Dorothy Draper style cabinet at Gump's
After I wrote a story on how to achieve the Dorothy Draper look, I found this cabinet in the Gump's catalog. Gump's calls it the "Pavilion Display Cabinet."
The pagoda-inspired design is almost an exact replica of the Dorothy Draper cabinet by Kindel. The big difference is the price. The Kindel piece is almost $12,000. The Gump's piece is $1,995 plus $200 shipping.
The imported cabinet is handcrafted exclusively for Gump's, according to the catalog. It comes in two pieces and assembly is required. See gumps.com.
One large caveat: If you don't like the piece or think the quality is substandard, you will be stuck paying shipping both ways. That's a hefty $400.
Your best bet is to check it out at the Gump's store if you are taking a trip to San Francisco.
