Super double coupon event at Kmart August 31st - September 5th

karen.jpgFrom what we are hearing, this week will be Kmart's last super double coupon event this year. I didn't make it to the last one, out-of-town friends and family visiting. Do you think I should have made them pull coupons and research Kmart sales? (They probably would have!)

There are some Kmart coupons here for free items with purchase. The picture on the left is from frequent poster KCK, who got $237 worth of product for $21 at the last Super doubles event. I know there are lots of restrictions, but the savings are still there!

Give dress shirts to rehabilitation center

Eddie Edwards, owner of SIR Men's Wear, a West Palm Beach store specializing in an exclusive line of distinguished, tailored French shirts, is literally giving the shirt off his back, and he's encouraging others to join him.

Edwards' " The Shirt off Your Back" campaign will take place during the month of September. Edwards is calling on men to donate the dress shirts they no longer wear.

For every two, gently-used shirts or more donated at the store, men will receive 30% off one regularly-priced shirt or item for themselves.

The shirts are being donated to New Beginnings, a rehabilitation center in Delray Beach that focuses on getting those wholve suffered from drug and alcohol abuse back on their feet and into the workforce.

Men entering the center's job placement support program will be outfitted with the donated shirts to help give them a professional look for their new start.

Take a gander at some new $1785 Christian Louboutin shoes

Every once in a while I have to take a break from bargain hunting and check out what's going on in that world I rarely visit, the world of retail fashion.

Don't get me wrong, I love clothes, but after a lifetime of budgeting, I'm not sure I could go on a retail spending spree, even if I won the big Powerball jackpot.

Here's some new Christian Louboutin 'Lace Booties' available at Bergdorf Goodman for a mere $1785. Now, we'd love to hear from you. What do you think? Could you EVER...?

Fall's sexy tights make the outfit

Just when Michelle Obama made if fashionable to go without hose, fall fashion is all about tights.

In South Florida, I would never don hose or tights unless it was for a special occasion. But these Wolford tights, around $58, at Bloomingdale's are tempting. And when you wear a black dress, dark hose are a must.

I just better not get a run in them at nearly $60 a pop! -- Marcia "Bargain Hunter" Pounds

Fall: All about plaid? Check out Loehmann's Thursday.

If you follow fashion even a little bit, you've heard that fall is all about plaid.

Plaid is not very South Florida, but Thursday, Aug. 20, is your chance to see the first of the fall fashions at Loehmann's stores. Loehmann's has several stores in South Florida including Palm Beach Gardens, Boca Raton, Pembroke Pines and Aventura.

Leggings are also are in for fall -- nice and toasty in 90-degree weather!

Ah well, while you peruse the fall fashions, you no doubt can pick up more Florida-esque clothing on clearance. It's that wonderful time of year when stores are trying to get rid of their summer inventory to make room for fall fashion.

Great site for Target coupons

apples.jpgTarget features new coupons every week on their website. If you missed printing last weeks, click here for a good site to print the older ones that are still current.

I love it that they have fresh fruit coupons. Today, at Super Target, I bought apples with the $1 off 1-lb apples coupon, and bananas with the .50 off 1-lb bananas coupon. Just put three apples in a bag, and it becomes bulk apples. The same with the bananas.

Cheaper Starbucks?

Starbucks, slowly getting in tune with the economy, is offering tips on how to trim costs of your caffeine habit.

I write this, of course, as I sip my afternoon iced latte.

1. Don't believe the $4 coffee myth: Approximately 50% of our beverages are priced under $3 and more than one third under $2.

2. Bring your own cup and get 10 cents off your beverage.

3. Order a brewed coffee with steamed milk known as a Caffe Misto, instead of a Caffe Latte. That provides an average savings of 85 cents.

4. Get refills on brewed coffee for just 50 cents. Registered Starbuck card holders get refills on the house.

5. Brew yourself. Pick up a back of Starbucks whole bean coffee to brew at home for about 30 cents a cup.

6. Enjoy a coffee press for two. For about $3, any coffee we sell can be brewed through a coffee press, which yields four 8-oz cups and costs less than a grande.

7. Order pairings. For $3.95, order breakfast or a snack with coffee, a savings of about 90 cents.

8. Use your treat receipt, available through Sept. 30. Bring in your receipt from your morning purchase and in the afternoon after 2 p.m., get any grande cold beverage for $2.

Do you have your own methods to save on Starbucks? I know what you're going to say: Go to Dunkin Donuts or McDonald's. Just doesn't cut it for Starbucks addicts like me. -- Marcia "Bargain Hunter" Pounds

FG Lifestyles Salon / Spa / Fitness Grand Opening

One of the great Sun-Sentinel photographers, Robert Duyos, made an insightful observation one day. I was surprised to hear this out of him...and if you know him, you'll understand. He said, "Women should never skimp on their haircut, because they wear it everyday."

That said, Francesca Guerrera, one of the most talented and stylish stylists I know, has just opened a beautiful new salon/spa/fitness center at 2424 E Las Olas Blvd. It's near Chima Restaurant.

She's just opened her doors, but when the salon is in full swing, there will be a schedule of exercise classes, i.e yoga, Latin dancing, etc. It's not just a hair salon but a Lifestyle Center.

Francesca was at Echo Salon behind the Riverside Hotel until recently, and has been doing my hair for some time now. I highly recommend her. She does a great job with make up too, she's always trying to make me try a little harder. There's no hope Francesca.

Do you haggle?

More Americans are haggling with their favorite retailers to save money in the recession, according to a new article in Time magazine.

Recession Haggling

One master haggler noticed an expired date on bacon and ended up getting it for free, the magazine reports. When you see such opportunities to lower a price, ask for the manager in a nice way, said Time reporter Sean Gregory on NBC's Today show.

Sometimes, all you have to do is ask because stores are trying to get rid of inventory right now, he said.

What do you do to haggle? I know Super Saver Kathy is good at this. Tell us how you haggle by posting here.

CVS coupon for Baked Lays and more

Click here for a bunch of CVS coupons. The ones that are specifically CVS should stack with manufacturers coupons, but we all know that some store clerks are more cooperative than others. Give it a try!

Save $5 at Walgreens with this coupon

Okay, dear readers, here it is again. One of our favorite coupons! Save $5 off a $25 purchase at Walgreens with this printable coupon. It's only good today and tomorrow, so hop right to it. (August 5th and 6th.)

I like to print a few, just in case I find some great stuff in the clearance area. You can use one $5 off coupon, put the stuff in the car, and go right back in the store with another...unlike CVS, where the computer keeps track. So, which of this week's deals will you use it on?

Did you know each Walgreens has an area for clearance items? A few weeks ago I found some battery operated candles on clearance, I stocked up for my backyard boat parade party. The same ambience, without the worry (the toddlers love to play with candles.)

Watch your purses!

Tonight I'm not in the mood to surf around for good deals. I've written lots here about my youngest daughter who has been struggling her way through Medical Assistant school with three babies at home. She's the reason I've learned to coupon shop, buying food for seven people.

Her purse was stolen at the beach tonight. She was dragging toddlers, baby seats and all the gear necessary for a family picnic....left her purse in the car with a towel over it. I don't need to tell you the rest. Poor kid! I remember when my wallet was stolen out of my purse last violated I felt.

She's so organized, everything was categorized in there. Her drivers license, the kids' social security cards, camera with irreplaceable baby pictures, not to mention her pride-and-joy Coach purse that was a special gift. I know this little report has nothing to do with shopping, but it has a lot to to do with saving. Just a warning, its easy to be careless with our busy schedules.

Coupon Chaos: Share your best savings tips to win free coupons

coupons1.JPGWelcome to Coupon Chaos, where you can leave your best savings tips and be entered to win free coupons.

KCK has taken on a new hobby, finding deals and posting for us.Thanks KCK, you are the winner this week, hands down. Email your address. I was behind in my prize mailings. Trish, I sent yours yesterday.

Lots of great school supply deals going on. Last week the Walgreens Sharpie deal was too good to pass up, buy one get two free. I bought some for my co-workers, we were all sharing one black marker. Now I'm looking for a steal on highlighters.

It's hard to keep up, with all the ad brochures chock full of deals: Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, Target, Kmart...the list goes on. We need your help to sort this out. Where are you finding deals this week?

P.S. The 30% off Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic coupon was one of's most popular items last week...we love to see Shop-O-Matic's name on the 'hit' list. Sorry some of you had trouble opening it, I emailed it to the folks who reported in. And...the most important thing, did anyone buy something good enough to report to us?

Good ECB deals on Electrasol and Pampers at CVS

Don't say we didn't warn you....if you saved a few Electrasol $2.50 coupons from the Smart Source on 7/12, there's a good deal at CVS this week. If you buy $20 worth then you get $10 'extra bucks' back.

So the scenario 5 Electrasols, they are 2/$9, five will be $22.50. Use 5 $2.50 coupons, so that subracts $12.50, making your total $10, then get the $10 Extra Care Bucks back, making the Electrasols free. (Well, you put out the $10, but you get $10 Extra Bucks to spend at CVS.)

There's also an extra bucks reward on Pampers or Easy Ups. Buy 2 on sale 2/$20, get $5 ECB back. Use the coupons in the 8/2 P&G Saver...the Pampers are $6.50, the Easy Ups $6.

If you are registered online in the Extra Care Program then you may have gotten a $4 off $20 coupon. That made this deal even sweeter for me.

Free Sample of Honey Nut Cheerios and $1 coupon

cheerios.jpgClick here to sign up to get a free sample of Honey Nut Cheerios and a $1 coupon by mail. This will take 6-8 weeks to arrive.

As long as we are discussing Cheerios, I'll remind you that they are BOGO (buy-one-get-one-free) this week at Publix, until 8/5/09. You can print these coupons, one for .55 off one, and $1 off 2 boxes, use the back button to print two.

My little ones like Cheerios so much, they carry Ziploc baggies full...for snacking. Anyone else have Cheerios behind your couch cushions?
