Couldn't take much more of Adam's screaming. If it were anyone else - we would have heard Simon tell him "it was screaming". None of the judges ever said that about Adam's singing. Kris has his own style. He's a simple, modest guy with a beautiful voice - I'm glad for him.

I've LOVED Adam all season. I'm not angry with Kris. He even admitted he didn't deserve to win at the end of the show because hes honest and humble. It's all good though. For those who are ticked by the result, don't be, Adam's going to do more than ok for himself. I will be buying his album for sure. Nothing against Kris, but I don't think id ever buy his. A recount and federal investigation is needed. Someone needs to be charged with a felony. Someone needs to be held accountable for the great catastrophe that just hit. He is by far the best champion of this show, he's got the whole package and has been consistently superstar quality the whole time. Adam's the real winner. Yea, I think it is curious how people find the need to rip at Adam with personal digs. I'm an Adam fan but im not personally going to attack Kris. Based on singing, Adam is the winner, based on popularity guess he loses, but whatever, it's a big upset but in another couple months it wont matter because Adam will be making hit records and ill be buying them. I am so glad that Kris won. I was always for Danny but when he left Kris was the only way to go. Adam is talented but he is to theatrical for my taste. And I have to say, everyone that I know that was voting for Danny moved their votes to Kris.

First off, Congratulations Kris. The fact is, this show is not simply a singing contest. It is made a popularity contest with the introduction to contestants family's and life stories'. Emotional ties are made to the contestants by the audience. This is simply the nature of the show. Sure, pure vocal talent would have had Adam winning the contest, but this is not the only thing taking into account as voters cast their votes. No matter how good either contestant performs on any given night will not dictate how many votes that contestant receives. The number will be based on preconceived notions about the overall personality, likability and physical attributes of the contestant. This is just how the show is. Its how they make money, like it or not.

Go stick twenty contestants behind a curtain, singing songs each night and have America vote solely on their voices to have your pure singing contest. But see how many people would actually watch the show.

Get real folks!!! Kris was GREAT! I loved Adam Lambert too, but I know many people who told me their interest in him peaked very early and waned towards the end. I don't think the Simon and Paula emphatic cheerleading for Adam's in-the-bag victory helped him either...

I used to like Adam. Since a few weeks before the finals, Kris really stepped up. Adam started to sound the same each week. When I listened to Kris and Adam's songs without the video, Kris sounded a lot better than Adam. There's a difference between hitting the notes and a good-sounding voice. And Kris' voice sounds really good.

First time I've watched AI since season 2 and I will never watch again. Adam was the true winner he's the only reason I watched Idol this season. I wish him the best in his career and I'm sure he'll go far.

I'm a 60-year old female and all I have to say is that Adam has more talent in his little finger than Kris has in his whole body. Yes, Kris is a decent singer - but he is pablum... all his songs sounded the same. This was the first year I ever got into American Idol - and I'm afraid it's my last...

Maybe AI should take two pages from DancingWithTheStars: let the judges have more input than just their comments and the one override they instituted this year - and second, only allow a certain number of votes per phone.

I found Chris's singing boring. He was often off-key (pitchy), and rarely sang any low notes. My husband described it as "yodeling." It is very weird that Chris was in the final.

Adam was exciting every week.

Why do people get so upset over this? Who cares who won? Adam Lambert's career does not hinge on whether or not he wins American Idol. If it does, then he probably wouldn't have a very bright future anyway.

Adam was the only reason my husband and I watched American Idol this season. I thought the other contestants (except Allison and maybe Danny) were pretty mediocre. Adam has a voice and a presence that I haven't heard or seen in a performer in a long time. He is like a cross between Elvis and Freddy Mercury. Amazing and brilliant. I wish we were in an era that actually celebrated creativity and vision.

Yes, you all do need to get over it! There are bigger things in the world to worry about then who won AI. You have the right to be annoyed or happy because in America we have the right to our opinions and open it up for disucssion. How often have we seen that runners up do better than the actual winners. Either way, stop bashing the contestants, they've been thru a grueling experience and need some time to recuperate. Support your singer by buying their music and move on with your life. Find something more important to focus on in the world-there's plenty that needs fixing out there.

As a pro prop 8 Mormon, (who wants 100% equal civil unions), I LOVED Adam Lambert. My husband and I thought he was awesome and were blown away by his vocals, looks and personality - what an incredible talent and a nice guy. Chris grew on us and I can't say it's a bad thing he won, but we were pulling for Adam! Christians don't hate gays - wish you guys could understand that...

First of all, I am glad Kris Allen won. I have been a long-time broadcaster who has downloaded 5 of Kris' studio versions. They could be on the radio right now.

You say this is about who has the best voice? Since when? Jennifer Hudson finished 7th. Melinda Doolittle finished 3rd. They were outsung? By who?

I will tell you why Kris won. And it has nothing to do with Adam's flamboyance or America being allegedly stupid and dull.

Kris won because this competition's heart-and-soul is about finding a diamond in the rough and making that unknown's dream come true.

From the beginning of this season, Adam appeared to already be a professional, but making things far, far worse, the judges were pronouncing him as the winner weeks before this was appropriate. And they did it week after week.

Praise his performance, but don't insult the voters by telling the press he has this won and pimping the heck out of him on the show.

The producers were even worse. Kris overcame no studio time and, even after a good performance, had to put up with Paula/Simon inanities, rather than the critiques he deserved.

Want more proof about how slanted this show was? The finale had Adam performing 3 songs with Queen. Kris gets a duet with Keith Urban (which he nailed). Backstory? Until the end you never saw Kris even touch his wife. Not even on the homecoming segment. You would never know he was a missionary in 6 countries, or played the viola and ukelele.

Adam has his career, bashing Kris won't change that. Kris embodied to voters what this show should be about. Discovering new talent, and in the process, recapturing some of the humanity this hit machine has been lacking.

Point 1 - Everybody thinks that they are the typical person in the US. Guess what? You're not. SO the argument of saying Adam should have won because I like him and all my friends like him doesn't hold water. Simple fact was that he was a bit more polarizing than Chris (that doesn't make him better or worse) It's a common misconception in marketing of any kind, to think that your preferences matter more or are more correct. Let's let America vote on their favorite restaurant. Guess who wins? McDonald's maybe? Anyone think they really make the best food?

Point 2 - Anybody who thinks the music biz is about singing ability is extremely ignorant. Just look at the folks who were guest performing last night! Think Rod Stewart has the purest voice in the biz? I love it but he can't compete with Pavoratti... Kiss, Cyndi Lauper, Queen Latifa, Black Eyed Peas, Keith Urban, Paula Abdul, Randy Travis, Carrie Underwood, the list goes on and on. None of them could hold a candle to any classically trained university level opera singer. But it's the whole package that we love - not just how "good and pure" the voice is.

I do think it was a bit of an upset on the surface. I would have been happy with either actually. Not surprisingly, Adam was billed as a big favorite, but everyone loves an underdog. Even Simon (who although everyone loves to hate, is right far more often than the others - because he's IN the business of talent discovery) warned about people assuming Adam was going to win. But there is a huge moderate fan base out there that like's things like country music, that are much more likely to buy a Kris album than Adam. Simple fact is Adam as talented as he was was more in his element with Kiss, and Kris was more with Keith Urban (that's why they paired them up). Guess who's selling more new albums these days? I love glam rock from the 80s, but it's not exactly the IN genre. Why do you think there's so many R&B or Country artists who do well on the show?

It's called art. You can't judge art. You can only state your opinion. If you like it and a lot of other people like it, it becomes popular. You can critique the components in a technical way, but in the end you can't change feelings.

Daivd Cook was right when he said American can't get it right. The show is called American Idol. Idols have never been defined by their talent, but by their popularity. And so this show must be search for the most popular, not the most talented. Even Kris admitted that he wasn't the best singer in the competition, but in the end that didn't matter because for whatever reason, America enjoyed watching Kris more than they enjoyed watching Adam.

The reason Kris won is because of the exact thing you quoted yourself! The goal of American idol is to find the best POP singer. Adam spent the entire season demonstrating that he is a DAMN good rock singer. I will give you that without a second thought. He's a rock LEGEND in waiting. But I wouldn't buy a POP album from Adam. His strength is in his high notes, not his chest voice. Kris has an excellent mainstream voice--soulful, pitch perfect, and strong in the range that most pop songs are written in. Also, though it often went unnoticed because of Adam's talent in the area, he did a LOT of arranging on those songs. He's a real artist--not some cookie cutter who shows up to sing the music someone else wrote for him. I think they're both amazing, but I do think America made the right choice--for both guys. Adam needed to be free of American Idol's contract to go pursue the right music for him. And Kris will do very well with the type of music that typically succeeds under the Fox Label. I think this was the best possible outcome all around. And I'm not homophobic. :-)

I am boycotting American Idol and all their sponsors. The majority of people here and around the world know Adam deserves the first prize. Adam will have more grammys than any other idol combined .

All you have to do is go listen to all of his studio version of Adam's songs such as Mad World and Feeling Good and all the others, then you will not be able to deny that Adam will be a super star. If you don't agree with me and millions of his fans all over the world then you can not be trusted to appreciate any good music.By the same token you may not think Elvis can sing either and of course you would have the right to your opinion and as we are have the right to think your a blithering idiot.

I was soo glad to see that Kris won. In all of the songs that Adam sung he screamed at some point. People were just getting bored of his same ole story.

I disagree with you also that it should strictly be based on singing. It is based on the full package. Looks, personality and singing ability. Both of them had a great package deal, but 2 very different ones. Adam had a "KISS" package and Kris had a "Jonas Brother's" package. What do most young kids, teenage youths and young adults listen too these days? Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus. Who mostly watches AND votes on American Idol? Young kids, teenage youths and young adults.

Also, since Danny was kicked off last week where do you think his votes were going to go? Adam? No I don't think so. So Kris was not only getting all of his votes he was also getting all of Danny votes too.

Don't get me wrong, I think Adam is a good singer but America made the right choice. Congrats Kris!

As ADAM's fan, there's no complaint from me for KRIS winning this. It could not have happened to a nicer humble guy. I'm happy for him. And I'm sure Adam truly doesn't mind Kris winning at all. I bless him and wish him all the success.
My point of contention is that Adam deserves to be the winner for all the right reasons but didn't for all the wrong reasons as the writer pointed out. And those were the votes cast against Adam winning, for whatever reasons. These votes of hate are overwhelming.
I don't mind the controversial 38M votes supposedly from Arkansas because they are votes from the heart. Adam's fans can overcome that with votes from our hearts.
Because I truly believe Adam has more fans as statistics show except for those hate votes, votes cast only to make sure he doesn't win as I've mentioned in my previous post.

Arkansas which has a population of only 2.8 million generated 38 million votes excluding votes placed through other time zones. Means, it could be more than 60 million votes cast by Arkansas alone???
AT&T supplied the facts which was announced by Fox TV station in Little Rock but they’re now retracting.
Now, it’s CLEAR how ADAM was robbed of winning.

First off there were hundreds of pre-paid AT&T cell phones given out by organized Kris Allen supporters with West Coast area codes to vote long after the lines were closed in their time zone. They also were able to text thousands of times in the same time it takes people to dial in and you can ONLY text if you have an AT&T cell phone. It's actually possible to text your vote approximately 40 times within one minute which equals about 2,400 votes within an hour. Multiply that by the extra 2 hours for the cheating phones and you get over 14,000 votes by one individual provided they keep at it non stop, and believe me there are plenty of tweenagers who can do this. Once the voting officially stopped in Arkansas they switched to the phones with the west coast area codes for the remaining 2 hours. AT&T is a sponsor of American Idol. Who do you think made money on all those pre paid phones? I have a AT&T land line and I was able to vote for Adam about 25 times within 4 hours because of constant busy signals. Meanwhile someone in Arkansas had voted over 500 times that amount using power texting. You only need about 1,500 people to accomplish the amount of votes Kris received in addition to those around the rest of the country who voted for him. If you remove the organizers from the equation and the number is the more realistic 45% - 55% margin that was originally predicted in Adam's favor. How do I know all this you ask? Some people were claiming on various Kris Allen blogs that they voted as many as 18,000 times within 7 hours using the power text and Gizmo method, and many people overseas are claiming they were able to vote using Gizmo as well.

This was a very organized group of people who clearly cheated in order for Kris to win, and I think it's a shame that the most talented performer in American Idol history came in 2nd place. Simon Cowell was right in not standing up when it was announced that Kris won. I wouldn't have stood up either.

I seriously doubt AI will ever be able to top this finale ever, KISS and QEEN! WOW! or have someone as talented as Adam grace their show. Its sad that this turned out to be more of a voting contest rather then a singing contest but in the end I think Adam turned out to be the real winner! Actually, if you look at the Dial Idol sample, the West Coast had the advantage of getting hardly any busy signals. If you look at the state-by-state tallines, the average is 1 out of 2 calls getting through. On finale night, based on the sample, only 3 out of 9 calls in Arkansas resulted in votes. Meanwhile, in California, the busy signal was a non-factr, 8 out of 9 calls resulted in votes. It is a significantly big enough sample to be more than valid.

Get over it. Adam lost fair and square.

They just seem to refuse to confront the issue of cheating. I wonder how much money the writer of this article lost from Kris' winning the AI? He seems on a real mission to discredit Kris. I must say that the only thing he is doing is enraging the fans of Kris who voted for him so much so that they will show Kris their support even more. I have family in Texas and friends in California who voted for Kris Allen. For me, I love how Kris interprets his songs. He sings them with heart and soul, and he is a very good musician as well. I like Adam too for his stage presence and drama, but I don't like his style of singing. It's as simple as that.
