Good deals on designer furniture

Your home doesn’t have to look shabby (without the chic) during these tough economic times.

Even if you can afford a splurge these days, it seems in bad taste to overspend.
So how can you keep your home decorated tastefully without overspending? Consignment and thrift shops are always a great source. Now there’s another option — Lauren David Home Design in Dania Beach.

The 7,000-square-foot showroom offers up to 60 percent discounts on contemporary, transitional and traditional floor samples from domestic and foreign manufacturers and showrooms at the Design Center of the Americas in Dania Beach and from High Point, N.C., where the fall and spring furniture markets take place.

Furnishings are shown in vignettes so you can imagine how the item will look in a room. Examples include the Zaria cherry arm chair with apricot-suede upholstery ($1,180 list price; $590 on sale), a country French commode/nightstand in cherry wood from Lexington Home Brands ($845 list price; $252.50 on sale), the Wassily chair with black leather straps with heavy chrome and stainless steel supports ($920 list; $460 on sale), and a French-style hall chest by Liz Claiborne for Lexington ($1,065 list price; $639 sale).

“You don’t have to spend a fortune on fine home furnishings, especially during this downturn,” said licensed interior designer Lynne Herman, who operates the showroom with investor and financier Joshua Schrager. “Even if the economy was healthy, many consumers would still enjoy hunting for a bargain. It’s very fashionable –— and smart –— to do so.”

Lauren David Home Design is at 1925 Tigertail Road in Dania Beach. Call 954-927-9998 or see laurendavidhome.com.
