Pick your own produce, sunflowers at Bedner's Farm in Boynton Beach

Today's going to be gorgeous out so why not spend some time outdoors plucking tomatoes and strawberries right out of the field or cutting yourself a cheerful bouqet of orange and yellow sunflowers at Bedner's Farm in Boynton Beach.

Besides offering U-pick, this 80-acre working farm grows most everything showcased in its newly built, clean and bright Farm Fresh Market. Fruit and veggies come right out of the fields out back and go into your basket and then onto your table. The Bedner's also offer tractor rides, homemade ice cream and hot-off-the-grill BBQ on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays, too.

There were plants, geraniums, herbs and orchids for sale for an amazing four for $20, too.

Bedner Farms is a special place, one of the few family farms in operation in South Florida. Let the kids get acquainted with farm life and kick up their heels playing on the wide lawn while you chow on lunch from Porky & Beth's BBQ that you can enjoy in the new 2,000-square-foot Tiki hut.

I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie, Steve and Bruce Bedner yesterday. Charlie showed me the 10 acres of strawberries and plucked gorgeous vine-ripeded tomatoes right off the plant and cut me a giant sunflower, too. There are two sunny varieties growing in a wide field that's sure to put a smile on your face.

Market hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The fields are closed on Tuesdays. They offer field trips, too.

Bedner Farm is located at 12033 State Road 7 in Boynton Beach. The tomato field is open but the strawberries are ripening and may not be ready. Call 561-733-5490 for U-pick availability.

Macy's fine jewelry 30% to 50% off

saphire%20necklace.jpgJust in time for Valentine's Day, Macy's fine jewelry is 30% to 50% off, with an extra 15% off certain items.

Not quite ready for the diamond ring? That's OK. Girls love all kinds of jewelry, and a beautiful necklace or bracelet will be just as appreciated.

Many other possibilities for around $100. Browse

Propose at the office? Ring Finger delivers

I'm not sure I would recommend a marriage proposal at the office, but if you're planning a Valentine's Day wedding or engagement, Ring Finger Studio of Miami makes it convenient for busy professionals by coming to your office.

Pick the date, and Ring Finger Studio will meet you for lunch for that special ring selection.

The boutique specializes in "green" engagement rings and wedding bands: 100 percent recycled precious metals and "conflict-free" diamonds, according to the studio. Conflict-free diamonds are those that have not been involved in or funded the sales or arms, terrorism or involved human relations violations, the retailer's website explains.

Find more information at Ring Finger Studio.

New Starbucks Mobile App lets you pay with iPhone, BlackBerry

I just read on the Starbucks website that you can now pay for coffee using your mobile device with the free Starbucks Card Mobile App for iPhone, IPod Touch and Blackberry devices.

Pay for your drink or other purchases using the app by entering your Starbucks card number and your phone will then display a barcode you can use in place of your Starbucks card at more than 7,500 stores, including Target.

You also can check your balance, see tranactions, reload via your credit card and track your rewards. Flash your phone and get free coffee and tea refills, too, just like with your Starbucks Reward card.

I always grab my phone before my daily visit to the coffee house so now I won't even need money or a credit card! I just entered my Starbucks card number in two seconds and the balance magically displayed on my iPhone. Magic!

Great! Now where can I download that Macy's App?

Get the Golden Globe look for less

natalie_portman.jpgHeard on NBC-TV's Today program this morning: Rent the Runway to dress like the movie stars on the Golden Globes at an affordable price.

Here's Natalie Portman in a Viktor Rolf pink satin gown. The shoes (ah, the shoes) were taller and fancier as well, with sparkle and roses and lace. Natalie wore red heels with her gown.

Of course, if you rent a runway dress from, you do have to return it. But who wears the same fancy dress twice? (Actually, this bargain hunter does. Don't tell anyone!)

40% off at Ann Taylor Factory stores

ann%20taylor%20factory.jpgTake another 40 percent off purchases at Ann Taylor Factory stores at Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise and Dolphin Mall in Miami, Jan. 13 to 17.

I was at Sawgrass Mills a week ago and there seemed no sign of a recession. Shoppers carried multiple bags from designer shops, many offering discounts (though not enough for me.)

The Ann Taylor Factory store at Sawgrass, though, usually has lots of deals. If you're in the market to refreshen your work wardrobe, or just want to pick up some casual tops or pants, this store is a bargain-hunter's dream. Have fun!

Up to 50 percent off at Ann Taylor

Ann%20Taylor%20top.jpgAnn Taylor is holding its semi-annual sale, with blouses and tops priced at $19.99 and up, sweaters starting at $29.99, and pants at $39.99.

January is a great time to reinvigorate your work wardrobe, and Ann Taylor is one of the best stores for that. But at this sale, you'll also find some holiday wear on sale, such as this silver cut-in top, only $19.99. Good under a jacket or for evening wear.

Ann Taylor also has a nice choice of cardigans -- great for South Florida's air-conditioned offices. But they're not quite at the price I would buy them. I'll wait for the annual sale.

Shop now at Ann Taylor.
