The Wizard of Oz slot machine had Thais Vallejo clicking her heels at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino last week: That's because she won a $374,934.52 jackpot playing it.
Vallejo was playing what is known as a "wide-area progressive," meaning the machine is linked to Seminole casinos across the state. A portion of each slot pull goes into the big jackpot, which hits occasionally at one venue or another. This time, on June 22, it was Vallejo's turn.
In case you haven't been in a casino lately, slot machine makers are going with anything and everything for a machine theme. There's "John Wayne," "The Three Stooges" and "Sex and the City," as well as "American Idol." The all-time greatest machine success story is "Wheel of Fortune," which has raked in more loot than Pat Sajak and Vanna White could ever count.
There are several versions of "Wizard of Odds" slot machines out there. Vallejo hit on the "Ruby Slippers" version.
