree there was good moves like the throw off his shoulders, but those arm moves looked more difficult than it should

Kherington and Twitch are dancing the Viennese Waltz, i love these two...but this should be interesting

I hope they nail it, cause I never want to see these two go away!

DancerX.jpgNice job on your abs, Twitch! Holy christ.

They danced that beautifully, it was really enchanting

Wow. Kherington was beautiful, and Twitch proved that he is so much more than a popper. That dance actually brought tears to my eyes.

I disagreed with Mia on the smiling thing, I thought it was great seeing Kherington smile, and I think she should have been smiling during the dance

I didn't even realize that Kherington had a big smile on her face, I was so lost in that dance. It was AMAZING. Quite possibly the best dance of this show.

DancerX.jpgDancer X must stand apart. If this had been the first performance of the night, Dancer X would have forgotten it three dances in. Dancer X felt like the ponderous sick-daughter backstory here was unfair, as it added a dimension to their dance that is going to influence voters regardless of their level of boredom. This looked like a coffee commercial. Can Dancer X skip to the krumping please?

I think you're going to have to put the krumping on hold, Twitch and Kherington really drew me in with thier dance, I'm think i'm falling in love with this pair

And I am loving Nigel's history lesson. that was awesome. Now we can move on Dancer X...Comfort and Chris are closing out the show with the Krump. Comfort should be awesome at this. Let's see if Chris can keep up

Hmmm, mabye not so much

DancerX.jpgForget Dancer X asked for krumping.

Well, comfort killed that, but Chris was really soft in his moves.

DancerX.jpgPoor Comfort. Dancer X forgot she was there because Chris took up the entire frame. Dancer X is sure she was great.

Comfort really impressed me with her skills, she threw everything at it, but Chris seemed like such a poser

DancerX.jpgFrom the first shot, with this giant white guy attempting the krump, he was distracting and awkward. And it’s not just that he’s white; Gev could have done this and been believable… it’s that Chris’s frame just can’t pull this off. He’s gangly and all limbs. He needs dances with flowing motion and wide expressions. The tight, hard moves of krumping simply do not suit him.

He didn't understand that concept of hitting it "hard". He didn't do bad, he just need to make his body pop a whole lot more than he did.

Oh yeah, he did the moves, but he wasn't into it

DancerX.jpgAnd good job picking a song where half the lyrics have to blanked out.

Holy cow, Nigel gave it to them, he was not impressed

He was absolutely right though. Nigel knows what he is talking about tonight.

BlueSwoosh.jpg

OK, my bottom three for the night starts off with Thayne and Chelsea, they were in the dreaded first position, and they didn't kick butt. Susie and Marquis are in again because she was unimpressive in her category of dance...and i don't like her. Lastly Comfort and Chris, because I think people will remember how much Nigel hated it. I'm hoping beyond all hope that Susie goes home, and I wouldn't be surprised if Marquis joined her.

DancerX.jpgDancer X found Katee and Joshua's Broadway Lite routine reprehensible. Susie and Marquis, Dancer X can't even remember what happened there, it was garden variety salsa. And Chris's pathetic krumping drags down Comfort with him.

Susie and Marquis, Comfort and Chris, and Chelsea and Thayne in my bottom 3 with Susie and Marquis both getting the boot. I like Chelsea, Thayne and Comfort a lot, but I think they just didn't do as well tonight as the others. As for my favorite, no surprise here, Kherington and Twitch. I just can't get over how amazing they were tonight. I also want to give Katee and Joshua, and Chelsie and Mark honorable mentions.

DancerX.jpgDancer X suspects Chris tried but did not try hard enough, and that the female departure will be Susie, who talked big but performed little. Marquis should probably leave, Dancer X agrees with Daphne, but Chris was just so terrible.

My fav performances tonight were a tie between Twitchington and Courtney and Gev, i would be truly surprised to see either team in the bottom three

DancerX.jpgDancer X must lend his considerable weight to Will and Jessica as best for the night, despite Jessica so obviously failing. Courtney and Gev are a close second, but Dancer X feels Courtney was a bit too young to seriously project the drama their piece required.

That is it for tonight, but we'll be back tomorrow with the results. I hope you are all remembering to vote, and won't let us down this week. And don't be afraid to let us know what your opinions are. Remember, Mia said tonight "everyone has their own opinions." So leave us some comments and let us know what you are thinking. Until tomorrow Dance-heads.

SYTYCD Blog #7 - From 20 Down to 18

SYTYCD Blog

The Top 20 is now down to 18 as one guy and one girl take their final bow on SYTYCD. This week contestants had their first chance to dance with their partners and for better or worse they tackled routines from Hip Hop to the Waltz and everything in between. Wade Robson had an interesting group routine where the dancers kidnapped Nigel and we saw performances from a couple of Poppers and the Pussy Cat Dolls.

The bottom three couples were Kortni and Matt, Rayven and Jaime, and Jessica and Will-with Rayven and Jaime heading home.

18 Dancers Left

I can admit when I’m wrong, and I was wrong all around for this bottom three. I wasn’t surprised to see Kortni and Matt take a hit after their Jazz routine; it was a little stiff. Rayven and Jaime had the unenviable first spot and that may have helped in putting them in the bottom three, but Nigel def nailed it saying people only really remembered Jaime getting his pants pulled down. Jessica and Will however was a surprise, Will is a fantastic dancer and Jessica has her moments-I especially didn’t think they’d be bottom three material after the judges loved all over them with their Tango routine. I didn’t think it was the strongest routine, but def not the bottom 3 of the night. Rayven didn’t impress me with her solo and neither did Jaime, so I think the judges were right with what they had to work with.

Well, I can honestly say that this bottom 3 is a shock. I may have called Kourtni and Matt to be in the bottom three, but that doesn’t mean I’d like that. I was beyond shocked with Will and Jessica being in the bottom 3. I think that their tango was one of the four hottest numbers of the night for me. And Jamie and Rayven were just a lot of fun, but I am afraid dancing first was their main downfall. So this was one big surprise tonight. While I think Rayven and Jamie were not the two who should have been sent home overall, I do think that out of the dancer in the bottom 3, I think the judges made the best choices on who to send home. But I do need to say to you, come on America! Don’t make So You Think You Can Dance another disaster like you did with Idol for me. So the highlight of tonight was the opening number. It was a great routine, and I love that they brought Nigel in on it. That may be the closest we ever get to seeing Nigel dance.

The Happening

20th Century Fox Presents The Happening directed by M. Night Shyamalan. It stars Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel, and John Leguizamo.

The HappeningThe Happening is about an epidemic that happens to people in three stages. The first stage is the person looses speech. The second stage is physical disorientation. The third stage is fatal! Wow! So the third stage people start committing suicide?!

I think this movie is interesting and may well be worth it on a Friday the 13th! Just remember that if you start to loose your speech, go get a doctor!

FRINGE - New Show for Fall '08

From J.J. Abrams ("Lost"), Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the team behind "Star Trek," "Mission: Impossible III" and "Alias," comes a new drama that will thrill, terrify and explore the blurring line between science fiction and reality.

FringeWhen an international flight lands at Boston's Logan Airport and the passengers and crew have all died grisly deaths, FBI Special Agent OLIVIA DUNHAM (newcomer Anna Torv) is called in to investigate. After her partner, Special Agent JOHN SCOTT (Mark Valley, "Boston Legal"), is nearly killed during the investigation, a desperate Olivia searches frantically for someone to help, leading her to DR. WALTER BISHOP (John Noble, "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King"), our generation's Einstein. When Olivia's investigation leads her to manipulative corporate executive NINA SHARP (Blair Brown, "Altered States"), our unlikely trio along with fellow FBI Agents PHILLIP BROYLES (Lance Reddick, "The Wire"), CHARLIE FRANCIS (Kirk Acevedo, "Oz") and ASTRID FARNSWORTH (Jasika Nicole, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent") will discover that what happened on Flight 627 is only a small piece of a larger, more shocking truth.

FRINGE is directed by Emmy Award-winning Alex Graves ("The West Wing") and produced by Warner Bros. Television and Bad Robot Productions.

SYTYCD Blog #6 - Hollywood Top 20

SYTYCD Blog

Well, the time has finally come for us to hit that big stage in Hollywood, and start the competition portion of the show. Tonight we have our dear friend, that wild and crazy idol expert, Artie Funk, joining us. What is up Funkster?

You know... I'm just doin' my thang, Daph-Punk. Actually...I'm doin' something that NOT my thang: watching SYTYCD! I've never seen this show in my life, but when Mizz Hart asked me to stop by and chime in, I couldn't break my Hart. But then...when she mentioned that you'd be around, Daphne, you KNOW I couldn't say no! Good to see you again, chica. Miss me?

I wouldn't say I've missed you, Funky Winkerbean, but it's cool to know that my siren song can still draw you in... Plus it seems fitting that you and I reunite in Hollywood, doesn't it?

Yeah, baby! You know it! Full circle, right? Anyways... I have no idea what's going on with this Dance-Off, but I'm still stoked to get this party started, dawg!

Wait a second! You two know each other, too? First Collins and now ARTIE?? Wow. I need time to process this. But in the meantime, don’t worry Mr. Funk, we know dancing isn't really your thang, so we’ll go easy on you. Dan Karaty was the guest judge on SYTYCD to join Mary and Nigel on the judging panel.

Rayven and Jamie are the first two to be partnered up. They are doing hip hop tonight

Let's see what a ballroom and ballet dancer can do

lol i loved the pants down move...i think he was packing something

haha

what'd you think of that Artie?

I thought that particular move was...ballsy! Heh

You know for not being hip hoppers, they did a great job

yeah it was fun to watch, but it was kind of easy for hip hop

I thought they had a good thing goin'. The routine was pretty smooth, fun and light-hearted. And I think the goofy feel is kinda the opposite of what you think of when you hear 'hip-hop routine'... I tend to think of more in-your-face attitude.

Yeah, It didn't have the normal additude of hip hop, but I still enjoyed it.

I think i agree with Dan saying...not bad not great.

My fav part was when she was shakin' her booty at him. Overall, seemed pretty good, but not cuh-raaaazaaay good or anything.

Why am I not surprised...Next up we've got "hot for teacher" Susie and Marquis will be trying out the smooth waltz...so far I'm not a huge fan of Susie so i hope she can impress

so there was a bit of a mess there during the lift. But beyond that, it was a nice dance.

yeah it was pretty, and they had good emotion, but i'm not sure who held who back on that lift

I agree, the dude's moves looked smoove, but the lady seemed less...fluid. I thought that whole routine looked awkward and forced, all the way through, at least on her part.

looked like there was some Susie leg issues going on there.
yeah, i'm thinking Marquis is the more experienced of the two

I don't think they worked well together. There was no meshing. Some of it was pretty, but I wasn't a big fan of this pair.
Kourtni and Matt are up next. The are put to the challange of a Mandy Moore Jazz routine.

Hmm. That whole thing left me a bit puzzled. I just didn't get it. I guess some of the moves were pretty sweet, but I wasn't overly impressed.

That was very 80's, and not just due to the music

Mandy did a great job with the routine, it was def one to remember. both of them danced a little stiff though. Art-Star?

Danny Noriega and Anna Faris didn't do much for me. The most interesting thing for me outta this dance, was watching the dude try to get the fake diamond into his pocket while continuing to dance. That's just me, tho.

Really? you saw Danny Noriega and Anna Faris? I think Kourtni was looking more Uma than ever what about you Daphne?

I do agree with Nigel saying Princess Di tonight, but she will always be an Uma look-a-like in my mind. I really like Kourtni

Chelsea and Thayne are up next doing the Cha Cha...and btw I totally think Thayne is cute

He's cute, but i wouldn't go farther than saying that.

Wow that was one hot little number

Yeah! THAT'S what I'm talkin' about! To me, THAT was some dancin', y'all!!

Wait, after that dance, maybe I would say thayne is a bit hot.

both the dancing and Chelsea's dress!

Dude! What dress?!? That's a boa with accents. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. Whatever it was, though, she shook it all over the place, dude. And they were in sync with each other, hardcore. I thought that was entertaining. Ladies?

It was hot all around.

they really did a great job, and made it look easy

Nice to see people who can shake their booties and dance on top of it....Chelsie and Mark are up next doing a contemporary routine

Mia Michaels always comes up with something interesting, I think Chelsie did a great job, but i felt like it was a bit beauty and the beast

Are you talking about Chelsie's dress? It was a little too fluffy

Yo. That whole thing was too fluffy for me, yo. What WAS that?? Ugh.

no no, i mean with Mark He just seemed like a weird partner for her

This is so not the show for me. I don't get it. I do get that folding that chick in half is impressive, and that lifting her up off the floor while you're horizontally spread out, all while she's wearing an incredibly distracting dress, takes talent. But what was the rest of it? Especially that crazy "Let's Stretch Our Faces At Each Other" Move? HUH?!? I'm so confused. And not in a "I just watched Memento and I have no idea what just happened, but I know I liked it" way.

Yeah the face stretching was a def weird

Well, Artie, I thought in general it was a very interesting routine

Twitch and Kherington (two of my favorite people) are doing a Broadyway routine

I think they are going to make a great pair.

That was pretty cool, I must admit. It brought me back from nearly quitting in the middle of this thing...so it must've been pretty good!

I don't know if I am biased (I sure hope not) but that was FANTASTIC!

I love Twitchington!! They are so much fun to watch! Kherington has so much joy when she dances, i love it!

The two of them are just perfect together. I couldn't think of a better pair. And they nailed that dance.

How could you not vote for these two?

I'm not voting so hard...that everybody else on the show just got a vote. Somehow. Dawgg.

Ugh! Artie. You just don't get it.

True. I've been saying that this whole time.

I don't know. I am ready to dial their number right now. Anyway....next up: Comfort and Chris. They are doing the Jive!

She's a hip hop dancer...seriously?? seriously?? 'cause she does a pretty mean Jive…in beads no less

Word up. I enjoy the costumes that accentuate the boo-tay, and Comfort's outfit was doin' just that. Their moves were pretty good, but I wouldn't put 'em in the "Awesome" category.

Comfort never came across as a girl who has a body like "woah" but man she looks great.

Chris did a great job too, but Comfort stole that show

My biggest issue with the dance is it felt a little slow. I wish it were a little more upbeat. Not that it wasn't upbeat, it just wasn't as fast I thought it should be. But they did a wonderful job with it.

Well it sounds like they had to ease it up a little bit after she dislocated her shoulder

perhaps. At any rate, they deserve many votes from all the kiddies out there.

Katee (who came this close to being cut)and Joshua are doing Hip Hop

This wasn't a fun dance like the other ones, it was rather emotional. But that doesn't mean it wasn't as good as the other dances. It was nicely done

Yeah i really enjoyed it, it came pretty naturally to Joshua being a popper, but Katee really tore it up too. They made a great pair and i loved that move where she pulled him off the floor...effortless

I thought that was cool. Pretty smooth moves on both their parts, but I was confused. Were they angry at each other? I dunno. Regardless of the story they were trying to tell, I thought they did a pretty good job. And that chick totally stole that guy's shirt! Ha!

Jessica and Will might be heating things up a bit with the Tango.

it was hot, i don't know if it was smoking but it was hot

I gotta agree with you. It was pretty good, but not EN FUEGO. I may not know much about dance, but I DO know that tango is all about passion. And for a tango to be authentic, passion needs to ooze outta those dancers. There was clean, decent dancing, but there was no oozing.

I'll have to agree with Jessica that Will is a great looking guy. But Jessica is a great looking girl. And I think that was a HOT number!

I think Will did a great job, Jessica was good too, but a little weak on the heels...I do NOT agree with Mary saying they're the couple to beat

Neither do I, but they are One of the couples to beat.

Courtney and Gev are doing Disco, I hope they do well because Courtney is an early fav for me

I like Courtney a lot as well, and Gev as well.

Yo! I dig Kelly Clarkson's dancing here with Rob Schneider. She's really branching out! And the fact that she did a disco song is HOT! I totally love disco and funk songs, and Earth, Wind and Fire rocks the house!

That dance is the only reason why disco should never die.

That, and the fun it inspires in crazy amateur dancers such as yours truly at wedding receptions. Git down tonight! Anyways... the routine was cool. I liked it, but I wouldn't say they're top of the pile for the night. Does my heart good to see that (at least in some ways), disco never really died.

They def had fun with that routine, but i wanted to see more big moves The two of them were really in rhythm with their moves though

I thought they did a good job with it. It was lots of fun, and they did good with what they were given to do.

I agree, Nigel was a little hard on them, Mary was a little easy on them...I think Dan nailed it

BlueSwoosh.jpg

Bottom 3 couples for me were Susie and Marquis, Chelsie and Mark, and Kourtni and Matt. I enjoyed Kourtni and Matt, and I do not want to see Kourtni go anytime soon, but compared to the other routines, theirs just wasn't the best.

My bottom three couples are Susie and Marquis, unfortunatly Courtney and Gev, and Chelsie and Mark. I think Susie and Marquis were the weakest routine with that lift issue.

As a guest judge who's never...EVER seen this show before, I don't feel qualified to predict who's going home. I'm going to, though. I think Susie and Marquis did the worst of the night, so I think one or both of them are gone. My faves of the night were Chelsea and Thayne, with Twitch and Kherington coming up with the Honorable Mention.

I think Susie and Mark will be the two sent home. My favorites were Twitch and Kherington, Chelsea and Thayne, and Will and Jessica, oh, and maybe Comfort and Chris. Oh, who am I kidding, except for Susie and Marquis, and Chelsie and Mark, I loved them all.

Twitchington was my number 1 team, they were great, but Chelsea and Thayne are a close second. I agree Susie is going home, but I think they'll break up the pairs by sending Mark home...in less he can really impress in the solo, which he's done before.

agreed. I think Marquis is more talented than Mark.

I have no idea what that means...but this has been fun, girls. Just gettin' to hang with you two lovelies makes it all worth it! Maybe I'll be back later on in the summer for another round, so keep your dance cards clear.

Aww, Artie, no matter how little you know about dancing, you always do bring the charm, sir.

Please do come back! It's always a good time when we hang, Funkatron.

Back atcha, Daphy Duck. Artie's peacin' out for now. Later on, Danceheads!

Well, that’s all we’ve got for today folks, we’ll be back tomorrow with a roundup of the highs and lows and see who’s sticking around for next week. Leave us a comment and let us know who you think will be sticking around and who should head home!

Sit Down, Shut Up - New Show for Fall '08

From Emmy Award-winning writer Mitchell Hurwitz ("Arrested Development") and Eric and Kim Tannenbaum ("Two and a Half Men") comes SIT DOWN, SHUT UP, an animated comedy that focuses on the lives of eight staff members at a high school in a small northeastern fishing town (Go Baiters!) who never lose sight of the fact that the children must ALWAYS come second. We watch them grapple with their own egos, needs and personal agendas, their petty insecurities and prejudices, unrequited loves, and ruthless battles for power - and that's just at the staff meeting.

Sit Down, Shut UpSUE SEZNO (Kenan Thompson, "Saturday Night Live"), a woman who frequently says "no," is the acting principal of the school (the actual principal is recovering from a series of unfortunate accidents that might be seen as escape attempts). Then there's Vice Principal STUART PROZACKIAN (Will Forte, "Saturday Night Live") who has a terrifically positive and upbeat attitude...possibly from the performance-enhancing medication he's been secretly put on by the other teachers.

There is one educator who feels the focus should be on academics, but despite the old adage, at this school, those who can teach, teach gym - and that's where LARRY SLIMP (Jason Bateman, "Juno," "Arrested Development") has been exiled to. Immensely frustrated, Larry nurses a crush on science teacher MIRACLE GROHE (Maria Bamford, "Stuart Little 2"), a woman whose superficial grasp on science is balanced by her superficial grasp on spirituality.

Rounding out the staff is the aging German teacher WILLARD DEUTSCHEBOG (Henry Winkler, "Arrested Development," "Happy Days"), a deeply defeated man whose yearbook quotation reads "If I believed in reincarnation, I'd kill myself tonight." Uptight HELEN KLENCH (Cheri Oteri, "Saturday Night Live"), a librarian whose life's work in research and archiving can now be surpassed by the average Google search from the average cell phone. Proud ANDREW SAPIEN (Nick Kroll, "Best Week Ever," "Cavemen") is the flamboyant drama teacher. And finally there's HAPPY (Tom Kenny, "SpongeBob SquarePants"), the plotting secretive custodian who's assumed to be Hispanic despite the fact that his real name is Muhannad Sabeeh Fa'ach Nuaba.

With a distinctive new look - a combination of animation against a live-action backdrop - SIT DOWN, SHUT UP is a series for the young and old at heart. It lampoons modern society while exposing the dreams, flaws and struggling humanity of our first and most formative authority figures: teachers.

Based on the hit live-action Australian series, SIT DOWN, SHUT UP is written and executive-produced by Mitchell Hurwitz and executive-produced by Eric and Kim Tannenbaum and Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein (THE SIMPSONS, "Futurama").

SYTYCD Blog #5: Vegas! We've Got a Top 20!

SYTYCD Blog

Well it's been a fun couple weeks, but now it's time to get down to business in Vegas. We've got over 200 dancers in Sin City to battle it out for the top 20 spots.

WOOOOO!!!! Vegas! I am so ready for tonight.

We have a slew of judges and choreographers for day 1 in Vegas...first up a hip hop routine...and they have 1 hour to learn it

Uh oh, Robert Muraine, the totally awesome popper from LA auditions seems to be having some problems

I love this guy so much, i really hope he can handle it

He wants to go home though, and that is disappointing.

Yeah, but at least it's for not bringing someone else down

A strong enough dancer can shine even with a crappy partner though. He needs to give it a try.

WOW this guys is made out of rubber!! I loved him before, but now i loooove him even more!

I think he has the talent to do this, just maybe not the memory to get through the choreography. I am so sad to see him decide to go home though.

What?! I'm so upset, how could he do that!

Robert had the potential to be one of the best and he gave up. It is extremely sad to see him go. But it was his choice. And he has to live with that.

Courtney Galiano
Courtney Galiano

Courtney Galiano one of my favorite dancers is through and Rebecca Hart is cut after coming back twice to audition.

I agree with you on that one. Courtney is one that sticks out in my mind from auditions. So I am glad to see her through.

Ricky Sun, DJ Ryann Race are also not talented enough to stick around.

I'm not really surprised, I wasn't impressed by either

Claire Callaway gets cut after making it to Vegas a second time, I loved her in season 2...but she just didn't have the spark this year...and she couldn't remember the choreography

I think Claire had potential, but just couldn't cut it. But 129 dancers made it through to day 2 though.

And they're gonna have to take on Tice Diorio's ballroom routine

Erika Gee, who I really enjoyed in LA, did not make through. But her partner for this round, Britney made it through.

We had a big crowd put through including "hot for teacher" Susie

Twin brothers Anthony and Antwain Hart, who we first saw in Charleston. Antwain had to save Anthony and get him through to Vegas, but here, it seems Anthony was the better of the two because he was kept while Antwain was sent home.

Athony is one lucky guy, he owes his brother big

that is for sure.

After lunch on day two we're down to 94 dancers and now we have a fox trot

Joshua Allen
Joshua Allen

Joshua Allen, a popper, and Comfort a hip hop dancer managed to breeze through the fox trot with no trouble.

I'm glad they made it, you could tell they really wanted it oh god Paige Jones is next

Rhinestone Cowgirl! Paige's partner Will is not doing so hot, so He'll have to dance for his life, and Paige will be asked to dance with another guy.

Stephen
Stephen Twitch Boss

Stephen “Twitch” Boss made it through along with a bunch of others haha, glad the pageant girl didn't go through

I like Paige. Didn't love her, but I liked her.

I liked seeing her cry…haha that was really mean

Yes it was.

Jeremiah Hughes the hottie from charleston auditions danced for his life and made it!

I am happy about that. Will, Paige's partner from earlier today, didn't make it through to the next round after dancing for his life.

uh oh they're making Vegas harder, they're getting music to choreograph in a group

I think that it is a fantastic idea. Should really help the judges see the real stars.

It makes sense, they'll be doing group numbers in the show

Twitch and Bianca Revels group is up first.

I thought the tapping was a last min throw in at first, but i guess it was on purpose...not sure it worked

I'm surprised only one of them is dancing for their life after that performance

I like both Twtich and Bianca, so I am glad to see them safe, but I do agree it was a bit of a mess.

And it looks like they weren't the only one, a bunch of groups sucked it up on the stage...The Angels and Demons group seemed better off though

They seem to be at each other's throats though.

....if they can stop fighting

Maybe that is why they called themselves Angels and Demons

It seems like all the bickering did them a world of good.

Yeah i really liked their routine, it really worked for them...and the judges-all of them are safe

They had Comfort in their group, and I believe she may be one of the best in this competition.

68 dancers are left on day 3 and they have Mia Michaels to work with...it's going to be rough

Lizz Plott seems to be having problems with Mia's choreography But she did a great job

yeah, and the judges really noticed, i'm not sure i really liked her talking to the judges like that....she should have kept her mouth shut

I agree...And so do the judges cause she is out

I hope the other dancers see that it cost her a spot

Jeremiah is up next. Us girls are pulling for him.

He's having trouble with the choreography though and he walked off stage!

ARG! Not quite so cute anymore.

Ooooh three steps back and he's cut

Mia's a tough one. 22 dancers couldn't handle it and were sent home

Twitch is dancing for his life along with Sheila Kaiser. And he gets through. I love Twitch, he is one of my personal favorites. but Sheila has been cut

She's heading back to Charleston

We move onto the final day where the dancers have one final chance to impress the judges.

I don't know about the judges, but i'm impressed with a lot of these dancers, we're gonna have a good group this year

Kelli Baker, daughter of a choreographer is the first one cut, but i hope she comes back, she's a great dancer

I really thought she was one of the ones to beat in this competition. Courtney Galiano is another I really like, and she is through.

Susie Garcia
Susie Garcia

Yeah she was one of my early favorites, Wow "hot for teacher" Susie Garcia is in along with Chelsia Hightower

Kourtni Lind
Kourtni Lind

Uma Thurman look-a-like Kourtni Lind also has made it through to the top 20

Bianca the Tap Dancer is cut along with twin Anthony Hart

Joshua Allen is through to the top 20.

haha and they made it into an intergation Twitch is heading down the gangplank, last year he didn't make it...but this year he's making it to the top 20!

YES!!! YES! YES! YES!!!! I love Twitch.

Kherington Payn is in the top 20, i really liked this girl!

Derrick Spears, who Nigel has berated a few times for talking so much, was sent home.

Jessica King
Jessica King

one of the people in his group Jessica king is in

William Wingfield
William Wingfield

William Wingfield, who I wasn't totally thrilled with the first time I saw him, has indeed made it to the top 20.

Gev Manoukia
Gev Manoukia

Gev Manoukian the Salt Late breakdancer is in and Brandon Bryant is out...i'm blown away. I thought Brandon was going far he had such a strong routine in his first audition

I remember liking both of them, but only one could make it and it was Gev. Katee Shean and Natalie Reid the crazy roommates from Milwaukee are pitted against each other for the final female contestant spot.

I think Katee saying she wouldn't come back again may have changed the judges minds...uh oh you need to keep your mouths shut in front of the judges

Katee is still through, even though the judges second guessed it, and Natalie is sent home, but Natalie claims she will be back, and i hope so.

After hearing from both the girls, i'm a lil disappointed Natalie isn't in

I am as well. but then again, I think Katee spoke without thinking, and i don't think she meant what she said.

THIS IS YOUR SEASON 4 TOP 20!

DOLLHOUSE - New Show for Fall '08

Joss Whedon, creator of groundbreaking cult favorites "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly," returns to television and reunites with fellow "Buffy" alumna Eliza Dushku for a thrilling new drama, DOLLHOUSE.

DollhouseECHO (Dushku) is an "Active," a member of a highly illegal and underground group who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas. Confined to a secret facility known as the "Dollhouse," Echo and the other Actives including SIERRA (Dichen Lachman, "Neighbours") and VICTOR (Enver Gjokaj, "The Unit") carry out engagements assigned by ADELLE (Olivia Williams, "X-Men: The Last Stand," "Rushmore"), one of the Dollhouse leaders. The engagements cater to the wealthy, powerful and connected, and require the Actives to immerse themselves in all manner of scenarios - romantic, criminal, uplifting, dangerous, comical and the occasional "pro bono" good deed.

After each scenario, Echo, always under the watchful eye of her handler BOYD (Harry Lennix, "Commander in Chief," 24), returns to the mysterious Dollhouse where her thoughts, feelings and experiences are erased by TOPHER (Fran Kranz, "Welcome to the Captain"), the Dollhouse's genius programmer. Echo enters the next scenario with no memory of before. Or does she?

As the series progresses, FBI Agent PAUL SMITH (Tahmoh Penikett, "Battlestar Galactica") pieces together clues that lead him closer to the Dollhouse, while Echo stops forgetting, her memories begin to return and she slowly pieces together her mysterious past.

Produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Mutant Enemy Inc., DOLLHOUSE revolves around Echo's blossoming self-awareness and her desire to discover her true identity. But with each new engagement, comes a new memory and increased danger inside and outside the Dollhouse.

Shirley Manson Stars in a Role On Terminator

Garbage front-woman Shirley Manson has announced she will be pursuing a career on the small screen and joining the cast of the Fox TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Shirley MansonOn the show, Scottish-born Manson will play Catherine Weaver, the “CEO of Cyberdyne, a cutting edge hi-tech company” and the producer of the T-800, Model 101 and Skynet, “a network of supercomputers that employ artificial intelligence in order to replace human beings as commercial and military aircraft pilots, and for the control of other military systems, including nuclear missiles.” (Thanks, Wikipedia!)

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Terminator TV series was the highest-rated new scripted series of the 2007-2008 season. And while Manson will now be showing the world why some cyborgs are only happy when it rains, this doesn’t mean she’s abandoned her musical career altogether. Her debut solo album, which features contributions by Beck, Jack White and Billy Corgan, is scheduled to be released sometime later this year.

SYTYCD Blog #4 - Wisconsin and Milwaukee

SYTYCD Blog

Tonight we head off to the Great state of Wisconsin, and hit Brew City, Milwaukee, the home of the greats like the Fonz, Lavern and Shirley. But before the audition process starts, we are going to look back at a few great auditions we didn't get to see from other cities

Sounds good to me, I love doing the look back when we have good dancers to check out, I never get enough of the ones that come to impress…it’s the “dancers” that are just trying to make it on TV that annoy me. First up is Michael Kim, he came back from season 2 where he got to vegas but salsa sent him home. This year he brought back some great popping and locking

All Poppers take notes. This is what it is all about. The way his body snaps and pops is the way it should be done. He was fantastic, so crisp and clean in his movements. Amazing.

I'm so glad the judges sent him straight to Vegas

Me too...that was AMAZING! One of my favorties from last year. Not so dirty if you know what we're talking about. We have two crazy roomies, Katee Shean and Natalie Reid, who spend most of their free time doing crazy workouts together taking the stage next. First up is Katee. Katee was fun, but also graceful and full of talent.

I loved these two, they're the kind of girls you fall in love with. Katee really enjoyed herself dancing, and was a pleasure to watch Natalie looks like a contemporary popper, which is really cool

Katee went straight through, and it was Natalie's turn.

she is sooo interesting!

Natalie is different, and in a good way. Very interesting. Very cool, kind of had what i would say an African dance feel to it. doesn't just look good, she moves great!

yeah almost, i agree with the judges calling it captivating, unique, and honest

And it looks like the two friends get to keep on doing their crazy workouts together in Vegas, becasue Natalie is through too.

well you can't break up a pair

It'd be like splitting up Clyde and Artie

Or you and Clyde!

You had to go there...didn't you?

haha you had to see that coming

Let's not talk about that anymore...let's talk about dancing.

ok ok, Janette Manrara and Romulo Villaverde are up next from the D.C. auditions...they're doing the salsa, and it looks hot hot hot

I love the Salsa. Their tricks are amazing...but look at Romulo, his foot work is a bit sloopy in the actual dancing parts. But she is fantastic

i loved his lifts and holds though! Her legs are fantastic

His tricks were indeed fantastic. It was an awesome dance.

I didn't even notice his mistakes, because i was blown away by the tricks

They were a great pair, and most definitely entertaining

I'm really surprised they were sent to choreography, Janette was sent to Vegas but Romulo wasn't strong enough to go through to Vegas

Finally we hit Milwaukee.

The judges are joined by choreographers Napoleon and Tabitha to see what the city has to offer

First up is Bianca Revels. AND THANK YOU! Finally a Tap dancer!!! Nothing thrills me more than Tap. I love it.

well i loved her feet...but i wasn't impressed by her arms...looked a little limp

I LOVED IT!

I honestly thought she should have gone to choreography before Vegas, but the judges sent her through.

James Davis was certainly fun to watch...but maybe not simply irresistable

I am sorry, but the footloose thing only works if your name is Kevin Bacon.

haha, yeah it was a lot of jumping around, not a lot of dancing

The sent him packing...thankfully.

Evan Kasprzak is next out of the gate. I wasn't so sure about this guy at first, but he has some good moves.

I really enjoyed him, he seemed really original and fun to watch, I loved all the moves with the hat, and he gets some serious height with the jumps

I dig the old school stuff that he did.

Yay straight to Vegas!

Victor Campos did a silly pop dance as he called it...but it was just weird then he had to go and be rude to the judges, big mistake

Oh the guy who wanted to be Zorro, and probably hit a few brewery tours before his audtion. He was a waste of time.

well he seemed like he was trying to be confident, but you could tell he was super nervous on stage...and just ended up bumbling around enough about him...next

Like I said he sampled one too many on those brewery tours. But next. Travis France was at least fun to watch, unlike drunk Zorro. His toe Touches are great.

yeah, but that's all he had going for him He was a jumping bean, but really no dancing at all

none what-so-ever. but a nicer guy.

Kourtni Lind came to auditions with her mom for support, but i think they looked more like sisters

Kourtni does look like someone. She had great control

i loved her, i think Mia Michaels would go crazy on this girl

Oh yeah...Mia would love her.

the choreography was very in depth, she used her whole body

Nigel thinks she looks like Uma Thurman...I might have to agree on that one. The nose, the smile. Uma can Dance.

The judges loved her as much as we did, and she's through to Vegas.

Tom Kozal was up next, and he already got a point for using new Britney music. He gets another point for being highly amusing. But that might be where the points stop.

yeah, he was seriously flamboyant he made me laugh though :)

He is definitely a fun guy. But he needs to stick to Dancing with the Goats.

haha, well he's going home to play with those earless goats

Ashley Henry can shake it like whoa...but can't dance

She's a firecracker though. Lots of energy!

oh yeah, i love her personality...but this isn't the show for her..it's not "So you think you can Shake"

I know, or else you'd whoop up on this show Julie.

lol, I can drop it like it’s hot but I can’t believe this girl’s shimmy shakes won her way into the choreography...there's no way she can make it to Vegas though

I'll agree on that one. But maybe the choreography will do her some good.

Susie Garcia, the "school teacher" is up next. I hope here students enjoy this one.

I was thinking something along the same lines I think she was trying a bit too hard.

I think Nigel let little Nigel make his decision to send her to choreography

Yeah, but at the same time, she may have more to give. I'm not giving up on her quite yet.

Rebecca Hart is back for the second time this season, the judges turned her down in LA, but maybe things will be different further east?

I think she made a smart move coming back. She was quite good.

yeah, she has the talent, she just put it in the wrong package before

I really wish we could have seen more of her first audition, so we could compare. But from the way the judges talk this girl made major and the right changes to send her off to Vegas.

she's seriously lucky, not a lot of people would have the guts to come back just too weeks later, but she was able to wow the judges

Brice Casimir was up next.

he could move, but he wasn't interacting with the judges

Yeah, he had some amazing moves. But he just didn't connect. But the judges are giving him another go in Choreography.

Let's see if these guys can handle what Travis dishes out

Brice's fate was dished out first, and it was a no.

Ashley Henry wasn't able to talk her way into Vegas either

Susie, our Hot for Teacher lady is going off to Vegas though, along with 11 other dancers.

They still have another day to go though and Cooper Zamorano started off day two with a bang. this guy was cute and he can dance! I loved his contemporary style...and that move with his hips on the floor def got me thinking...

Oh Julie, he definitely was cute, but then again my standards are low (ie Clyde), but my dancing standards are high, and he impressed me.

Whoooa there, Clyde's not even here to defend himself! Oh, well...

He'll get me later, don't you worry. Until then, it's a free for all. Anyway, Yesenia Gomez, who got far in Vegas last year is back for another go.

She looks great this year, she lost 50 lbs and came back full force I can't belive her knee went out in the middle of her routine

She started out rather good. So it is a shame.

She's an amazing person to be able to turn her life around, the judges want her to get her knee better before she comes back to dance..I really hope she comes back to show her stuff

Yes, I am looking forward to seeing her again next year.

Yesenia's frind Phillip Courter up next with a weird but interesting pop, break, something routine?

He wasn't the best we've ever seen. But he had some entertaining moves.

He's going to Vegas, but I highly doubt we'll see him in our top 20

Once again Julie, I'll agree there. If he does make it through, it will be shocking.

Raymond Love, Julie Heart's cousin, has his audition next. After being stopped and scolded by Nigel for not showing any love to his nameless partner, he gave his real audition.

Mr. Love did better his second time around, but he started in with Nigel, which is very tricky, the judges loved his choreography, and it was enough to keep him around a little longer

He has some serious potential. Hopefully he shows that in choreography.

I agree, if he were to make it further, i'd like to see what kind of solos he'd do. Hao Hou came on stage next in an interesting tribal outfit. he was pretty unsteady on his feet though

This guy should have been doing fire dancing at a luau

haha, he matched mary in the leopard print

I think I'm as much at a lack of words as the judges.

Lizz Plott brings some more tap to the competition. I got two tap dancers in one day! Yea! And of course I thought she was fantastic

I think Lizz was way better than Bianca, and I loved her performance and personality

Lizz is more loveable. And she is off to Vegas.

Now on to the choreography...Raymond Love is out

No love for Love, but 11 others made it through on the second day.

we've got just one more mystery dancer left

wow...that was a show

Oh my gosh. That was hilarious.

It was Travis!! I have to see that again, i don't believe it!

Lack of Mohawk throws me off.

that was fantastic!

I don't know if my Travis crush just got worse, or better.

I can't believe he danced in drag, he really had that down...mannerism and all

Great way to end the audition process.

oh yeah, now it's full speed ahead to Vegas! I'm so excited I can't wait!

Yes, soon we will know who our top 20 are.

Stay tuned tomorrow it’s gonna get serious after that!

DO NOT DISTURB - New Show for Fall '08

DO NOT DISTURB (working title) is a hilarious workplace comedy set at one of New York City's hottest and hippest hotels: The Inn. Named one of the Big Apple's "10 Best Places to Stay," The Inn is just that - the "in" place to be, with its chic decor, stylish staff and celebrity clientele. Behind the scenes, however, the upstairs/downstairs dynamic tells quite a different story.

Do Not DisturbThe hotel's top-notch reputation and sophisticated look is due in large part to NEAL (Jerry O'Connell, "Crossing Jordan") - at least in his opinion. Although The Inn's charismatic owner R.J. (guest star Robert Wagner) takes all the credit, Neal is the egotistical, hyper-stylish, detail-oriented general manager who will do whatever it takes to keep the hotel and its employees up to his standards.

RHONDA (Niecy Nash, "Reno 911!") is the head of Human Resources who also keeps Neal's demands in check. She's brash, fabulous and brutally honest and runs the HR department from her bullpen downstairs with a set of rules that are all her own. Rhonda does her best to keep the back of the house in line and the front of the house out of trouble.

At the front desk handling check-in while wearing 6-inch Manolos is NICOLE (Molly Stanton, "Twins"), an aging model who is svelte, cynical and slightly starving. Fresh from Nebraska is JASON (Brando Eaton, "Zoey 101"), the naive bellman who would prefer to work behind-the-scenes but was hired to show off his chiseled face and perfect pecs at the front of the hotel.

The downstairs staff includes MOLLY (Jolene Purdy, "Donnie Darko"), a reservations clerk who dreams of pop-singer stardom as much as she craves to be part of the action upstairs; and LARRY (Jesse Tyler Ferguson, "The Class"), the head of housekeeping who spends more time on the phone cleaning up his messes at home, than he does cleaning up after the guests upstairs.

DO NOT DISTURB, a 20th Century Fox Television production in association with Reveille, LLC and Principato-Young Productions, is written by Abraham Higginbotham ("Arrested Development") and executive-produced by Howard Owens ("30 Days," "Nashville Star"), Carolyn Bernstein, Paul Young ("Reno 911!"), Peter Principato ("Reno 911!") and Brian Dobbins ("Adopted"). Jason Bateman serves as director of the pilot.

The Cleveland Show - New Show for Fall '08

Many years ago, CLEVELAND BROWN (voiced by Mike Henry) was a high school student madly in love with a beautiful girl named DONNA. Much to his dismay, his love went unrequited, and Donna wound up marrying another man. Cleveland once told Donna he would always love her, and if this man ever done her wrong, he'd be there when she called.

Well, this man done her wrong.

cleveland.jpgDonna's husband skipped town with another woman, leaving Donna with a daughter and a baby. Now she's come to Cleveland and offered him another chance at love. Unattached after the Loretta-Quagmire debacle and true to his word, Cleveland joyously accepts and he and CLEVELAND JR. move to Stoolbend, VA, to join their new family.

Once in Stoolbend, Cleveland has a few surprises in store for him, including a flirtatious new stepdaughter, a 5-year-old stepson who loves the ladies, as well as a collection of neighbors that includes a loudmouth redneck couple, a British family seemingly stuck in the Victorian era and a family of bears living at the end of the block.

FAMILY GUY was only the beginning. Get ready for THE CLEVELAND SHOW (working title)!

The series is written and executive-produced by Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY, AMERICAN DAD), Rich Appel (THE SIMPSONS, KING OF THE HILL) and Mike Henry (FAMILY GUY).

Clay Aiken to Be a Dad?

A spokesman for a relative of the mother has confirmed that Clay Aiken is about to be a father. The 29-year-old American Idol celeb has conceived with his best friend, music producer Jaymes Foster. 50-year-old Foster became pregnant through artificial insemination, with Aiken being the donor, says a representative for record mogul David Foster, who is Jaymes' brother.

clayaiken_1.jpgFoster is due in August and Aiken says he has plans to be an involved father, says People.com. But the bigger questions still loom large. For a performer who has been dogged by rumors for years, he can probably expect them to fly even more furiously.

Message board posts are already buzzing with speculations about the "couple", their relationship, the insemination, and the mother's age. Blog posters at the San Francisco chronicle are already showing support as fans while simultaneously expressing dismay, particularly about Foster's age and Aiken's rumored sexual orientation. "I don't think this news was on anyone's Claydar," said one poster.

Aiken and Foster both can probably expect this to be only the beginning of a media fervor. Remember the hoopla over the mother of Michael Jackson's children? Angelina Jolie can also bear witness to the fact that journalists and paparazzi are nuts for celebrity babies, and if there's a twist to the story, so much the better.

Clay Aiken, Jaymes Foster as well as the baby-to-be are in for a rollercoaster ride of media madness. If Aiken can put out a CD in the interim, he can expect even more crazed publicity. I'm sure the reports are just beginning. Will they be up to the task? Time will tell, but in the meantime, ready the Sperm-a-Lot jokes.
