Freebies and fun at IKEA Sunrise birthday bash on Saturday

IKEA in Sunrise is celebrating its 5th birthday on Saturday and you get the gifts.
Starting at 9 a.m., the first 500 visitors will get a mystery birthday present and a free photo booth memento.
The birthday bash continues throughout the day, with free face painting for kids and free birthday cake with purchase of meatball entree sin the restaurant on Saturday and Wednesday.
The Florida Grand Opera Young Artists Studio also will be giving impromptu opera performances throughout the store.
Prize giveaways include a chance to win a dream kitchen by texting IKEA to 69222 and spins on the IKEA family prize wheel to win gift cards and more.
“South Florida is our home and we want to show our appreciation to the community for five great years,” said Peter Steinweg, IKEA Sunrise store manager, in a release. “And since birthdays are all about celebrating with family, we’re inviting everyone to join IKEA FAMILY, our free loyalty program. It’s a great way for us to reward our biggest fans with big savings on our birthday… and every day!”
Since opening on October 17, 2007, the store estimates it's sold approximately 17-million cubic feet of merchandise, dished up 15 million meatballs, served 2 million frozen yogurts and hot dogs and recycled more than 6,453,649 pounds of cardboard. The store soon expects to install 4,368 solar panels on the roof, according to a press release.
