Duck mothers must be the stupidest mothers in the animal kingdom. We rarely go a week without reports of ducks trapped in a storm drain here in South Florida (I can't resist shouting out "DUCKS IN A STORM DRAIN! DUCKS IN A STORM DRAIN!" in the newsroom every time we hear a report) and it seems that the ducks in Washington aren't much brighter.

Still, this is a pretty neat tale of how Spokane's people helped prevent the senseless deaths of some baby ducks by helping "Amelia Duckheart" out a bit.
