Printable coupon: Free small Quiznos sub

5013_LeftSide.jpgThe downtown Sun Sentinel employees are going to like this coupon, since there is a Quiznos on the next block! Hi, newsroom friends, greetings from Deerfield, this one's for you! And for you, dear readers.

Join the Quiznos Club and get a free small sub, with the purchase of a regular drink and regular price chips. Click here to join. Don't tell anybody, but it let me print a few coupons, not just one.

I thought there might be a catch, so I tested it tonight, in a Plantation store. Got a tasty toasted Mesquite Chicken sub, chips and a drink for $2.43. Being on the world's tightest budget, this was a real treat, since the first thing I let go in this economy were fountain drinks, or any 'restaurant-bought' drinks, for that matter.

How about you, how many of you still pay $2 for a soft drink with a sandwich? Am I the only one who suffers through iced tap water with lunches? Do tell.....

Holiday gifts from Macy's celebrity designers

macy%27s%20xmas%20tie.jpgMacy has announced its "gifts from its stars," meaning Martha Stewart, Donald Trump, Betsey Johnson, Calvin Klein and others you see in their TV commercials.

What I like about this is that many of these gifts are under $50. Even Trump's ties are $49.50.

I especially like Betsey Johnson's snowflake bracelet, only $35. macy%27s%20snowflake.jpg

A nice holiday gift when visiting friends and family would be Martha Stewart Collection Mitt Christmas Stocking Set, $14.99. macy%27s%20martha.jpg

If you collect Christmas tree ornaments, you might want to buy Tommy Hilfiger's set of four boxed glass ornaments, $29.95. macy%27s%20tommy%20ornaments.jpg

Affordable gifts for the holidays -- now that's a magical holiday strategy. Let's hope other retailers follow suit!

Day-to-night dresses at Bloomie's

wrap%20dress.jpgBloomingdale's is pitching a dress line as those that can go from "day to night." I don't quite see sequins, poofy short skirts, and such for the workplace, but those are the pricey dresses, anyway.

Here's an Aqua Faux Wrap dress for only $88 that could be used for daywear and dressed up with a long chain of pearls or beads for nighttime. There are other Bloomingdale's selections as well that work well with fall's tights or high boots (even in South Florida -- maybe next week.)

See Bloomingdale's Day-to-Night dresses.

How about these diamond and sterling silver hoops (that's not what I got you, sis) for $89?

Match your coupons to sales at SavingsAngel

We just got a press release from with some interesting statistics. SavingsAngel is a West Michigan based company that uses technology to match store sales to coupons. I was surprised by some of the statistics, so I thought I'd share them with you.

The gist of the information is that couponers tend to be more wealthy than non-couponers. "According to Neilsen, 38 percent of the "super heavy" couponers and 41 percent of coupon "enthusiasts" come from households with incomes greater than $70,000. Usage among those earning $100,000 and up were the primary drivers of coupon growth in 2009.

According to Neilsen, 83 percent of products purchased with manufacturers' coupons in 2009 were done by just 22 percent of households.

Sun Sentinel's Biggest Saver Contest update

Many of you have asked us about the 'biggest saver' contest....which had nothing to do with the shopping blog, but I did encourage our readers to enter. I'm sure you are the best savers out there!

J.C. Penney offers lowest prices of fall

pea%20coat.jpgI was in New York City last weekend and the weather was in that in-between stage: My leather jacket wasn't quite warm enough some days while a sweater was plenty on a sunny day.

What I needed was a wool-cashmere blend pea coat like this one on sale for $79.99 at J.C. Penney's. It may be too late for me, but if you're planning a trip north for Thanksgiving, such a coat could come in handy. It comes in a variety of colors: blue, red, boysenberry, green and black.

It is among J.C. Penney's "lowest prices of the fall" sale. Many items are in the stores -- even this coat in South Florida -- but there's free shipping online of $49 or more. Go to to check out the deals.

50% off at trendy Bella Boutique in Boca Raton

You can always find something cutting-edge and different at Bella Boutique, at Shops at Boca Center, off Military Trail near Town Center Circle.

Everything in the store is currently 50 percent off. Bella has club and other dresses for the younger set, sexy tops, skinny and other jeans, and accessories.

I found one element of my Halloween costume on the $20 rack (not saying what it was, but it is not something I would wear other than Halloween.) There were also sleek outfits for the well-toned and long summer dresses that would make good cruise wear.

Drop in on Bella. You never know what you'll find.

Kids' Halloween costumes under $30 at TJ Maxx

TJ%20Maxx%20costumes.jpgA red-and-black-winged ladybug. A green fairy princess outfit. A fireman uniform with hat.

Cute costumes for kids can be found at TJ Maxx this weekend (Oct. 16-17) for $19.99 to $29.99. The costumes are for little kids, perhaps toddlers to 5 year olds.

I don't get many children saying "Trick or Treat" at my door anymore, but I do like to see the parade of young costumed children at the mall.

"Spiderman" was a favorite costume when my son was that age. Good memories.

This morning the cashier gave me a coupon to use. I tore it up right in front of her, what does she think, that I can't afford to pay for my coffee?"

I really needed to get my Internet connection fixed, so I tried hard to keep my mouth shut. Anyway, what could I say? What would you have said? --Super Saver Kathy;;;;;;; WildForWags
