Ikea finally has an opening date

No more driving to Atlanta to get your Ikea fix. The new idea store in Sunrise -- our first in Florida -- is finally set to open at 9 a.m. Oct. 17. It's located at on 20 acres at the northwestern corner of I-595/SR-84 and N.W. 136th Avenue.
The 293,000-square-foot store will stock 10,000 exclusively-designed items, 50 room settings, three complete model homes, a supervised children’s play area and a 250-seat restaurant.
If you plan to go the first day, be prepared. Store officials expect 25,000 shoppers. So be prepared to stand in line and, God forbid, they may be out of their coveted Swedish meatballs with lingonberries, the treat which makes the trip worthwhile for reluctant spouses.
