THE BPL

Best Printable Line comes with the caveat of the quote being able to be reprinted for people of all ages. If not for this rule, Ari Gold would win every week. If not for this rule, I'd have been fired for dropping too many curses and lewd material in this blog.

The Big Knish

The Big Knish is awarded at the end of each season to the character the most BPLs. Here's the history so far:

Season 4: Ari Gold
Season 3.5: Drama, E
Season 3: Ari Gold, Turtle
Season 2: Johnny Drama
Season 1: Johnny Drama**

** Entourage the blog began midway through Season 2, but we went back and did the research from Season 1. Not surprisingly, Drama won that season's Big Knish, too.

Dum

By Mark La Monica

No, that's not a typo in the headline, but rather a succinct, metaphoric wrapup of the newest character to enter the mix on "Entourage."

I'm all for character development and enhanced plotlines and developing a show beyond its initial premise in order to keep things fresh, but this new guy Dom alters the show's dynamic in a negative way.

I don't see how Dom, played by Domenick Lombardozzi, fits into the show. Of course, I don't know what the remaining shows have in store, but my research indicates Dom will be around for at least a few more episodes. The guess here is that he'll do something dumb to tick off Vince and he'll get tossed from the crew.

The sooner the better, in my opinion. If I wanted to see boarish, over-the-top Italian characters wearing wife-beaters, I'd order up "The Sopranos" on Netflix. Instead, I found myself excited that this was one of those 22-minute episodes, rather than one of the longer episodes that leaves less downtime before Dane Cook's "Tourgasm" starts at 11 p.m.

(To clarify -- for my personal safety -- this is not a bashing of the rather large Lombardozzi, but rather the introduction of the character on the show. Besides, he played "Joey Chips" in the movie "Kiss me, Guido" which is beyond hilarious on many levels.)

We all have that one "friend" in life that we like to hang out but our other friends can't stand. We even have that peripheral friend that no one likes but everyone is afraid to say anything. Heck, some of us are those people in certain circles or certain occasions. And if we don't like them in real life, we shouldn't like them in TV life.

The character of Dom is the "Entourage" version of Farva from "Super Troopers." That obnoxious DB that people loathe at first sight. Even Turtle and Drama, so quick to be excited at Dom's arrival, turn against him in a matter of 12 hours.

After 24 brilliant episodes in a row, we can sit through one bad episode and not worry about the show's direction. But that doesn't mean we have like to new character.

Turtle said it best. "Five is too much. Four is perfect."

An edgy crime angled figure could have added some interest, if not tension to the mix on an otherwise tepid so far season. HBO has done this before, uh, the Sopranos. A character who was a little more likeable (a la Christopher - he even has the script to grind) or someone you loved to hate. Not a cookie cutter boring boor. Nuance maybe?

Dom has a negative effect on the dynamic.Thats the point !!!! And a very realistic point at that. We all have friends from our past that refused to grow up and move along with the times. Being loyal to your buds or cutting the string is a hard choice that eventually needs to be done. I think the writers captured this perfectly with the new character. My complaint is that this show should be more then the half hour time slot it's allotted.

I hate this guy already. But that's what I love. I grew up on Long Island (actually the same town as Doug Ellin) and I know guys like this. I can't stand being around him, but try and tolerate him because he's my friends buddy.
You just know this guy will end up back in jail or dead. Vince just feels guilty, that's why he made him head of his security. I see trouble ahead for these boys. Should be interesting.

Omg get over its only television......the fact that you acknowledged him in this light means the character is great bc you are supposed to hate him...........

I love the Dom character! I thought the actor was funny in an uncomfortable way on "The Wire". The show realistically needed a fun train wreck, cementhead to mix it up. The post by custom sums it up perfect -- Dom was intended be negative effect on the dynamic, and I love it!

i love entourage, but dislike this character so much i took it off after 10 min. i will not but season three(i have one and two)when it comes out on dvd.

Whatever, he sucks as character you love to hate. He's a one sided paper thin character. Frank Burns, a comic example; Richie Aprile, a sinister exmple. Those were good characters. C'm'on.

Why would anyone watch such a stupid show!?????

Anything is better than that fat waste, Turtle. I wish he would get killed off violently.

Screw you I am sweet.

Or maybe this Dom character will hopefully replace that fat pig, Turtle. Because really, what is so great about having a leech around that really contributes nothing? Drama is Vince's brother, E is his manager....what purpose does Turtle serve? Kill him off....violently.

Get over yourself, Turtle, you talentless waste.

Dom sucks. The reason I watch this show is the escapism -- the "I-wish-I was-those-guys-it'll-all-be-better-by-episode's-end" aspect.

Dom undid all that, and I think it's obvious he won't be around much longer.

I agree with my brother Alen Beljin :-)

I totally agree with everyone and am so glad he's gone. I'm just bummed I've missed the last episode because I was in Cabo and my hotel didn't have HBO.

I know I'll catch up, but just had to connect with fellow groupies.
