"The Biggest Loser:" The Tara Costa Watch
Welcome, sports fans, to the Tara Costa watch.
What - inquiring sports fans want to know - is a "Tara Costa" watch? Only the best place on the planet to catch up with Tara Costa, who will be the third contestant from Long Island to Win it All: The grand prize on "TBL."
I say this without knowing, of course, that she'll win. Will she? Well, let's put it this way, noncommittally: We'll see, won't we? Tara, clearly, has few friends, and friends are good - if not essential here. She's also learned that she's got enemies. Enemies are bad - if not essential here. What matters most, I imagine, is her commitment to win. If she's committed, she will. If she wavers, balks, lets her emotions get away from, then she won't. It's pretty simple.
So, here's what the "Watch" will do: Every Wednesday around this time, I'll do a post-game catch-up with TC, who'll relay her thoughts, emotions, observations about the night before.
Let's get straight to it: Last night, everyone ganged up on her, and loaded 257 pounds on her car, because - duh - they WANT HER TO LOSE. But she didn't. She pulled the car like it was a Matchbox, got immunity (again) and lives to win another week. But from last night, there were lessons learned. And here's what she told me:
"I remember just feeling like wow this is absolutely insane. I didn't realize how much everyone saw me as a threat and I didn't realize what types of bonds certain people had in the house."
[Last night was taped, by the way, seven weeks ago.]
As she said on the show, that was a big blow, and "I don't want to be in a place where other people don't want me to be..." But a little reality check from pal Laura told her that was a pretty damned silly way to feel...,
"I like to please people but it's not about pleasing people in this game. It's about pleasing yourself , and I remembered why I came here. I let the game part get to me and I didn't see the bigger picture."
And she didn't lose that extra pound, either, to get to a 100 off - the first woman to do so (Kristin, instead, did.) Disappointed? Yeah, sure, of course, but she hasn't been at this weight since she was 13 or so...and there is more to come, one would reasonably assume.
The lesson from last night: "When...you don't have protection...you work harder, and if you work harder, you have better results. I have never relied on the alliances to save me. Just do the hard work and what you put into it you'll get out of it..."
The finale: May 12, and we'll see what Tara gets out of it by then.

She's a beast!
Go TARA!!!!!
I'd like her a lot more with a little less ICE. She seems very cold. But you know what? She deserved immunity last week. She's tough and determined.
Crazy, weird question -- Does anybody know if Tara was in Greenville, South Carolina this past weekend (4/4). A group of us were running and several of us thought we passed her on the route. Saw her later at Starbucks and was even more convinced it was her. Am I going crazy?
Hard worker? Check. Great competitor? Check. But I can't help it...the girl just isn't compelling to me. She leaves me cold, although I respect her determination. I am hoping Mike or Kristen wins it all.
Tara is fantastic - hope she wins this season
I saw Tara and her mother today in Greenville, SC at Jason's Deli. Heard she was from Duncan- is that true? she was having lunch with her mother.

I saw her Easter weekend in Clemson running the Easter Bunny Half marathon. Her coach confirmed it was her. Amy Parham from the previous season was there as well.
Got some pictures too.

I saw Tara at Cleveland Park today. Wasn't sure it was her, but later
saw her mother walking around with her. She was pretty well
disguised with a hat and sunglasses
I saw her and 2 other people mall walking at the Haywood mall in Greenville, SC. It was the a few days before Easter. My husband and sister did not believe me. This verifies! She looked great, hopes she wins.
All I want to say is Go Tara. I have followed the show since day one.
I myself being over weight and had no self worth has been so inspired
by your hard work. After seeing you come so far I took on the
challenge and have lost over 40 pounds. I am getting my life
back now one day at a time. I wish you the best of luck .
I talked to Tara in downtown Greenville a few weeks ago at Friday Night Jazz. She looks great. Hope she wins.
Yesterdays episode was so inspiring! I was totally behind Tara and they way she took everything and just came back to win things is amazing. Kudos, much respect!
There is only one thing worse than a sore loser, and that is an obnoxious winner. Tara is so concerned with winning challenges and weight-ins, then any chance she gets at the ranch, she binges and falls back into bad habits, it seems she is more concerned with winning the show than changing her life. I guarantee she will be one of the ones who dehydrates herself for the finale to win the money. Not healthy, not responsible, not the REAL reason the show exists.
The real biggest loser is the one who keeps the weight off for life, not the one with a little prize money.
Hi. You create your opportunities by asking for them. Help me! Could you help me find sites on the: Spyder sonix paintball gun. I found only this - quest Paintball gun. Save on gun safe and more at breadknifes. Responses to autonomous paintball sentry gun paul boughton says I wonder how hard it would be to take the paintball gun off and put a real gun on. With best wishes :-), Lamar from Islands.
