Got old eyeglasses? Make a charitable donation and get $25

glasses.php

Trade in an old pair of out-of-date eyeglasses for $25 towards a new pair at Hollywood Eyes.

It's the store's version of "Cash for Clunkers" and the campaign begins Thursday and ends Oct. 31.

The old eyewear is donated to a local Lions Club, which recycles the used glasses for people in need in Central America.

Hollywood Eyes is located at 2011 Harrison Street in Hollywood. For more information call 954-923-5367.

The For Eyes chain has a similar program, according to its website. Bring in a worn prescription eyeglass pair and receive $25 off a new set of eyeglasses. The trade-ins are also donated to charity.

This is good for a purchase of $129 or more and is not to be combined with other discounts, coupons, vision insurance plans or prior orders. The For Eyes offer expires Sept. 30.

These are good deals. I've been growing tired of my tortoise-shell rhinestone speckled glasses (pictured on the left). They were a hefty investment and it doesn't make sense to ditch them after two years. I'm still debating.

Do any of you wear eyeglasses as a fashion statement or are they just a necessary evil?

Ann Taylor jewelry 30% off

Ann%20Taylor%20necklace.jpg

Accessories often make the outfit. Add the right necklace to a plain top and you're more dressed up, more professional.

Ann Taylor can help with its 30% off sale in stores and online on jewelry, belts and sunglasses.

Here's a necklace on sale for $55, but there are others for much less. Some nice choices in belts and sunglasses as well. -- Marcia "Bargain Hunter" Pounds

Sunglasses channel Paris Hilton

Want to have the bug-eyed sunglasses look that all the celebs like Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester, love? Can't afford them? They don't have to cost in the triple digits.

I have been wearing these large sunglasses, which I prefer to think of as Jackie O style, for years before the young celebs picked them up. And I thought I had a great source -- The Festival Flea Market in Pompano Beach. And they cost only $10.

But even a better sources for cheap but cool shades is forever21.com. They have fashionable, oversized plastic frames, like these on the right, for only $5.80.

Now you can look like a star for a pittance.

XOXO -- Shopper Girl
