The girl in the green scarf frenzy

Shopoholic.jpg

My sister bought me the Sophie Kinsella series that begins with Confessions of a Shopaholic and she knows me well. Need I say more?

I am a shopaholic. Like Rebecca (Isla Fisher) in the movie, I love the smell of Italian leather, the neat piles of new clothes in stores and the display windows of NYC. Unlike Rebecca, I get scared away by a price tag in triple digits.

The movie is hardly a personal finance lesson. In fact, it has set off a blog craze. Other shopaholics have got to have that green scarf!

(Rebecca must have a green scarf for a magazine job interview but her credit cards are nearly maxed out. She's saved by a man at a hot dog stand who hands her $20 to get rid of her so he can get his lunch. The man turns out to be the interviewing editor.)

Yahoo! Answers says Patricia Field used a sample scarf from Dolce and Gabbana for the movie. Patricia Field
announces hold on, the green scarf is in the making! Film critic Caryn James says the movie makes her want to buy a green scarf: Huffington Post
