Blue Bell Ice Cream on sale at Albertsons

bluebell1.jpgEver since we wrote about Blue Bell Ice Cream in the Sun Sentinel, I've been wanting to try it. Now that I'm couponing, it's hard to pay $5.98 for a half gallon of ice cream when I can get sales and BOGOs on other brands.

So I have avoided buying it, until tonight. I was getting other things in Albertsons, walked by the ice cream freezer, which of course they put right near the check-out line, and lo and behold, a Blue Bell sale! Sale lasts thru Tuesday, April 28th.

No coupons, but it was 2 half gallons for $7, enough savings to get me to cheat again on the old diet. Was it worth it? I have to say yes, the ice cream is very creamy and the Pralines were sooooo crunchy. Mmmmm...I might have to try the Cookies and Cream next. Super Saver Kathy

Publix had it on sale last week and I finally bought a half gallon to see what all the raving was about.

It was definitely rich and creamy, but honestly not enough to make me spend $6.00. I usually choose my desserts by what's on sale anyway.

When it's on sale again, I'll probably try another flavor. (There aren't any Albertsons by me.)

WOW thanks for the post! I've heard so much about Blue Bell, and been wanting to taste it!

Hi KCK. Albertsons has good sales, I'm dissappointed there aren't any near me either. I live downtown, so I only get CVS. Walgreens, Publix and Winn-Dixie. No Walmart, Kmart, Target, etc. I'd NEVER be home if I had all those stores in my backyard!!

I don't know what the big deal is with Blue Bell ice cream. I think Bryers is still the best. Of course, Bryers no longer sells half gallons.

Hi Animal Lover. I love all ice cream, really wanted to taste this 'new' brand. We did a taste test with chocolate ice cream in unmarked packaging for a story at the Sun-Sentinel, and the Publix brand won. I like the Blue Bell, but thought they were a little tight on the Oreos in the Cookie and Cream, and the pralines in the Pralines and Cream, but the ice cream was creamy and delicious. I will buy it again. I'm not brand loyal, just live for a good sale!

And Blue Bell is one of the last remaining TRUE 1/2 gallons.

I thought the ice cream was great, but I don't like the fact the the container isn't sealed with a plastic film of some sort.
