First day of school, settling in
OK, first day of public school today in Broward.
A friend of mine remarked that it's a day working parents look forward to, much more than non-working parents, the thought being that we need the routine much more.
Agree/disagree?
You won't hear me bemoaning the end of summer. I've been looking forward to this day for about two weeks now. I'm ready to see my son get rolling, and have been dying to rip that Nintendo out of his hands. That, plus I like getting up in the morning, getting him off to school and having the early morning to go on my run or swim.
And, sorry, but I don't feel guilty about it.

Not me! I love the summer when I don't have to get up early enough to have my kid at school by 7:30 a.m.
But when they were younger, and school started later for them, it was a huge relief to have them back in school -- on our family budget as well as my mind.

I would have to disagree, just from my personal experience. I'm a stay at home, homeschooling mother of three. I am a very structured, organized person, and have always been that way. I have had to "learn" to be flexible with my children, but for the most part, I'm a creature of habit and routine. The fact that I stay at home/work from home and homeschool doesn't change that. I find that our children benefit from having structure and routine, from doing certain things at certain times of the day. The fact that I don't leave my home to work or take my children to school is not a factor, at least in our experience. I know other parents for whom that would not be the case.
