If you've always wanted to try out Virgin America, now may be your chance.

Virgin America has cut its fares to $99-$100 each way from Fort Lauderdale to several destinations, according to TravelZoo. Service from Fort Lauderdale begins Nov. 18.

The sale is valid for mid-week departures Nov. 18 through March 10, 2010. Book by Oct. 27.

Fly from Fort Lauderdale (each way) for $99-$100 to:

- Las Vegas
- Los Angeles
- Orange County
- San Diego
- San Francisco
- Seattle

The lowest fares are for Tuesday-Thursday and Saturday flights. Friday, Sunday and Monday flights are $20 more each way.

It figures. Just as my son gets ready to graduate from college in New York, Southwest Airlines announced $99 fares from Fort Lauderdale into LaGuardia Airport.

Southwest begins flying into LaGuardia on June 28, but book now if you're planning a trip this summer. Southwest fares go fast.

Southwest already flew into the airport on Long Island, but that is just a hassle if you're going into the city. LaGuardia is the preferred airport for my trips to Manhattan.

The airline, known for its service, will be taking on JetBlue Airways, which is usually the airline I take to the Big Apple, and the Miramar-based Spirit Airlines. Competition is always good for consumers. Let the flying begin! -- Marcia "Bargain Hunter" Pounds

Want to get away to the Bahamas? You can do it for $49 each way.

How about going to the Big Apple? It's only $79 each way.

JetBlue has announced airfares to several citites it says are "some of the lowest prices of 2009."

The sale ends April 8. Fares are for travel April 29 - June 17. Here are some sample fares from FLL (each way): Raleigh-Durham, $59; Richmond, $59; Charlotte, $59; Washington, D.C.,$79; Austin, $79;- Boston,.$99 and Long Beach, $109. The airline says the lowest prices can be found on Monday-Thursday and Saturday flights.

And be sure to read the fine print. For example, the disclaimer says: Fares do not include Passenger Facility Charges of up to $9 each way, September 11 Security Fees of up to $5 each way and a Federal Segment Tax of $3.60 per domestic segment. A segment is a takeoff and landing.
