Coupons in Advance: Over $750 in coupon savings in Sunday's Sun Sentinel 11/01/09

Sunday's going to be a big day for 'couponers.' There are three inserts: Smart Source, Red Plum and the P&GbrandSAVER. There's also a Publix Fall Savings insert...good coupons inside but they expire soon, 11/6. We've got to find those stackable scenarios now!! (Stacking coupons means using a Publix AND a manufacturer's coupon on the same item for added savings.)

For our regular visitors, you know to label your inserts with the date, and file them away to wait for a good sale. New coupon shoppers will be anxious to use them, but then you will be sorry next week when the item is BOGO (buy-one-get-one-free) and you can use two coupons.

For instance, lets say your favorite cereal is $4 a box. If you use a $1 off coupon now, you get the cereal for $3. But if you wait until the cereal is BOGO, and use two $1 coupons, then you get two boxes for $1 each. This is why we recommend getting at least two papers, well, two sets of coupons.

Click here to see the coupons that will be in Sunday's paper, November 1st. And send your savings scenarios! --Super Saver Kathy

Coupons can be of great help on bill cutting for your shopping online, Smart Source, Red Plum are great resources for grocery coupons. I also prefer to searching the online coupons before shopping at online retailer stores

That $8 Prilosec is a nice coupon, can toss the $3.00 ones now! The Prilosec is coming up for sale at Walgreens either this week or the following.

Had no problem with the $4.00/4 General Mills at Publix. I even used 5 in one order with 20 products. One of the only times I went ahead and matched the coupons to the product ahead of ringing, just so the cashier could see I had 20 products.

If you buy any of the Cascadian Farm cereal or granola bars for the GM deal, there is a $1.00 Whole Foods coupon in their Oct/Nov. circular.

If your Publix takes Target you can getting Jimmy Dean's almost free. Target has a $1/1 Jimmy Dean and there are $1.00 MQ for the D-Lights and $1.50/2 MQ for the regular Jimmy Dean. Two D-Lights will end up costing 50 cents. The DH ate one this morning and said they weren't bad.

Also finally found the 44oz Wonka at Publix. $6.99 BOGO, so 2-$2.00 coupons makes it $2.99 for 2 bags.

which publix do you go to? I had no problem yesterday at Hagan Ranch & Atlantic in Delray but the one on Clint Moore & 441 in Boca, which is my regular publix, would not take them this morning for anything but cereal....

(and yes, I am willing to drive to broward hahaha)

Andrea:

Publix should accept your coupons as long as they fall within the following guidelines, per Publix Corporate:

Thank you for your email. We appreciate our customers taking the time to
contact us. Below you will find our coupon guidelines:

We will always comply with all rules and regulations that are printed on a
coupon.

If a product is on a Buy One and Get One Free promotion you can use one
manufacturer's coupon on each item.

If a product is purchased with a Buy One and Get One Free manufacturer
coupon no other manufacturer's coupon can be used on the same item.

There is a limit of one Manufacturer's coupon and one Publix coupon per itemif no limit is mentioned.

Publix will accept "cents off" Internet Coupons. We will not accept "free
product" Internet coupons. We also reserve the right to reject any Internetcoupon that does not appear to be legitimate or does not scan properly. Internet coupons valued over $5.00 should be approved by a Manager or Customer Service Team Leader.

We accept traditional supermarket competitor coupons. Please see your store manager for more details, as there is no written policy on this.

In the Atlanta division, we will double manufacturer coupons up to .50
cents.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact us. If we can be of any
further assistance regarding this matter, please either call our Consumer
Relations toll-free number at 1-800-242-1227, write us at the Publix Super Markets Corporate Office, PO Box 407, Lakeland, FL 33802, ATTN: Consumer Relations, or contact us at our website, publix.com

I think Andrea was specifically talking about the $4 General Mills coupon, DP.

Andrea, I would point out that the coupon says "General Mills PRODUCTS" not "cereal." Kinda silly, since Nature Valley is there, too! If the cashier still says no, get a manager to come over to approve it.

If they still don't accept it, call Publix (800 # in DP's post) and report it. If you're at the checkout and this happens, do NOT buy your products, perhaps abandon your entire order, and tell them you'll go to a store that wants your business.

Corporate may have the store manager call you back and apologize. Publix in general has fantastic customer service, and they want to know when someone is CLEARLY not following the coupon.

General Mills' brands are listed here (scroll down to "United States brands"): http://www.generalmills.com/corporate/our_websites/index.aspx

One more tip on the GM deal: If you are using manufacturer's coupons with the Publix coupon (of COURSE you are!), it probably has "General Mills" in the fine print of where to send the coupon to for reimbursement. Might be handy for that occasional coupon-uneducated cashier. :-)

Broward Mom- Were you bluffing a few months ago when you said you were new at this! Wow, you've jumped in with both feet.

eh, my publix said cereal only, pointing to the pic. I had heard that it may have possibly been a misprint. Also, the wonka candy $2 coupons, had to get a manager as the cashier & cs guy was saying nothing over a $1 IP allowed. Ugg. This is the same store I go to weekly, called the manager over, took one look at me (knows me from previous issues) and corrected the cashier & cs to the rules.

I did leave my whole order there and I told the manager, who came over, that I was going back to the hagan ranch store. I'd call corporate but I also heard it was probably a misprint and I feel bad (sort of...)

my dad's in the hospital (pneumonia but he has cancer so his immune system is for crap) so I was a little out of sorts.

I don't know if I should try again or not....

I'm so sorry Andrea, about your father. You are allowed to be out of sorts. That's tough.

My usual Publix is in Plantation on Broward Blvd.

I read this on Red Plum if anyone is interested.

Free Mattel Toy at Sears on Halloween

Your kidlet can take more than candy home on October 31. Swing by your local Sears toy shop with your child in costume and you'll leave with a free Mattel toy. That's a pretty stupendous deal, as is the coupon Sears is promoting with the deal: $5 off a $20 toy purchase. The toy giveaway ends when supplies run out, so we suggest going early in the day; and as always, call first to be sure your location is participating in the giveaway. The only thing worse than a disappointed six year old is a six year old throwing a tantrum while dressed like Sponge Bob...

I should add that if the $5/$20 coupon is for any toys, there are a bunch of Hasbro coupons on coupons.com. Assuming you could use a Sears coupon and a MQ, but I don't know as I don't think I've ever tried coupons at Sears.

Sorry to hear about your dad , Andrea.

thanks all - I just got back from the hospital... he looks like crap :( He has cancer so he's on the oncology floor - it's good because it's quieter but it's bad because now the pulmonologist needs to talk to the oncologist before they do anything....

If anyone is doing any Walgreens deal and needs filler items, the Hunt's tomato sauce is 3 for $1.00.

There is a coupon at http://www.recessionpayback.com for $1.00 off 3. You have to play the game and then picked the Hunt's tomato sauce, seems to be unlimited prints if you hit the back button, on the finished game.

End result is 3 cans of tomato sauce for free and 2 additional items for Register Rewards to attach to.

I went to Publix to purchase my Sunday paper with the "$750 in Savings", got home, read the paper, and then went on to look through my coupons....NO P&G Saver to be found along with NO Kmart ad, Sears ad or Toys R Us....I couldn't believe it! I went back to Publix and had to buy a second paper because mine was missing those!!!
Has anyone else had this happen?

I told the Customer Service person who was apologetic, but did nothing. I told her I needed to check through the insert to make sure it had what it was supposed to since I had just purchased a paper from them that was missing those inserts. She was fine with that.

I just couldn't believe that those inserts were missing! I'm going to check my paper before buying from now on!

Winn Dixie today:

Laura,

I worked in management for Publix for many years-If that happens again ask for a manager and they will give you the inserts. You should not have had to pay for a second paper.
