Home poker games: Where and for how much?
I wrote about home poker games in today's Showtime section, angling my story off a book by local resident John Bond (he's a whole 'nother post, or even book, for another time).
The state helped me clear up the legalities, and Bond had tips for keeping a game civil and just an overall outlook.
But I want to take it a step further on this blog, really get a feel for who's playing what out there.
So send me some info about your home game: how often, what are the stakes, what games you're playing and whether the growth of card rooms in South Florida has affected your game.
This is a topic I'd like to poke around some, so please send me your story.

We play every saturday for the past 7 years with the same group of 9-11 friends. 40$ buy in, rebuys through the 3rd round, 20 minute rounds (on an old egg timer so rounds are anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes in reality) we like it so we arent going to replace the timer.
start with 10,000 in chips
rebuy of $40 gets you 6,000 in chips.
top 3 pays unless TOTAL buy in's (initial and re)is less than 15 - then only top 2 pay.
and the local card rooms dont affect ANY of us honestly. The card room tourneys are not worth the money, buy in for $70 to win $140? no way! or start with 2000 with 10 minute rounds? no thanks..
all the local card rooms formats gear the game towards luck and not skill which is great for the poker boom of late, but not appreciated by all of us 'real' players... those who have been playing weekly well before it was on TV..
if they would add some tourney's or cash games that didnt have ridiculous rules (im just asking for vegas style rules really) then I think it would benefit everyone.
until then - let the morons spend 70 to win 140.
Thanks!
