She was not the best--she was just the latest Olympian/short
sporty chick paired with Mark Ballas.
Something bright and shiny is all you need to erase a
masterful season of routines from the best overall performer ever
to participate on this show--Gilles Marini.
Yes, the "Flashdance" homage was an odd choice
(shame on you, Cheryl, wasting Gilles' talent like that; you could
have at least conceived of a routine to that maniac song, instead),
but he made a mark that no one on this show has ever made and,
while Shawn certainly performed as you might expect a champion
athlete to do on DWTS, the voting audience once again proved how
easy/pliable it is. Yet again busy and chipper trumps sexy and
mature.
Freestyles determine the winner; on this show "winner" is not
synonymous with "best dancer."
I guess there's always next season--but if this is going to keep
occurring, why bother?
