"24:" Jack May Get Lip Action with Renee

Nice chat with the producer of "24," Howard Gordon, just concluded, and a couple of worthwhile notes out of it...
HoGo's promoting the 2-hour special this Monday and - forgive me dear reader, but I still haven't put it in the DVD player yet. But the people on the call were extremely enthusiastic. So I'm sure it's good.
You know where we are in the season, right? 'Nother attack pending? Tony needs Jack's help? Debaku in the hospital? And...MAYHEM ON THE WAY!!!

Here's the news from HoGo:
- "Likelihood of an eighth season is extremely high..." No surprise there - numbers are good, and show is creatively doing well too.
- Jack and Renee Walker MAY have some sort of relationship next season, and per HoGo, "it's not a romance in the traditional sense of the word. [How could it be? We're talking about Bauer who is someone for the whom the sweet lure of true love must forever be sublimated by the fact that madmen are bent on destroying the world...but I digress].It's a lot more broken and jagged than what you might imagine [not me! I couldn't imagine it in any other way.]
Per HoGo, Annie Wershching "has done a spectacular job" this season. I agree one hundred percent.
- The Monday two-parter "really does transition from the first half of the season to the second half of the season. People can watch this not having seen too much of what came before, and participate in the latter half. It's a good place for people to jump in.'
Plus, Jon Voight's evil Jonas Hodges jumps in himself with both feet Monday.

Renee Walker is yet another failed 24 "tom-boy" character, desperate to show how tough she is but unable to cope emotionally with the rigors of the job. Jack's little sidekick, but this time it's a girl! Come on. I don't think at this point in 24 we need ANYBODY rehashing to Jack how seemingly stoic and careless he is, as much of a guilty pleasure as it is to watch supporting characters put foots in mouths when they question or criticize him. I would like her to pick a side, FBI and Larry Moss or CTU and Jack Bauer, and for that to have serious consequences. Have her be weak, and fade into the background, or die bravely, and soon. Because the actress just doesn't do it for anyone.
She's not as feisty as Nina Meyers, not as sweet as Audrey Raines, and I just don't buy her as tough in any way. It should be telling that she was never part of the original CTU crew, as her and the rest of the FBI group are clearly second-rate in every way: boring, unattractive, emotional, and inept. Get rid of it.

3-4-09 To 24 tv show: I think that 24 is the Best tv show to hit theair waves since "J AG" and Walker Texas Ranger . 24 has more intense suspense than the others. In that Kiefer Sutherland portrays Jack Bauer to the max of believablility! I Look forward to mon nights .. As far as drama It kicks out the others! I got turned on to "24" by my favorite talker, Rush Limbaugh, and then found out how many people really like the program. I have six seasons (in official boxes) and am recording Season 7 myself so I can rewatch an episode when I want. They move so fast and furiously, with so much happening, that they need to be watchd again. Keifer has had so many bad parts in movies, it's a pleasure to see him really "making it" in 24! His dad was a big success in MASH, but I think "Jack" is better! I just wish they'd have a LITTLE "romance" in it once in awhile; I like him mean and tough, but like to see the tender side too! But then I'm a woman; maybe men don't care. I like Agent Walker; she is fighting with herself and her training as FBI agent, and beginning to understand that Jack is NOT the bogeyman! Love the program; no one calls me on Monday nights!!!!! It's good escapism from the "real world" once in awhile!
As a longtime male fan of the series I'm glad the producers have come up with another strong female character in Renee Walker. I was beginning to think there'd never be another Nina or Mandy so I'm thrilled Walker and Annie's amazing portrayal. I also hope that she and Jack do eventually have a relationship and give him at least some hope of a future.

Jack and Renee locking lips?....sounds interesting. But wait..doesn't that Larry Moss guy have the hots for Renee also? The 2 hr episode sort of disappointed me. The star of that episode was not so much Jack Bauer; it was that bad guy and Renee. Now it will be interesting what Jack does with the bad guys or what the bad guys do with him. This is the best drama on tv even though the action has been tamed down a lot. I have to agree that the series needed a strong female character and Renee fills the bill perfectly. Jack Bauer has met his female match.
I love Renee! And the definition of "tough" doesn't have to mean becoming a man, you know. As far as I'm concerned, that girl has got guts and smarts! Granted I don't really have anyone else to compare her to; this is the first season of 24 I've watched. Anyway, I'm definitely hooked now and I can't wait to see how the rest of the season plays out!

I've watched since the begining. I've seen all the girls in JB's life and by far Renee is not the best of them. I'm with the others, lose her and fast. Whats with the creepy chick in the purple?? She is no match for Chloe. And Larry, paleeeze! I want CTU back!
As a 24 veteran, I've been watching tthe show and
I see a distinct similarity to how the govt acts in real
life. It's amazing the caution that the FBI shows while
we are in danger and I can only imagine that it was
this way when 9/11 took place.
Anyway I was recording the double feature on my
DVR and my wife got on the other TV and turned it
off while I was thinking I was safe and could just
watch it when I wanted. The next day I went to watch
and I only had 30 minutes. I was furious to say the
least. I had to wait until thursday to watch it at my
house. Good episode.
Well.... if they loose Renee off the show... I hope she shows up at my house.
I am with TPG..if she doesn't make next season, she can show up at my house anytime.
jack Bauer is the man! There is not another tv series airing today that keeps me glued to the screen like 24. We need 2 episodes each week because Mondays take too long to roll around. Keep us safe Jack.
I agree that 24 is one of the best shows to come around in a long time. At one point in time, I remember hearing rumors about Kiefer Sutherland being replaced; but he makes 24 the hit that it is. As far as the character Renee Walker, I like the fact that they wrote her character with a conscience and being conflicted with the "necessary evil" that JB is willing to do.
So far, great season!
I don't understand what the big deal is about Renee Walker. Imagine the show without her.... How would Agent Moss react to certain situations if not for his attraction to her?... Who would you want, another MAN from the FBI accompanying Jack everywhere and being the brave one getting buried alive and getting his arse kicked and jumping onto boats WITH THE TERRORISTS ON THEM!!! im sorry but as a male viewer i NEED to see a hot chick kick some butt along with the best (JB).... sorry guys, she may not be like the chicks in the past, but i do not want to see a bunch of guys. thats what we see when we sports and this clearly isn't a sport, so ill take renee and i hope shes back again next season and every season thereafter.
I still vote that Renee is on her knees for Jack by midnight.
I hope the relationship between Jack and Renee improves in the upcoming episodes this season and the next season. I love to see those two together, regradless of what some negative reviewers think. Also, I hope Jack and Renee have a family for next season. That would set some emotional and chaotic moments in the eighth season.

i dont really like the fact that audrey returns she is ugly and she is not the type off girl jack needs that type of girl is renne i like hervery much her character she is perfect for him they really should put her like the couple of bauer:D they make a lovely pair:D the episodes had show that the chemistry between this new character and jack is great!i think she is already falling for him;)

Renee is the best thing to happen to 24 since Jack and Chloe. Great part, great character tensions and chemistry - I'm super excited for season 8 in NYC!
There's two things I'd like to say. One: Jack Bauer is the man, thats a given. Two: Renee is the best thing that has ever happened to the show. She is an amazing agent and it's so cute that her and Jack have a thing for each other. They are made for each other. Audrey was too innocent for Jack and Nina was an obsessive mole! Renee is a kick ass agent who, thanks to Jack, isn't afraid to 'colour outside of the lines' a little. Thumbs up for Jack and Renee!! =]
Oh, and I can't wait for season 8...Jack deserves some happiness!!
And to anyone suggesting that Audrey comes back...gross!!! She's a bloody eggplant and she's nowhere near as awesome as Renee!

I love Renee! This is my first time to watch it properly. I use to
change the channel when it would come on. The second time i
watched a full episode was when Jack and Renee met.. and i was
like OMG i love this series...and then it ended too fast for me..and
the next thing was me goin on the internet finding out everything that
happened next..hehehe..thank God for the internet
Renee and Jack are sooo perfect for each other. Im so glad i
actually paused long enough to find out what the heck this series
was about. One of the best things i love about the series is the
character of the lead characters..mostly Renee, Jack and president
