Where do you buy kids' shoes?
The lack of places to buy kids' shoes in South Florida is driving me crazy.
I've tried Target and Payless, but you have to be lucky that they will have something semi-fashionable and in your kid's size. My 11-year-old, Rachel, inevitably finds a style she likes that is in every size but hers.
I've been wondering why most department stores don't sell kids' shoes. Or why there aren't more kids' shoe chains. Don't you think it would be extremely profitable?
The only place I've found that's pretty consistent is Nordstrom. They have every size, but the prices are so much higher.
I heard www.zappos.com is good for kids' shoes, but I never know what size my kids are, so I'm not sure that would work.
Can you make a recommendation for a great kids' shoe store?

I've had good experiences with Stride Rite and Rack Room Shoes. Rack Room prices are really good too.

I also like Stride Rite. But go ahead and try zappos.com, even if you're not sure of the size. Just order a few sizes of the style(s) you want. Since they offer free shipping to you and back to them, it's like having a shoe store at your own house.

In western Broward County, the Sawgrass Mills Mall has a Stride Rite outlet as well as a Rack Room Shoes outlet. In addition, some of the children's department stores there (Carter's, Children's Place, OshKosh, Gymboree) also sell shoes.

Nordstrom has the best children's shoe department in South Florida. Period. It's pricey, but if you want your child's shoes to fit and be fashionable -- and have a great experience while you're shopping -- that's the place to go.
Nordstrom has won South Florida Parenting's annual Kids' Crown Awards for the best of South Florida for families every year that it has been in the market.
Most of the other best shoe stores for kids are in Miami.

Good morning to all moms,
Please view www.designyourgigi.com. It is the latest in girls shoes. My daughter is in her 10th strap and she loves them. The comfort of the shoe ranges on the wider end therefore she compares them to her crocs; it's really great not to hear her complain. The good thing is that there is a chart that you can download and expains the sizes. I know the shoe sales in high end boutiques across the US with major success. I don't understand why they keep so a low profile being a great shoe and concept. I recommend it to all moms. I called Nordstroms and they advise the Gigis will be available in some of their store in 2009.
