Last week Clarisse wrote to ask for help getting supplies for her brother stationed in Afghanistan. Grateful to our sons and daughters for serving our country, my first reaction might be to take up a collection and send him the items on his list.
Second reaction: Lets make this a coupon lesson, and teach Clarisse how to shop with coupons. This will be a lesson for all of you wishing to learn, "What is all the hype about coupon shopping?"
First, Clarisse, start saving two of each coupon insert from your Sunday papers. I happen to know you work, so you probably won't have time to clip and organize, just file them away by the date they ran in the paper.
Next, register at all the stores in your shopping area. Get a CVS Extra Care Card, register at Winn-Dixie, get on Albertson's mailing list. These memberships make you eligible for extra savings, as well as coupons and offers by mail or email. Anytime you see store coupons, grab two copies, to combine with your manufacturers coupons. Always visit the coupon kiosks to look for anything new, they go fast.
Your list is mostly basic items that are often on sale and often have coupon match-ups. Here is your list: "Gillette Razors, Shaving Cream, toothpaste, mouthwash, Palmers Coco Butter, Dove Body Wash, Old Spice Deoderant, baby wipes, baby powder, tropical trail mix, and fig newtons." You also said, "I looked up these items online at Walmart and I estimated that it would cost me about 73 dollars, and that does not include shipping.... Help Please."
Now, just remember that sales change often so after you do your research, you must act fast. Publix sales start Thursday, Winn-Dixie's Wednesday, and CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Albertsons and Target sales start Sunday and last the week.
Since this post is already long enough, it will take forever to post each item and the available sales, so I'm going to ask our readers, our dear readers, to help us find the sales and coupon match ups for these items. We will look for store sales, BOGOs (buy one get one free), store coupons combined with manufacturer coupons, etc. Below you will see some of the online sites you can use for research.
Clarisse, I'll get a few coupons to you to get you started. --Super Saver Kathy
