My reaction to the TV memorial?
All in all - good.
Moving, often.
Deeply felt, often. (And jarring, on occasion. Should politicians ever speak at memorials? )
Best of the day: The music (Stevie, Usher, Jermaine, that cute kid from "Britain's Got Talent," even.)
And the moment of painful intimacy - the moment that will be the great and enduring takeaway image of this whole day? At the end of course: Marlon, and Paris, and the family, huddled in a protective cocoon.
Millions, no doubt, sobbed in unison.
Worst of the day: Some of the cable coverage. Just ghastly.

How'd the coverage of the 7 GI's killed in Afghanistan this week go?
About a year ago, the media was clamoring for access to Dover AFB so they could show America the returning caskets of fallen soldiers.
Now?
Not so much.
Why the sudden change?
Could it be because "their guy" is running the war now?
And while all kinds of "stuff" is occurring around the globe, "The One's" Dogwaggers are preoccupying America with all Michael Jackson, all the time.

Welcome to the realization that the (tv) media is corrupt; and that it didn't know - or fully report - that seven GI's were killed in Afghanistan last week; and that it's preoccupied with trivialities, and that it's in the bag for Obama; and that it's fearful and gaseous and sometimes silly and foolish and reprehensible and increasingly irrelevant, but...on the day that Michael Jackson is buried, what did you expect it to do? Ignore it all? And in case you didn't notice - and apparently you have- they're preoccupying America with a lot of other stuff too.
But today was MJ day. They were gonna cover it and they SHOULD have covered the memorial.
But you're still right - those seven GIs. What happened, and who were they and what were their names, and why...? questions you didn't get and answers you didn't get and probably won't.
The networks, sometimes, are still covering Afghanistan, by the way. Here's Mike Boettcher's piece today...
