Joe The Plumber and the Digital TV Transition

Yes, the election is over, but Joe the Plumber is still with us. He's got something important to say about the upcoming transition... to digital television.

I know this move from analog to digital is supposed to be a big deal, since I now hear about it as much as I heard about Joe the Plumber two months ago. (I continue to ignore these messages because I have cable, so I'm not affected.) But I think it's a bit of an exaggeration for Joe to say that the nation has never had a transition of this magnitude in the United States.

Just off the top of my head: The move from British rule to sovereign government. The abolition of slavery. Extending voting rights to all Americans. The end of the Cold War. Those are kinda significant, right?
