"Jericho:" No Nuts, Just Calls

jericho425.jpg
They're at it again, those never-say-die "J" fans - peppering the press with heartfelt pleas to save their show, and I've done everything in my power to ignore them. But uncle! You win, but here's a suggestion - try someone besides the press this time. I got this nice email from a lady in NJ who's doubtless sent it to a million other of her close "J" friends, but she's got some info in that may be helpful; plus, she's got a phone number. Give a call... Plus, as soon as Carol Barbee lands this show - which is possible, though expect a HUGE budget cut from the dough CBS was shelling out to her, and which could mean a substantial change in "J" (though probably worth living with) - then you'll be the first to hear. Here's Julie's email - calls, no nuts:

"My family and I are fans of "Jericho," and we're disappointed that CBS has opted not to continue the series. We were encouraged, however, to hear that Executive Producer Carol Barbee has been shopping the show to other networks, and at least two (Sci Fi and CW) have expressed interest. "Jericho" fans have come together, once again, to support Ms. Barbee's efforts through a letter-writing campaign.

If you find this worth a mention, you can find more information by contacting Julie Horton (864-313-8018 or press@jerichonet2.com ) or visiting http://www.jerichonet2.com "

Thanks for the coverage - this is the first real mention of the latest "save Jericho" activities that has shown up in a Daily News search (i.e. not just on one of the Jericho-specific boards).

I have been calling and e-mailing a few of the contacts that have been published - the production company (to encourage them to continue actively seeking a new home for Jericho) and other networks (to encourage them to consider giving Jericho a home).

My fingers are crossed!

HEY NIELSEN, COUNT THIS!

Uncounted Jericho fan

Thank you for saying "Uncle!" You're my hero.

Yes, we are calling, but I understand that Satudary 4/5 is the last day that calls will be logged, so you must make your call NOW.

The fans are also writing letters to CBS/Paramount encouraging them to keep shopping Jericho around as well as to SciFi to encourage them to give Jericho a new home!

Even if Jericho is not your favorite show, please help us so we can help you when your favorite show gets cancelled - it's happening all too often. We have folks from other fandoms helping because the networks have to hear us. VIewers Stand United.

Please help. You can find all the infor you need here: http://www.jerichonet2.com/board/forumdisplay.php?f=160

Thank you.

Thank you for getting the word out there for us! It is greatly appreciated!!

Not just calls, but hopefully, (per Carol Barbee's suggestion) thousands of letters and postcards to CBS Paramount, which owns Jericho, to encourage them to find Jericho another outlet. Tell Ms Tellem how you feel about Jericho and let her know you'll watch Jericho wherever it goes. Please write to:
Nancy Tellem

Thank you for that little phrase, "... which is possible ... "
While admitting budgets are important for TV shows, I think JERICHO's strength lies in the writing, acting and creativity of the production team, with or without big $$. Season 2's budget was tight, but the production team (my grand inclusive term for everybody involved) did a superb job continuing and maintaining the integrity of the show anyway.
Yep. I've made my call. Make make another one or two before the cutoff.

Thank you for writing about Jericho! Fans world wide are united to save this amazing show!

Thank you for saying "Uncle" on the Jericho issue. We are willing to do almost anything to save a show, that is different than other show out there right now. The rangers are a group of people, that feel there is more to television than reality and crime drama's. Our biggest assest, despite some articles I have read recently is that we are strong in numbers and have a common goal.............to get Jericho back on television where it belongs.
Keep making those calls to CBS Paramount tonight and writing those letters!!!

Jericho is a show that is worthy of this type of fan support.

Jericho is the island in the sea of "unreality" television and soap opera "who is sleeping with who" programming.

Jericho is the first program that I have ever felt passionate enough about to fight to see that quality programming does not get buried by inaccurate Nielsen data.

Typical viewing families are no longer strapped by the designated timeslot. We can't be...we are working nights and are no longer put out to pasture at age 49. We will no longer be denied intelligent programming...we will go to cable networks, download, online view, TiVo, DVR...we WILL have quality programming.

Thanks from this Nassau County Long Islander for this positive coverage on the efforts of Jericho Fans.

We are working hard to help find our show a new home and we will follow it wherever it lands.

Thanks for helping us spread the word! We appreciate the help and the hope you've given us!

This means so much to so many people. I can't tell you how much it is appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you from this Suffolk County family of 7 (all Jericho fans) for writing this!!

Jericho is, without question, the most riveting, thought-provoking, best written show my family and I have watched in years, and worth continuing, no matter what network it lands on. And wherever Jericho lands, like the rest of Jericho's vast fandom, we will land as well.

I have never been involved in fighting for a TV show's survival, but with Jericho, it's well worth the effort. It's so rare to see a show of this quality on television any more. It is a bright light in a sea of reality shows and other weak programming.

As Susan from Florida so eloquently stated:

"Typical viewing families are no longer strapped by the designated timeslot. We can't be...we are working nights and are no longer put out to pasture at age 49. We will no longer be denied intelligent programming...we will go to cable networks, download, online view, TiVo, DVR...we WILL have quality programming."

We live in a new age for television. One where the viewer will not accept the Neilsen ratings as the only way to judge the popularity of a show. Networks need to take note of this fact. Jericho's internet audience is vast. All viewers need to be counted, not just the Neilsen families.

As for concerns about budget cuts, I have faith in the talents of Carol Barbee and company that, should this be the case, they, and the actors and crew can continue to bring the Jericho story to life in as riveting and compelling a way as they have in Seasons 1 and 2.

Keep calling and writing Folks!!

Thanks for helping get the word out! Yes, the times age changing. The days of the networks telling the viewers what they will watch/like may be going away. We viewers know what we want to see, and are not shy about letting the system know! Log on to www.jerichonet2.com to find out how to help save this outstanding program.

Thank you for throwing in the towel and giving Jericho some coverage. We've been through this fight before and we're ready, willing and able to do it all over again. We need Jericho on a network who will give it a real chance to catch on. This show is just too good to get thrown aside. Let's make history again!

Thanks for the coverage for Jericho. We are all really hoping and praying that Jericho finds a new home. We really miss it. This show was the best on television in a really long time. When are the networks going to realize that not everyone out there likes their reality shows.

Thank you for writing about Jericho! It means a lot to all of us when our efforts are noticed and talked about. This fabulous show has lots of viewers that are not planning to give up.

Thanks so much for writing about Jericho. All of us fans have been working very hard in whatever ways we can to get our message out there and save the show. We appreciate your help in spreading that message!

Thanks so much for the article about our efforts to save Jericho again! The show is so much more interesting and entertaining than all the reality shows and crime dramas. My family and I hope one of the cable networks will pick it up.

Thank you from a very grateful fan. Jericho is a story that needs an opportunity to continue.

Even through cancellation, I hear of new viewers who watched online or picked up the DVDs. They talk of "being hooked" and want more.

I am hoping that the story will continue. Again, thank you for your mention of my favorite show.........Jericho!

Thank you for this great article. Jericho is a brilliant, amazing show, and well worth keeping on television. I know Jericho will be an asset to which ever cable channel picks it up and we will continue to fight to make that happen.

Thanks for writing about Jericho. I also never felt strongly enough about a TV series to fight for it, but this show is different. I also am tired of not being "counted" as far as viewership is concerned - Nielsen was never meant to be the "be all & end all" way of counting viewers-it was just meant to be a sampling (which is exactly what it is-and a small sampling at that).

A show like Jericho doesn't come along very often and it needs to be allowed to continue on for years to come. I will follow it wherever it ends up.

Thank you for saying uncle. Has anyone ever wondered why there are so many die hard fans of Jericho? If you look at the many TV show websites like BuddyTV, TV Tally, TV vote you will see that Jericho is on top of all of them. On Buddy TV we have the Jericho Cast in the top 7 spots for all time favorites. Our goal is to have the top 12 spots. The show is #1 with over a million votes. Three of the cast members, Skeet Ulrich, Sprague Grayden, and Ashley Scott all have over a million votes. No other show in history has had this many dedicated fans. We are making history!!!

Just saw this and wanted to say thanks for writing about our effort to save Jericho ... again! You cracked me up with the part about saying "uncle!"
