Publix Super Markets fell short of being Florida’s top Fortune 500 company this year.

Miami-based World Fuel Services Corp. edged Publix for the No. 1 ranked Florida company with $34.6 billion in revenue. The company provides fueling and logistics services to air carriers, private aircraft and marine operators. They ranked No. 85 on the national list.

Publix, the second-largest company in Florida, ranked 106th this year with $27.2 billion in revenue. Last year it was ranked the No. 1 company in Florida. It ranked No. 2 in the state in 2010.

There were 16 Florida-based companies on this year’s Fortune 500 list, including Boca Raton-based Office Depot and Jacksonville-based Winn-Dixie.

Exxon Mobil ranked No. 1 on this year's list, and Walmart ranked No. 2. Last year, Walmart was No. 1 on the Fortune 500 listing.
