Bloomingdale's is pitching a dress line as those that can go from "day to night." I don't quite see sequins, poofy short skirts, and such for the workplace, but those are the pricey dresses, anyway.

UPDATE: More than 200 people lined up Wednesday morning in Davie hoping to get one of 100 spots to win free meals for a year on Thursday for Chick-fil-A's grand opening. A lottery was held to determine the who got to camp and win 52 meal tickets. Five extra spots also were reserved in case someone chickened out. The prizes were to be awarded around 6:10 a.m. Thursday.

The hours are 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.; breakfast is served until 10:30 a.m. Restaurants are closed on Sundays.

Don't be chicken! Break out the lawn chairs, tents and coolers and camp out in the parking lot of the new Chick-fil-A in Davie to win free food for a year when the store opens at 6 a.m. on Thursday.

The first 100 people in line today at 1900 S. University Drive in Davie will "Eat Mor Chikin" for a year when the company awards 52 certificates each for free meals. If there are more than 100 people waiting this morning, spots will be determined by raffle.

When the Chick-fil-A in Pompano Beach opened in December 2009, nearly 150 people were waiting to collect the free meals.

The new nearly 4,300-square-foot location will seat 100 and also will have a play area for kids. Hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday with breakfast served until 10:30 a.m. The restaurants are closed on Sundays.

We just got a press release from SavingsAngel.com with some interesting statistics. SavingsAngel is a West Michigan based company that uses technology to match store sales to coupons. I was surprised by some of the statistics, so I thought I'd share them with you.

The gist of the information is that couponers tend to be more wealthy than non-couponers. "According to Neilsen, 38 percent of the "super heavy" couponers and 41 percent of coupon "enthusiasts" come from households with incomes greater than $70,000. Usage among those earning $100,000 and up were the primary drivers of coupon growth in 2009.

According to Neilsen, 83 percent of products purchased with manufacturers' coupons in 2009 were done by just 22 percent of households.

I was in New York City last weekend and the weather was in that in-between stage: My leather jacket wasn't quite warm enough some days while a sweater was plenty on a sunny day.

Macy's is having its "Shop for a Cause" annual charity event in stores and online today.

The chain has raised $34 million for local charitable causes since it stared the event in 2006. This is a great way to support worthy causes in your community (you get to pick which one) and get some great bargains for yourself at the same time.

Here's how it works: Buy a $5 Shop for a Cause ticket and get a 20-percent savings pass good all day on clothes, accessories, jewelry and home items, valid on all regular, sale and clearance items. (I saw plenty of "additional-50-percent off" signs in the store this week.) In addition, the pass gets you 10 percent off all furniture, mattresses, rugs, electrics and electronics.

In stores, $5 goes to a South Florida non-profit of your choice. Online, the $5 goes to the Family Violence Prevention Fund, Wounded Warrior Project and Feeding America.

Walmart is now selling Apple iPads and is testing a new "Pick Up Today" service in South Florida stores.

The mega-retailer is carrying all six models on its website and in stores, offering 16- and 32-gigabyte models with Wi-Fi for $499 and $599 and 3G models starting at $629. They will be available at Sam's Club, too, a Walmart spokesman confirmed on Wednesday.

The Coral Springs store, at 3801 Turtle Creek Drive, and the Boynton Beach location, at 3200 Old Boynton Road, both had five of each model, electronics department employees confirmed. Employees said they came in on Tuesday morning.

Walmart expects to sell the popular touch-screen device in more than 2,300 stores by mid-November, the most of any retailer, a spokesperson said.

Previously, Apple's tablet was only available through Apple,Target and Best Buy.

In addition, Walmart is testing a new, free same-day pickup service called "Pick Up Today" in 21 South Florida stores as well as in New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Washington, D.C., a spokesperson confirmed. (Unfortunately, the Pick Up Today service is not available for iPads.)

The service allows you to order online and drop by the store later to pick up your item within four hours. Orders placed after 6 p.m. will be ready by 10 a.m. the next day. Click here to learn more about how the service works.

Coming to a Redbox rental kiosk near you: Popular video games for $2 a day.

In the coming months, the company, which offers DVD rentals for $1 a day, will begin offering Nintendo DS, XBox 360, PS2, PS3 and Wii video game rentals at its red kiosks located at Walgreens, Walmart, Albertsons, 7-Elevens, McDonalds and now, CVS drugstores. Competitors Netflix and Blockbuster Express kiosks don't offer game rentals.

Gaming rentals are not available in Central or South Florida yet.

A Redbox spokesperson told Mashable on Tuesday that the company began testing game rentals in August of last year. “Redbox will be expanding its video game rental test to include additional markets in the West, Midwest and Atlantic coast” as “part of an ongoing test designed to gauge consumer interest in video game rentals,” the spokesperson said in Mashable's post.

Popular titles currently listed on the RedBox.com website include "Medal of Honor," "Enslaved: Odyssey to the West," "NBA 2K11" and "New Carnival Games," among others.

The company celebrated its billionth rental in September with a free DVD rental.

Dunkin’ Donuts opened a new location on Monday, Oct. 4, in Sunrise and is celebrating with giveaways.

Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 12 through Friday, Oct. 15 Sunrise city workers, school board employees, health care workers and Sunrise Lakes residents can get a free donut or Egg and Cheese Wake-up Wrap with the purchse of a medium or large beverage and proof of ID.

Here's the schedule:

Tuesday, Oct. 12: City of Sunrise workers
Wednesday, Oct. 13: Teachers and other school board personnel
Thursday, Oct. 14: Health-care workers

Cute costumes for kids can be found at TJ Maxx this weekend (Oct. 16-17) for $19.99 to $29.99. The costumes are for little kids, perhaps toddlers to 5 year olds.

I don't get many children saying "Trick or Treat" at my door anymore, but I do like to see the parade of young costumed children at the mall.

"Spiderman" was a favorite costume when my son was that age. Good memories.

Emmy-winning actress Christina Applegate told "People" magazine how much she loved a hair product called It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product in 2008.

Now, the Deerfield Beach company that makes it is loving the actress back with a special, limited-edition pink product to benefit her breast cancer foundation, Right Action for Women.

"We decided to make a pink bottle and I reached out to her and explained that we wanted the proceeds to go to her foundation, and she was thrilled," said Carolyn Plummer, CEO of It's a 10 Hair Care.

The actress, who starred in ABC's "Samantha Who?" and Fox's "Married…With Children," had a double- mastectomy in 2008. She founded Right Action for Women to help provide magnetic resonance imaging breast screenings to women who are at an increased risk for breast cancer but can't afford the cost. The screening caught Applegate's cancer.

"This product is truly a miracle and I am so grateful to It's a 10 for supporting Right Action for Women," Applegate says on the company's website, ItsA10HairCare.com.

Plummer, who lives in Boca Raton, said at least $200,000 will go to the foundation. "We designed the bottle together and her logo is right on the front. All proceeds go to her foundation," she said.

Plummer said she created 500,000 pink bottles to express appreciation to the actress for her support of her company.

"Christina Applegate was featured in People and In Style magazines and she listed her 10 favorite things in life and both times she mentioned the Miracle Leave-In product," Plummer said.

Plummer said the pink bottles will be available until they sell out. "They are flying off the shelves. We're very pleased to see how excited people are about supporting this great cause," she said.

The Miracle Leave-In Product, which retails for $18, launched the company in 2005. The instant deep conditioner, part of an eight-product line, enjoys a cult following among celebrities and stylists alike.

It works on all hair types and promises to do 10 things, such as detangling, adding shine and offering thermal protection. It's available at salons (Regis, Hair Cuttery) and retail outlets (GBS The Beauty Store) or at ItsA10Haircare.com.

I just picked up a pair of jeans at the new Nordstrom Rack in Boca Raton for $39.99. That's more than I usually pay, but they fit just right.

For those who are willing to pay a bit more, 7 for All Mankind denim for men and women is on sale for $99.97 to $119.97 starting 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7. Either print the voucher, ask for an e-mail or the company will send the voucher in the mail. Then bring it to your doctor and get the three free tablets if your doctor agrees it's right for you.

If you're looking for some fun and funky shopping, check out the Stitch Rock Indie Craft Fair & Bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 2, from noon to 6 p.m. in the gymnasium at Old School Square in Delray Beach.

The fair features 70 vendors offering handmade crafts and unique products such as fashions, home decor items, natural bath and body products, paintings and photography.

The first 100 people get a free swag bag. There also will be prizes, food, cupcakes and drinks.

The Broward County Humane Society is offering two low-cost pet vaccination clinics on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 2-3.

The cat clinic will be held from 7 to 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2; dogs will be seen 7 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3. Appointments are not necessary. Two more clinics will be offered on Nov. 20-21.

The $25 package for cats (if spayed or neuetred) includes rabies with tag, FVRCP, Revolution (1 dose). It's $50 if they're not fixed. The kitten package is $15.

The $35 package for dogs (if spayed or neutered) includes rabies with tag, a 5-in-1 booster and bordetella. It's $50 if the dog is not fixed. The puppy package is $25.

There are other low-cost individual services offered, such as spaying and neutering, micro chip and registration and heartworm tests, among others.

The clinics will be held in the back parking lot of the Humane Society located at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale.
