Coupon Chaos: Enter to win free coupons from the shopping bloggers
Welcome to Coupon Chaos, where you can leave your best savings tips and be entered to win free coupons. It's been a slow week, I think it's the rain...my co-workers and I made jokes about getting caffeine intravenously, coffee wasn't doing it.
Thanks to our regular posters, you are leaving tips all over the blog, which is appreciated. With hurricane season upon us, be thinking of suggestions for the hurricane supply closet. (Thanks for the reminder, Jan.) Tell us what you do to prepare for hurricane season...or do you just wing it and hope for the best?
We're going to pick a newcomer to win the coupons this week. LB wrote in and asked for tips on getting coupons. How about we send you some? And readers, tell us about those odd coupons. Like the Publix $5 off $30. Where do they come from. What coupons do you get besides what is in the paper?
Leave your savings tips in the comments below and you too could win some coupons from Shop-O-Matic.

Other than the paper and the internet. I get coupons from magazines, such as family circle etc. I have also recently been mailed some really good coupons from Kraft...one was for a free bottle of Hunts Ketchup.

The $5 off $30 comes in the mail ... I don't know if it's because I get the Publix magazines mailed to the house or what ... BTW ... the magazines in the store do NOT have the coupons ... you need to be put on the mailing list (publix.com) to get the magazine with coupons ($1 off ice cream, etc.)

Oops, forgot to give my coupon tip of the week! Publix (where else?!) has the Pepperidge Farm oatmeal and sourdoughs b1g1f this week ($2.99). I've seen peelies on the loaves for $1.00 off ... get 2 loaves for 99 cents Woohoo!
Also, South Beach cereal bars are buy one get one free ($2.99) ... some of the stores still have the $1.00 off each coupons floating around, 99 cents for the two...again, can you hear me cheering? These bars go in my hurricane supplies ... high protein.

one thing me and my wife Debbie do now is look at the exp date's on coupon's they dont last as long as they use to. So insted of organizing them by type I now cut all the good one's we may think we are going to use and I put them by month insted 05 06 0r 07 that way when u look at your coupons you look at the oldest one's first you can throw the old one's out that way. I fined this make's it much faster when we shopp
Thanks

I agree Jeannette. You shouldn't buy two boxes at retail to save $0.50. But if you stockpile coupons and wait for a good sale, that's when you buy. I didn't start shopping with coupons until I discovered the websites that direct you to the best savings...the 'mommy' sites. It's too time consuming to do it yourself, at least for me, it is. When cereal is buy one get one free, that's a good time to use two coupons. (Your buy two will work on a BOGO deal, but of course 2 $1 coupons would be better.) I'll do a post tomorrow and tell you how to best use your coupons.

Debbie's a lucky girl, Bill. I love to hear about husbands who chip in. Thanks for joining us. I guess I shouldn't make comments about my (ex) husband who used to pretend he didn't know me if I had a coupon.

The publix coupon for $3 off of $30.00 are in your local city papers.
Posted by: Suzanne | June 9, 2009 4:09 PM
Thanks for that Suzanne. You must live in Boca Raton? We ran one $5 off $30 in the Boca Community News last week. I didn't mention it, because I haven't had a chance to check on why it only ran in one section and when it is running again.

$5 off $25 coupon again at Walgreens. I will be making up a scenario tonight for it to be worth your time.
Valid 6/10-6/11

That would be great Ashley, thanks! We're looking forward to it! I think we were posting at the same time, I just posted the coupon from Walgreens on our site.

It is also good to go directly to the websites of the products you are interested in. Frequently they will have coupons right on their site that you can print.

I was so excited about the $5/30 last week!! I went to my moms to take hers (she's in Delray) and lo & behold she didn't have one LOL
Oh - I have another tip regarding papers... The Dollar Tree sells the sunday paper for $1! (am I allowed to post that on the paper's web site? ;))

Kmart is doubling coupons this week up to $2, but a limit of 10 coupons. They have the Pert Plus for Men shampoo for $3.49, used $1.50 coupon/doubled, brought the price to 49 cents. On the bottle was an add for a full rebate on the product, which I printed out and will mail out tomorrow. A bottle of shampoo and $3, what a great deal!

I will be putting together a few Deal Scenario's tonight and tomorrow morning to show you how you can put your $5/$25 coupon to good use! I did this one 1st but understand this might not work for everyone as it does involve 8 of the same coupons but if you did buy 4 of the 5/17 & 6/7 you can combined them (like I did)
Deal Scenario #1
Purchase:
Buy 8 Dove Bar Soaps (2 pks) on sale for $2.24 each
Carmex lip balm $2.99
Kerasal One Step Exfoliating Moisturizer Therapy at $7.99
Kellogg's Cereal 3/$10
Total $38.90 + tax
Coupons:
*Use 8 $1 Dove Face Care coupons from the 5/17 or 6/7 RP
*Use the $2 coupon from the 5/17 SS
Or a $2 coupon from the July issue of Prevention Mag
Or the $1 coupon from here for Kerasal
*Use 3 $1 Kellogg's coupons from the 6/7RP
Total after coupons $25.90 + Tax
Use your $5/$25 coupon
Total $20.90 + Tax
Get back in RR:
$10 RR (Dove)
$5 RR (Kerasal)
$2 RR Carmex
$3 RR Kellogg's
Total RR=$20
Final cost .90 + tax for all of the above

Ashley, I like how you think. Thanks for working that out for us. That was a lot of work!!!

Walgreens deals this week are not all that great. Here is another deal Scenario:
Buy 1 black ink refill $10
buy 1 color ink refill $15
Total $25.00 + tax
use your $5/$25 plus you could use your RR to pay for it then so this might not be the best deal but good if you need ink now.
Final total $20 + Tax
(please note I have seen Walgreens run a BOGO on their refill inks which would make it $15 for 2)

I spent several hours yesterday pulling coupons and organizing to use a few $5 off $30 Publix coupons. I don't want to lose a few more hours organizing for Walgreens. I might just use the coupon to stock up on the kids sunscreen for the summer. Coppertone is buy one get one 50% off, with 2 $3 coupons, might be an okay deal. the Walgreens nearest me, Davie Blvd and Fed hwy won't take 2 of the same coupons in one transaction, so that's a real pain. I have to drive across town to find a store that will work with me. I wonder if I stack the Publix with the Coppertone, if that is about the same price? Do any of you wonder why we spend so much time worrying about this, instead of curling up at home with a good book?
Posted by: Super Saver Kathy | June 10, 2009 12:50 PM
Kathy ... I did the coppertone deal at Publix, $8.99 and then the 2 coupons and it came out to $4.99. Not sure if that was really a 'good' deal but heck, it's something we have to have.
Posted by: jan | June 10, 2009 1:52 PM
YAYYY! Jan! That's the interaction we'd like to see on this blog. Thanks for that. I was thinking of running by Publix to pick up a few more of the BOGO Whole Fruits sorbets before the sale is over tonight, (from $3 to $0.75 with coupons, nice deal) maybe I'll just get the Copperone while I'm there. Thanks for sharing.

when a store has a B1G1F sale and you have a coupon for the same product B1G1F you can get the 2 items free. I usually have enough items at the check out so they don't even notice, one time they refused to honor the coupon when I only had 3 items, although I don't see anything wrong with this.
