Diamond Pet Foods issue dog food recall

Diamond Pet Foods, a specialty, natural pet food supplier, has issued a voluntary recall of its lamb meal and rice adult dry dog food and puppy formula dry dog food, according to the company’s website.
The products may be contaminated with salmonella, according to the recall information. However, no dog illnesses have been reported.
Customers who have purchased the products in Florida, among other states should stop feeding their pets with the “best before” labels that read Jan. 4, 2013, according to the Diamond Dog Food website.
Pets with salmonella may be lethargic or have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomitting. Some pets will have a decreased appetite and abdominal pain. If your pet has consumed the recalled product, contact your veterinarian.
Several specialty pet feed stores sell Diamond Dog Food products, including Griff’s Western in Davie, Pet Supplies Plus in Hollywood and Delray Beach, and Finish Line Feed in Dania. For a full store listing, visit the Diamond Dog Food website.
