Phil Simms at Hollywood Hard Rock for the big game
Former NFL star Phil Simms of the New York Giants will headline "Rock the Game" festivities Sunday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Simms was the MVP in Super Bowl XXI. He's now a color commentator on CBS football games.
But to hang out with Simms, you need to pay $100 and entry the casino’s “Big Game Lottery.” Provided enough people buy tickets, the casino will draw a name at halftime and award him or her $50,000. Fewer entries will mean a lower jackpot.
The tickets are sold at the main casino cash cage. Player’s Club members can swipe their card at one of the designated kiosks located at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for a chance to win a Saturn Sky. The drawing will take place at 6 p.m.
In addition, the casino is offering $500 free slot play drawings from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
NICK SORTAL began playing 3-card "gut" and "Indian poker" on high school band trips, moved on to "night baseball" and "pass the trash" during a Dr. Pepper-infused midnight game in the 1980s at the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, and now play in a regular neighborhood Hold 'Em game in Plantation. I have been given the assignment of writing about the gambling life in South Florida casinos for the Sun-Sentinel...which means sitting around watching poker on TV now counts as research.
