Gadget Gossip: The latest in MP3 players
You’re out for a run, and you’re doing a good pace because the iPod is jammin’ to some upbeat song. All of a sudden, a slower song comes on causing you, too, to slow down.
Hate it when that happens.
Enter, BODiBEAT, a new product from Yamaha that’s an MP3 player with a twist: it selects and plays songs to match the pace of the user’s work out. How does it work? The unit’s software categorizes each downloaded song by beats per minute (bpm), so that the tempo of the user controls what songs play.
That means if you go from jogging to walking, the song switches to a tune that goes better with the reduced pace.
Talk about literally moving to the beat.
Find it: The BODiBEAT, $299.99, will be available in May at www.bodibeat.com.
