Coupon Chaos: Leave your savings tips and enter to win free coupons
Welcome to Coupon Chaos, where you can leave your best savings tips and be entered to win free coupons.
We've had a lot of activity all over the blog lately. I love how it's working, you all are answering each other's questions, and really sharing tips, making this blog work for you. I encourage you to communicate with each other, trade coupons, and share ideas.
We had a little excitement on Sunday, with a lively discussion about using 2 coupons with a BOGO. A few posters were adamantly against using 2 coupons, since the second item is free. I think we will just leave it at that. If you don't believe in it, then by all means, just use one coupon...
Check us out on Fridays for a list in advance of the coupons that will be in Sunday's paper. Next week, over $275. --Super Saver Kathy

I'm going to be out of town until Sunday, so it's up to you all this week to keep the savings tips coming.
I'm way behind in my prize mailings. Don't worry, you'll get them. All of my supplies are at my old desk in the Ft Lauderdale newsroom. I'll catch up next week.

LOL Bill!
s in answer to the question - what's the most you ever saved .... I broke my record today!! I saved $207 - that's $8 more than I have ever saved before... it would have been $5 more if greenwise hadn't suddenly stopped taking whole foods coupons as competitor coupons!! - I had 5x $1/2 ben and jerrys from greenwise.
but... I also spent more than I have in a long time - $103. I got a lot of fresh fruit, a birthday card that plays music for my son, a big bag of dog food - stuff like that put me over the top I guess... I usually spend about half that...
also some of the stuff I bought even on sale & with coupons still cost something... usually I try to concentrate on the free things.... for example I got 18 packs of hebrew national hot dogs & had 7x $1/1 & 11x $.75/1 - at $5.09/2 (BOGO) that's $45.81 - $15.25 = $30.56 out of pocket (OOP) - it's $1.70/pack which I know is great.... but it's almost 1/3 of what I spent today.

I mean "I had 5x $1/2 Ben & Jerrys from Whole Foods"
Posted by: Andrea | June 23, 2009 3:12 PM
I just have to ask, what are you going to do with 18 packs of hot dogs?
It's all well and good to save money, but if the food is wasted.... I mean it'd take me 2 years to go thru 18 packs of hot dogs.

Does anyone look at the restaurant.com discounts? Some of them are decent values, other you save but they still can be a little pricey.
Right now there is an 80% discount if you enter the promo code "dine" (without quotes). That makes a $25 certificate $2.00. So if you look for the restaurants that either have a 2 entree minimum or a food total of $35, you can eat out for about $19.
$2 for the coupon
$10 for the balance
$7 for the tip which they automatically tack on, so make sure not to tip twice.
If you like Quarterdeck and have a good size party, that would spend $100. The $50 gift certificate is $4. Pretty nice savings, if you can split the bill with the rest of the party.

When the price is right, you stockpile. You can freeze hot dogs, pizzas, etc. When you have kids, you go thru hot dogs, especially when they are out of school. Then there are birthday parties, friends over, etc. Probably my last post this week, unless I say hi from NYC. Keep up the good work.

yep - freeze them. with a family of 5 (and if we eat with my parents, 7) we'll defrost 2 packs at a time... so that's 9x of having hot dogs... if we have them 1x a month that's 9 dinners.
I have 1 package left from the last time they ran this deal which was january 21 (just checked my facebook pictures LOL) - looks like I bought 14 that time.

Hey all ... (and Kathy too, when you get back from you trip!)
My contribution: Publix (of course) has Kraft bbq b1g1f again so dig out the remaining $1 off each (use 2), hot dogs (again) b1g1 (OM) and again, dig out the $1 off coupons (use 2), seattle's best coffee is $5.49, dig out the $1.50 off (and whoa, that would be a decent price for some good coffee) ...
This is good timing for the 4th coming up in my opinion! Stock up on the dogs & toss in freezer (just don't let them get 'lost' like mine do sometimes) ... and remember to make piggies in a blanket (just had some a few weeks back, forgot how much I LOVE them!) ...
I've been away. Trying to avoid the stores. Have NOT bought the Sunday paper in 2 weeks (!!!) so I know that I've missed some good coupons. Maybe I'll win again this week!!??
Everyone take care & happy shopping!
