TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS, one of America’s greatest rock and roll bands, will perform in the BRIDGESTONE SUPER BOWL XLII HALFTIME SHOW on FOX43 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona on Sunday, February 3, the NFL announced today on national television during the FOX NFL SUNDAY pre-game show.

The halftime show is one of the most anticipated musical events of the year. Nearly 140 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year’s show.

TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS released their debut album in 1976. Since that time they have sold more than 50 million records and earned a reputation as being among the most successful and exciting touring acts in the business. Between the Heartbreakers’ recordings and his solo work, Tom Petty has received 18 Grammy nominations. Honored with lifetime achievement awards including Billboard’s Century Award, MTV’s Video Vanguard Award, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Tom Petty, with the Heartbreakers at his side, has achieved the status of legend among his fellow musicians and listeners worldwide.

We are pleased to announce that FOX will be hosting the 72nd annual AT&T COTTON BOWL CLASSIC on Tuesday, January 1, 2008, featuring the NCAA Big 12 Conference vs. the Southeastern Conference in Dallas, Texas!

Exact teams for the game are TBD and will be announced in early December. The game will air live from 11:30am – 3:00pm ET.

The American League Championship Series on FOX will begin, Friday, October 12th on FOX.

The 2007 World Series is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 24th. The World Series will continue to follow a 2-3-2 format, meaning that off-days will be scheduled on the ensuing Friday and Tuesday. FOX Sports will broadcast the 103rd World Series.

XM Satellite Radio today announced it has reached a multi-year agreement with FOX Sports to become the exclusive satellite radio network of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) National Championship Game and other BCS games, beginning January 2008.
