Hey Mr. Obama! Let Damon Weaver interview you!
You might remember Internet sensation/Palm Beach County fifth grader Damon Weaver from his excellent interview with now-Vice President Elect Joe Biden.
Now Damon wants to interview Barack Obama, and he's got some pretty big backers in his quest (though I won't spoil the surprise for you). He also has the endorsement of Watch This Now, especially if he sends us the raw footage to post on the blog.
We'll let Damon tell you about his mission to make Obama his homeboy, and after the clip, get more information about how to help Damon in his efforts.
Damon needs money to help pay for his trip to Washington, D.C., for the inauguration. If you're interested in helping, contact Brian Zimmerman at KEC/Canal Point Elementary. The number is 561-924-9800. Here's the school's web site.

Grant it Damon has great intentions but if Obama was really for helping the people he would not hold a huge inauguration and rather tell people to save the money or even give it to charity.
With the economic situation that we are currently in, wouldn't you think that makes more sense?

As much as it would warm my heart to see a fifth grader interview the president elect, there are just too many other issues that Mr. Obama should be giving his attention to right now. As for paying for the trip to DC, perhaps much like myself, Damon should watch the inauguration on television. In a time when people are going hungry and children won’t be getting Christmas gifts, it seems pretty greedy to make this effort to send someone to DC. Think of how many meals or toys for tots gifts could be purchased with that kind of money.

It is children like Damon Weaver who will be paying the taxes to support our government in our old age. The debt we are saddling them with is staggering. Considering where he lives and how hard it is to get out of a place like that, we as a nation should support his or any child's aspiring to big dreams. If all children in this country saw that kind of possibilty and believed they could accomplish big things, then we would again be the innovative economic engine we have been since the birth of our nation. I could rest assured that our country's future is in good hands. As it is most kids aspire to be bad ass professional sports stars or stupid celebrities. I support his cause and what it would mean to all the kids he represents. And I hope the president elect gives him the sit down.
GO DAMON WEAVER!!!
