$50 off Spirit Airlines flights today!
If you want to get away and want to save $50, check out Spirit Airlines before midnight.
If you travel between Aug.11 and Nov. 17, plug in promotional code 50OFF (all caps, no spaces) before checking out, the airline will lop off $50 off your round trip fare. This offer expires today.
Spirit flies out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
I've been keeping an eye on flights to New York City and you really can't beat a fare of $149 (although last year I flew there for $118). Time for an annual escapade to the Big Apple!
If you spot better deals, do share with us on Shop-O-Matic! Happy flying...

Yeah right, anyone else try to get a flight from FLL to LAX during those dates using this promo code? Spirit's Flight Booking web page unyieldingly returns with "Sorry, no flights available. Please select another date or station...". Just a bunch of hogwash like the rest of their promos. I just wish Sun-Sentinel wouldn't boalster Spirit's claims by putting it into an article that is obviously an advertising lie. The Spirit Airlines web site DOES, however, retain where the prospective passenger WANTED to go. Guess what? Now the airline can fashion a travel-need roster for any given date-range that was requested - and bang up the fares during those dates. Very clever. Don't think that's not happening...

Yeah, I kinda agree. I tried a few times when they had the $29 and $39 air fares. You could always get one way of the trip, but the return trip was conveniently only ever available at full price.
I won't bother with any of their promos again.

Sorry you both have had those experiences with this airline. I have used Spirit's promotions that discount $25 or $50 off airfare and have had no problem. I have, however, found that in promotions with $29 and $39 flights, the prices go up dramatically with taxes, especially with international destinations. Still, I can't argue against a cheap $149 round trip fare to NYC. If I had more time, I would have booked it. Thanks for your feedback.

I've had good luck with SW - I use their Ding! program that you download to your desktop

didn't work for me either. I have already booked my airfare though Southwest but thought maybe I could find a better deal and cancel...

I use Spirit all the time. I love their discounted fares. They are real...I have used them MANY times. If you jump right on, the minute you get the promo email, and there are discounted seats still available, you'll get the good fares. I once got an R/T ticket to NYC for $25.
As long as you check in in plenty of time, they work like a charm. I just returned from a Spirit trip to NYC last night, had three seats to myself, no complaints. We even got in 50 minutes early!
One time I had a $68 Spirit R/T ticket to Atlanta, I wrote about this in the blog, you might remember. My cab was late picking me up, so I showed up at the airport 43 minutes before the flight. Spirit would NOT honor the ticket, said I had to be there 45 minutes before the flight. "Read the fine print" they said. They wanted $300 for a new last minute ticket. Needless to say, I didn't go to Atlanta that day.
There were college students in line in front of me, returning from a spring break in the islands, all suntanned and braided. Poor kids connection was late...Spirit ripped their parents for $300 each.
So you have to play by their rules, but if all works well, there are deals to be had.

Why do people complain . Spirit is a cheopo airline but if you want to save money, you must play by there rules. I have read most of the posts and hear the same complaint about being late by 1 minute.
Its simple , get ther early like I do and you will never have a problem and fly at the cheapo prices......
