Isle has free-roll -- for Twitter followers
The Isle Casino & Racing in Pompano Beach is trying to bump up its Twitter traffic -- and is offering entry into a free poker tournament to do so.
They're running weekly tournaments offering $500 in prize money, but you gotta register via Twitter in advance.
The tournaments began June 11 and will run at 9:30 a.m. each Saturday through July 2.
The first 30 people to sign up via @IsleCasinoPP get in.
More details: The tournament will have $20 re-buys. Players start with 2,000 in tournament chips with a $5 dealer add-on option for 1,000 tournament chips. Re-buys are available for the first hour anytime a player is below 1,000 in chips.
NICK SORTAL began playing 3-card "gut" and "Indian poker" on high school band trips, moved on to "night baseball" and "pass the trash" during a Dr. Pepper-infused midnight game in the 1980s at the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, and now play in a regular neighborhood Hold 'Em game in Plantation. I have been given the assignment of writing about the gambling life in South Florida casinos for the Sun-Sentinel...which means sitting around watching poker on TV now counts as research.
