Free entrance to national parks through April 24

Get in free at U.S. National Parks in Florida on Saturday, April 16, through Sunday, April 24, as part of the park system's free entrance program celebrating National Park Week. The park service is waiving fees to over 100 parks around the country.

On the Florida list: Everglades National Park, Dry Tortugas National Park, Canaveral National Seashore, Castillo de San Marcos National Monument and Gulf Islands National Seashore.

In January, our family visited Shark Valley in the Everglades. We took a tram tour and saw more than 100 alligators and countless wading birds and other spectacular wildlife.
