Word around the Interwebs is that Hewlett Packard will be selling refurbished TouchPad Tablets for $99 in its eBay store listed under "laptops" starting at 7 p.m. Sunday, (6 p.m. Central time) according to Gizmodo.com.
Gizmodo reports that HP will sell the refurbished 16GB and 32GB versions for $99 and $149 each, along with three-piece accessory sets (case, charging dock and wireless keyboard) for $79, according to the post. No word on how many of the now-discontinued tables will be on sale.
TechCrunch has more details on the sale, citing an HP internal memo. The memo says you will only be able to purchase the tablets using a PayPal account, so if you don't have PayPal, better set one up to be ready to buy. Also, there will be a limit of two tablets per eBay member and all sales are final with no returns unless there is a defect, according to the memo.
The sale on eBay seems plausible since HP announced Friday it was contributing its webOS software which runs HP's tablet, to the open source community. That means there is no real worry about updates and improvements to the operating software if you buy, or already have, a TouchPad.

Barnes & Noble is selling the HP TouchPad 16GB with Wi-Fi for $101.95.
Most everyone is having a fire sale on these since HP announced Thursday it was no longer going to manufacture tablets and smartphones.
Meanwhile, it's rumored that Best Buy will be selling 16GB HP TouchPads for $99 in stores beginning Monday (it's sold out online). No confirmation on that yet, but since Best Buy has posted an updated return policy on its web site, that seems to be an indication it's coming. Best Buy says it will not accept returns or exchanges on clearance TouchPads and it will offer either a refund or refund of the difference between the price they paid and the clearance price.

Groupon.com is taking applications for "Local Experts" to help it pinpoint favorite spots in neighborhoods to be featured on the popular deal-a-day site in exchange for credits.
In an e-mail to subscribers, the company said it is seeking applicants for its Local Expert team to help evaluate businesses to be featured in a "continued effort to bring Groupon subscribers the best of the best."
If selected, Local Experts will get weekly assigments and give personal recomendations in exchange for Groupon.com credits. The e-mail doesn't say how much time or credits are involved.
You have to fill out a survey and answer questions about your age, marital status, occupation and tell how long you've lived in your city. It also asks you to rate your knowledge, from "Expert to Dodo Bird," on Food & Drink, Events, Services, Health & Beauty, Activities and Retail Stores.
