Athletic shoes on sale at Kohl's

Kohls%20shoes.jpg

If kids wear through anything, it's shoes. They wear that favorite pair constantly and they're running, jumping and doing what kids do.

So if you need to reshoe your children or yourself for active play, check out Kohl's sale on athletic shoes. Sneakers, as I call them, are marked down 20% to 50%, depending on the brand and style. These Fila Sport Durango skate shoes for boys, for example, are $24.99.

Kohl's, a relatively new store to South Florida, is located in Boynton Beach off Gateway Boulevard exit off 95. Just in case you didn't know. -- Marcia "Bargain Hunter" Pounds

Wii Fit update

My Target in Plantation sold out of their supply of 30 Wii Fits in about 30 minutes. A clerk told me that they had people lined up for the store's 8 a.m. opening and they ran to the electronics department (great way to work in the cardio, guys!). My physical therapy appointment got canceled so I tooled over to Target to see whether there were any left and lo and behold, I got the last one! (I had the clerk double-bag the box so no one could spy my haul).

According to the clerks at GameStop, which opens at 10 a.m. (in most locations), they'll be fulfilling their customers' preorders, then selling whatever they have left to the general public.

Mother's Day for Yoga moms

Mother's Day gifts don't have to be boring.

If you know a young mom who loves yoga, here are a few great gifts:
Yoga mats don't have to be Plain Jane. Check out these nature-inspired designs of Gaiam yoga mats with matching bags from Barnes & Noble. The mats are $21.98 and the bags are $19.98.

And if that yoga mom had a baby recently, I found the perfect book that you can buy at the same time. Check out Baby OM: Yoga for Mothers and Babies (Henry Holt & Co., $18) by Laura Staton and Sarah Perron. It includes everything from baby bonding exercises to a discussion of the benefits of yoga for postpartum depression.

Happy shopping.

Holiday Gifts 2007: Last Call at the OB tee

canestee.gif

My buddy Steve was delighted when I handed him this tee I got as part of a press kit.

He is a 'Canes fan and, of course, has spent plenty o' good times at the OB (Orange Bowl), where it's the final season for Hurricanes games.

While the shirt color is an obnoxious bright orange color, UM fans (also known to be obnoxious) will love it. The front says "Last Call at the OB." On the back: "We may not have won them all, but we've never lost a party" and "Thanks for the Memories" . You can find it at www.smackapparel.com.

By the way, check out the smackapparel website for lots of fun shirts -- great gifts for the sports nut in your life.

My Buckeye husband just may be a recipient of this Fear The Vest tee. On the back: Kickin' tail from Austin to Ann Arbor and everywhere in between.

And for my Sooner brother & father: this Beat the candy 'Canes out of Miami, and send 'em home Tropically Depressed."

(Note to Steve: The Sooners already did that this season, didn't they? Oh well. Enjoy your shirt.)
